Nearly 800 Looney Tunes short films are now free to stream. Hundreds of the shorts were previously removed from HBO Max, which was met with poor reception, especially on top of Warner Bros.' controversial decision to shelve the Coyote vs. Acme movie starring Will Forte and John Cena.
The Coyote vs. Acme movie is now happening, with a 2026 theatrical release via Ketchup Entertainment, but there have still been questions about the future of the beloved animation franchise, especially when it comes to being able to stream content from previous years.
Now, 789 Looney Tunes short films can be streamed for free on Tubi. These shorts are part of Looney Tunes' increasingly large library on the ad-supported Tubi that also includes the 2010s The Looney Tunes Show, The Sylvester & Tweety Mysteries, and Tom and Jerry: Chuck Jones Collection.

Max almost wants nothing to do with the Looney Tunes brand these days, as most of t he franchise's content has been scrubbed from the streaming service. However, fans will be able to watch some of the removed Looney Tunes programming for free at its new streaming home.
This week, it was revealed that Max flushed 255 episodes of the original Looney Tunes cartoons, leaving very little left from the franchise still available to watch. This follows previous removals that had already been done with the Looney Tunes franchise months ago, which included some of the other classic episodes along with the two-season reboot, The Looney Tunes Show, which originally aired on Cartoon Network between 2011 and 2013. If you want to scratch that Looney Tunes itch after it was reported that the show is no longer streaming on Max, then you're in luck. Two Looney Tunes TV shows have found a new streaming home on Tubi. They will be available on the streaming platform immediately in April, giving fans more opportunities to watch these iconic cartoon characters. The two shows that will be released on Tubi are 2011's The Looney Tunes Show, and 1995's The Sylvester & Tweety Mysteries. The Looney Tunes show was previously available on Max but was pulled along with other animated shows during the first week of 2025. Meanwhile, The Sylvester & Tweety Mysteries was pulled off the Warner Bros. Discovery-owned platform in 2021, along with other titles like New Looney Tunes.

Last month, we found out that Max, the streaming service for many DC shows and movies, was going to make some changes. Four popular DC animated series were set to leave by the start of 2025. On January 1, if you were planning on watching some of your favorite animated shows, you were most likely met by disappointment.
The shows removed include ‘Teen Titans,’ ‘Teen Titans Go!,’ ‘Static Shock,’ and ‘Green Lantern: The Animated Series.’ To make it clear, it’s not only DC Shows that got removed from the streaming service many notable classics like ‘Ed, Edd n’ Eddy,’ ‘The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy’, ‘The Looney Tunes Show’ were also removed.
It’s unclear why the shows were removed in the first place but it’s mostly related to licensing rights and the show will be returned at some point in the future. However, if you’re planning on rewatching them right now,...

Cartoon Network fans are starting 2025 on a sour note as several beloved animated series have been removed from Max.
Just last month, it was announced that four popular DC animated series—Teen Titans, Teen Titans Go!, Static Shock, and Green Lantern: The Animated Series—would leave the platform by the end of 2024. True to the announcement, these shows disappeared from Max’s library after December 31. But it didn’t stop there.
As of January 1, more fan-favorites have also been removed, including Ed, Edd n’ Eddy, The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy, The Looney Tunes Show, and the first seven seasons of Teen Titans Go! While the show’s eighth season remains on Max, fans hoping to revisit earlier episodes will have to look elsewhere, like Hulu, where some seasons are still available.

Back in the day, when it came to drawing a cartoon character, one thing that they couldn't be without in terms of attire was a fancy white pair of gloves. Whether it was a cat, mouse, or whatever Goofy is (he's officially classified as "Canis Goofus"), a whistling, strolling, sketched-up animated hero wouldn't be caught dead without a pair of pristine white gloves on — but why? In a world where an overly agitated duck wore a sailor hat and shirt but nothing to cover his lower half, why were gloves so essential to characters that debuted at the forefront of animation?
The truth is that the unmistakable mitts were added to the likes of Mickey Mouse as a byproduct of inspiration and necessity. Not only were they in line with a shameful form of entertainment from that time, but also a corner-cutting method in creating characters that would eventually go...

