Boring, unengaging and predictable.
William Levy is a wanna-be James Bond whose acting skills are nowhere up to par with the actors in those movies. His acting is very dull, robotic and to top it off he has not learned how to properly enunciate after twenty years of career. Just because he appears shirtless any chance he has does not make this series any better. On top of all, Esmeralda Pimentel and William have very little chemistry.
The poor dialogues, bad action scenes and vulgar sex scenes end up making this a series that is just not worth recommending. It underdelivers as a thriller and as an action series. Hard to understand how you can mess up a classic such as The Count of Montecristo, but this "modern" series misshandled the core of the story quite badly and tried to compensate with by using William's body as bait. In conclusion, a flop.

The TV show differs from the book, and the movies we saw previously. The new story is more adapted to today's world: oppression, lies, corruption, and revenge. William Levy did an outstanding job playing the character. I loved the ending; it is a great message. We need to let go of the past and move forward no matter what.
As for the people complaining about intimacy scenes for the first time, I see those scenes as part of the story. When he was with Mercedes, I didn't see love; I saw anger, and Levy did that well. The other relationships were part of the vendetta plan. Great Job, Willaim Levy.

I completely agree with the original comment regarding the series being an excellent adaptation of "The Count of Monte Cristo". The production value was truly exceptional, and the performances given by the actors were top-notch. William Levy's portrayal of the main character was particularly noteworthy - it was arguably his best performance to date. However, it would be remiss not to mention the talented Esmeralda Pimentel, who delivered a fantastic performance as well.
The series adaptation stayed true to the essence of the classic novel, while also managing to bring a fresh perspective to the story. It was gripping and kept me on the edge of my seat from beginning to end. I found the storyline to be well-crafted, and the pacing was just right - it never felt too slow or too rushed.
Regarding the negative comments, I couldn't agree more with the original poster's statement. It's unfortunate that some people feel the need to leave negative comments just for the sake of causing trouble. I would highly recommend giving this series a chance, as it's truly entertaining and well worth the watch. In short, the "Count of Monte Cristo" adaptation is a superb production that deserves all the accolades it can get.

This series could have been a great production but unfortunately it disappoints in the end. Very good locations and the plot is well built but the casting is very weak and the scenes of
action are not well achieved. I will give it a 6. It seems that it was created to make shine William Levy, unnecessary and not credible sex scenes. There is no chemistry between the main characters, lack of emotion and credibility in a lot of scenes and actors/actresses.
The production company has been very brave by adapting a classing book into a modern and contemporary story.

The development, and ending, of the entire series is an insult to Alewxandre Dumas' classic.
That adaptation along with the 2002 American version are the two worst adaptations of the book. And the film The Prisoner of Château d'If (1988) by Georgi Yungvald-Khilkevich is the best version.. Viktor Avilov may not be as handsome as Willaim Levy and Jim Caviezel, but The Prisoner of Château d'If's screenplay is far superior to those two adaptations put together.
The screewriters may have tried to transport the story to the present day, but not only did they do that, they completely rewrote the story. No screenwriter is better than Alexandre Dumas.
Perhaps William Levy's fans praised the story of the series because of the author's beauty, but I want to see how they will do to praise this series, which is terrible.
The count of Monte of Monte Cristo would be a mixture of The Odyssey by Homer with Crime and Punishment by Dostoevsky. With the redemption of the protagonist who regrets his revenge and forgives, he has a new beginning with Haydee just as Raskonilkov had with Sonia.
The film the three musketeers by Martin Bourboulon, based on another classic by Alexandre Dumas, no matter how many defects this adaptation has, this version manages to be much better.
