The Exterminator: Retribution

Just like John Rambo this movie captures a Jake Eastland the son of the exterminator that grabs the guns and goes to fight criminals on the streets of Detroit.

The premise is simple, and i do like a vigilante films, i already saw all of the old ones from 70´s to 80´s, so i couldn´t miss this one.

The cast works well together, the soundtrack, special effects (a little CGI) are cool.

But the main focus for me his the legacy, it carried the movie to it´s objective until the finale.

If you like Vigilante+Death Wish+Warriors than this is the movie for you, it got that real connection and vibe with the 80´s, starting with the music, and the way he deals with the criminals in the most savage way, you will be pleased.

The principal motivation of Jake (the new exterminator) is to pick up his father´s mask and be the exterminator, but he will have to deal with a new Don a guy called Teschio, this guy is number 1 in Detroit (he doesn´t die in this one, so i´m hopefull that this won´t end here) he´s a good villain, but the men working for him, can´t find Jake, they try but they die.

I had a great time watching this on their channel, so It's time to take out the trash.

A decent acting, a strong storyline, some "rough" violence, sums up what we get in this return of the exterminator.

This one is pretty action-packed right from the jump. The opening shows our protagonista in Colombia taking out a kingpin (references to scarface) Rather than being strictly a revenge/vigilante exploit film though, the character development is enough to really feel the bond between the exterminator and is uncle, and makes it easy to root for Jake as he's blastin' his way through the city.

I saw this one on release day on their channel, and somehow i was mesmerized how they pulled it off with a low budget like this, it has that vibe of grindhouse classics and lots of blood, the violence in the late 70's showed more realistic and depressing popular culture, showing the dark side of New York City (full of low lifes, street criminals, drug dealers, drug addicts, underage prostitution, disgusting pedophiles and slimy perverts) So in this first chapter we see him take on a criminal organization led by one mob leader Teschio (D. Dias) so we know it won´t be a easy fight has he struggles with his legacy of the old path done by his father, i liked this backstory wish there was more of it, but that´s not the case here.

The soundtrack is good.

"The Exterminator Retribution" will become a cult classic among the exploitation cinema in time, but like the other flicks from this genre it's not indicated for the general audience...

This thriller is quite good a lean, mean and nasty way of wasting bad guys.

There are some intense interplays, and a disturbing moment or two, but in the end it's not particularly gripping like I would have hoped, i wanted more depth within the characters, the soundtrack is satisfying, and the conclusion is begging for a sequel.

But overall a good revenge flick.