Many beloved properties of Cartoon Network are about to disappear from Max as Warner Bros. Discovery continues to trim down their streaming library. Congratulations to Nickelodeon for winning the animation rivalry simply by letting us stream SpongeBob SquarePants.
When controversial Wbd CEO David Zaslav assumed control of the WarnerMedia empire and its massive, culturally crucial portfolio of original TV shows and movies in 2022, he set the tone for his tenure by cancelling completed and well-screened films like Coyote vs. Acme just to earn tax write-offs and recoup some of the production costs. Very quickly, cartoon-loving Max subscribers and Warner Bros.-associated artists realized that Zaslav’s intention with the post-merger mega-company was to rein in its sprawling streaming library, cut down on animation and focus on pushing shows that are cheaper and quicker to produce, like numerous spinoffs of 90 Day Fiancé or a Harry Potter-themed baking competition.

Second only to Mel Blanc himself, voice actor Jeff Bergman has voiced the most Looney Tunes characters over the longest stretch of time. He “officially” got the gig — the reason for those quotes will become clear below — in 1989 when Bugs, Daffy and the rest became teachers on Tiny Toon Adventures. He’s continued on through dozens of other projects like 1990’s Cartoon All-Stars to the Rescue, 2011’s The Looney Tunes Show, 2015’s New Looney Tunes and last year’s Tiny Toons Looniversity reboot.
While he’s not the only person who’s voiced these characters since Blanc’s passing, he’s been among the most consistent. Which, of course, has steeped him in all sorts of Looney Tunes lore, as well as allowed him to make some of his own. Lore such as…

Coyote vs. Acme was set to be the first Looney Tunes film in theaters in over 20 years, but unfortunately, the movie has been canceled. The upcoming Looney Tunes movie, The Day The Earth Blew Up, promises a modern twist on classic characters facing mind-controlling aliens. Warner Bros may favor a simpler Looney Tunes movie over Coyote vs. Acme, aiming for an entertaining film without breaking the bank.
Formally announced back in the summer of 2018, Coyote vs. Acme was on track to finally break an over-20-year-old curse from Warner Brothers regarding a Looney Tunes theatrical release (Space Jam: A New Legacy does not count since it was released on Max). The last big screen entry audiences received regarding this cartoon franchise was Looney Tunes: Back in Action in 2003, which sadly was a financial failure.

As the year winds down, it’s time to look back at Netflix’s biggest hits, and today, we begin by looking into what kids’ TV shows picked up the most points in the Netflix top 10s over the past 12 months.
This list is compiled using FlixPatrol data collected from the daily top 10s on Netflix from over 80 countries around the globe. They assign points and values to each title that gets featured on any day. Their data isn’t perfect as their method doesn’t quite fully capture the complexity of viewership data, such as total watch time, repeat viewings, or demographic details of the audience. Also worth noting is that Netflix changed up its top 10 metrics midway through the year to favor views over pure viewing hours. That said, their data provides a pretty accurate snapshot of what performed best over a long period.

Sufferin’ succotash! Warner Bros caused quite the stir online Monday evening when a false report said beloved Looney Tunes shorts would leave Max, the subscription-based streaming service. The error arrived as a part of the studio’s “What’s New on Max This December” press release, stating departures for classic Looney Tunes cartoons, The Looney Tunes Show, and Joe Dante’s 2003 live-action animated hybrid Looney Tunes: Back in Action.
“Looney Tunes was included in error as a title leaving the platform,” read the statement, shedding light on the status of the classic shorts. “This is not the case and the show will continue streaming on Max.”
Fans revolted when reports about the classic shorts leaving Max hit the internet. I was hosting an episode of the Talking Comics podcast when the story hit Twitter, and I ranted about the departure alongside my co-hosts. I’m sure that conversation will age well.

For close to a century, many generations have been able to enjoy the iconic cartoon series, Looney Tunes. A property of Warner Bros. Discovery, it had been announced that the company would be pulling Looney Tunes of its platforms. Set to get the axe were decades worth of classic Looney Tunes shorts, as well as The Looney Tunes Show, which had ran from 2011 to 2013, and a 2003 film. However, in a much appreciated turn of events, Warner Bros. Discovery have clarified that Looney Tunes shorts will not be leaving Max after all.

“Concrete Utopia,” South Korea’s Oscar contender, was Wednesday named best film at the country’s annual Grand Bell Awards. It also won prizes for best actor, best supporting actress, art direction, sound mixing and visual effects. A disaster movie set in a devastated Seoul, it makes an unusual Academy Awards selection, but has gained high praise from reviewers. Variety this week said the film felt like “’Earthquake’ crossed with ‘Lord of the Flies’.”
The Grand Bell’s best director award nevertheless went to Ryoo Seung-wan for “Smugglers,” while Ahn Tae-jin took the best new director award for “The Night Owl.”
In the other half of the event, Disney+’s “Moving” was named best series, earning Han Hyo-joo the best series actress award to boot.

