This film proves that if a story is about weird people who engage in unusual business, that doesn't mean that the story itself cannot be very predictable. But is also proves that a very predictable story that's acted out well enough can still make an entertaining movie.

This film aired on Dutch national television, and I watched it with my mother, which was a but awkward because it contains quite a few very explicit sex-scenes. (to a degree I hadn't seen on dutch national television yet) To me it seemed these scenes were useful to tell the story, because one of the themes is that the main character is kind of alienated from a normal sex-life. But I can imagine people not agreeing on that...

What made me like the film is the acting of most of the (young) cast.

The movie seems to balance on the thin line between brave and pretentious.

A compliment for the very well synchronized violin-playing

Don't watch this movie for it's great story, it's really thin. To my knowledge this was an attempt to make an erotic movie with porn scenes included, that would be watchable for women in general, unlike most hardcore porn. I must say the acting is decent. This was made for television (and rental/retail DVD) so the budget must have been low. I would not recommend this to people that want to see a good movie, it's far from that, but if you want to get into an erotic mood this could be it. After seeing plenty of hardcore movies in my video-rental store for over 25 years (porn was not more then 5% of the business), I'm sure that this new approach for erotic movie making is what lots of couples want. With a little better stories, bigger budgets and maybe other genres there could be a market. I gave this movie 7 stars because it's a nice attempt for a movie of this kind.

And to love - well both things. No pun intended obviously. It is true that we try to distance ourselves from our parents - at least at one point in our life. And if you have a mother that is quite open about her sexuality and ... well love making in general ... can you blame the daughter for being more ... well closed about the subject and all things to do with it? That was rhetorical.

That said and maybe this is the most important part - I am not sure if there is an edited version (I assume there is), but the original version has a lot of explicit images of body parts ... also penetration of many kinds. So if you can't deal with that ... well maybe do not watch the movie. Is it necessary or could it have been done otherwise? Well that is more complicated ... probably would have been possible ... the points it makes could be made too ... but how would you outrage people and make them talk about your movie? On the other hand I was looking for a different movie and stumbled upon this and never had heard about this before.

The woman in the main role is really good ... and I understand she really bares a lot. In many respects ... tough role ... and sensible too. Understandable that she is shy ... and needs encouragement ... well she is getting that and then some ... well the mood has to be right of course ... well played (violin) ...