Disney, Nickelodeon, and Cartoon Network are responsible for many popular animated shows that appeal to young demographics. Shows like Phineas and Ferb, Spongebob Squarepants, and Adventure Time had a significant impact and became spectacular hits for younger audiences.
However, there are a good number of acclaimed animated shows from these networks that don't receive the same recognition. These shows either had serious competition or viewers weren't ready for something new. These animated shows are criminally underrated, from movie-based series like Tron: Uprising to brilliantly written cartoons like The Looney Tunes Show.

The following contains spoilers for Tiny Toons Looniversity, now streaming on Max.
The Looney Tunes characters have been a staple of Western animation for almost a century, with their wacky hijinx entertaining generations of fans, young and old. Over the years, the classic stable of cartoon characters has been reinvented to fit with changing times and tastes. But there's one somewhat minor player in the franchise who's gone through perhaps the most radical changes overall.
Granny was introduced as a fairly straightforward character in the original Looney Tunes shorts, only to undergo a surprising evolution in the 21st century. Now recast as a far more capable character in modern adaptations, Granny has found a place at the heart of Acme Looniversity in Tiny Toons Looniversity. Notably, the show finds a way to meld her sweet side with the more proactive elements that have been increasingly afforded to the character.

Estelle Harris, who played George Costanza’s (Jason Alexander) mother Estelle on the iconic NBC sitcom Seinfeld, died Saturday evening of natural causes in Palm Desert, California, just weeks before her 94th birthday.
“It is with the greatest remorse and sadness to announce that Estelle Harris has passed on this evening at 6:25pm,” her son Glen Harris, who held her as she drew her final breath, told Deadline. “Her kindness, passion, sensitivity, humor, empathy and love were practically unrivaled, and she will be terribly missed by all those who knew her.”

Space Jam: A New Legacy was plagued with various controversies during its production, and now the movie has come under backlash once again following its release. Dave Alvarez, an artist and animator who worked as a character designer on the sequel, had sat down with his family to watch the movie as soon as it came out. His kids were particularly excited to see the movie "dad helped make," but as Alvarez tells his followers on Twitter, they were disappointed to see that he had been left uncredited on Space Jam: A New Legacy.
Over the years, Alvarez has worked on many Looney Tunes projects for Warner Bros. He has been credited as a character designer for the reboot series Looney Tunes Cartoons on HBO Max with other small screen credits including The Looney Tunes Show on Cartoon Network and Wabbit!/New Looney Tunes on Boomerang. The first project under the new deal is “Keeping Up with the Joneses,” which has received a presentation order from HBO Max. In the series, an aging matriarch scrambles to keep up appearances in her wealthy, judgmental Texas neighborhood.
Davidson most recently served as executive producer and showrunner of the adult animated series “Mike Tyson Mysteries,” which concluded its fourth season on Adult Swim earlier this year.

The thing I love about voice actors is that even if you don’t know their names or faces, you will “know that voice.” And considering voice actor Eric Bauza was responsible for one of my favorite scenes in the voice actor documentary I Know That Voice, I’m super glad that I not only know that voice, but got to interview it (and the man behind it!) at this year’s New York Comic Con.
Eric, who hails from Canada and began his animation career as a character designer who also did animatics, is now most known for the legacy voice of Marvin the Martian from The Looney Tunes Show and for a myriad of other great voices, including Tiger Claw on the current Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles animated series, Foop on The Fairly OddParents, Belly Bag on Uncle Grandpa, Buhdeuce on Breadwinners, Amadeus Cho on Ultimate Spider-Man and Avengers Confidential: Black Widow & Punisher,...

Exclusive: Now that LEGOs and Paddington Bear have spawned their own movies, is it time for the sock monkey to venture onto the big screen? Animator Matt Danner and comics scribe Tony Millionaire (Maakies) are making the leap with their forthcoming Fantagraphics storybook Sock Monkey: Into The Deep Woods, the latest adventure in Millionaire’s Eisner Award-winning lit saga about a sock monkey named Uncle Gabby. To demonstrate the character’s cinematic potential, Danner penned a feature script and produced a “sneak peek” teaser using hybrid CG/live-action “digi-nette puppetry” to bring the surreal toy story to life. (Watch it above.)
Story follows stuffed hero Uncle Gabby as he and his doll pals venture across sea, land, and air to save their human, Ann-Louise, whom they fear has been kidnapped by a vicious monster. The Sock Monkey project was initially envisioned as a film, but when Danner wrote the treatment as a children’s book,...
