Blomkamp is known for his unique approach to filmmaking, bringing style, eye-popping visuals, and spectacle to the playing field. With an inspiring story at its foundation, Gran Turismo could become a stand-out for racing cinema in a time when movies like Ford v Ferrari, Michael Mann’s Ferrari, and the Fast and the Furious franchise offer thrills on and off the track. Imagine Blomkamp applying that level of care and detail to Robocop, a fan-favorite franchise in dire need of a reboot or sequel worth celebrating. This week, we turn our attention towards Green Lantern Corps, since there were recent developments on that front recently. The film recently snagged David S. Goyer (The Dark Knight, Blade) and Justin Rhodes (Grassroots) to write the script, with DC Chief Creative Officer Geoff Johns producing and overseeing the project. There's also been talk that it'll have a sort of Lethal Weapon vibe to it, and that it'll sort of base itself off of the Sinestro Corps Wars.

A new script is in development from DC and Warner Brothers for the feature film Green Lantern Corps. We know that the recent Green Lantern movie, starring Ryan Reynolds, failed miserably. But, this time around we may have the creative talent to at least create a good script. The upcoming film is being written by David Goyer (all Christopher Nolan Batman movies, Jumper, Blade, Man of Steel, and he is working on TV shows The Sandman and Krypton) and Justin Rhodes (Grassroots, Contract Killers -- side note he was born in my home town and we are two years apart). Goyer is also producing alongside Geoff Johns and Jon Berg, and I think we all hope that Johns will usher in a new age of legit DC films.

Warner Bros. has brought on screenwriters David S. Goyer (Man of Steel) and Justin Rhodes (Contract Killers) to pen the script for Green Lantern Corps. The studio is reportedly "moving aggressively" on this project, which, when the studio announced its Dceu lineup in 2014, was believed to hit in 2020. This report confirms a long-standing rumor that this superhero adventure will feature two iconic Green Lantern comic book characters, Hal Jordan and John Stewart.

Deadline reports that this project has been described as "Lethal Weapon in space," and will follow a comic book origin story. As of now, the studio hasn't cast any actors for the Hal Jordan and John Stewart roles, but Hal Jordan was most recently portrayed by Ryan Reynolds in Warner Bros.' 2011 Green Lantern movie, which was a critical and commercial failure. Jason Biggs apologized on Twitter for a Malaysia Airlines joke he tweeted on Thursday following the news that a Malaysia Airline plane was shot down, killing the 298 people on board.

Malaysia Airlines Flight MH17 was shot down over Ukrane Thursday, July 17, as it was making its way from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur, making it the second tragedy to befall the airline this year. In March, Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 disappeared mid-flight, and is believed to have crashed in the Indian Ocean.

Nerds, for better or worse, should probably worship at the altar of David Goyer. The guy kickstarted the comic book movie boom and rescued Marvel from financial insolvency by penning the Blade series. Then Warner Bros. recruited him to help re-invent Batman with Christopher Nolan. The WB also kept him on for Man Of Steel, and now Goyer is providing the blueprint for their entire comic-inspired shared universe. It.s that sort of far-reaching influence that makes you forget some of the not-that-interesting credits on his resume. While David S. Goyer certainly has his hands full working on the delayed production of Batman vs. Superman (which just gained Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor), he's also looking to get back behind the camera again. After helming Blade Trinity, The Unborn and The Invisible, THR has word that Goyer is attached to direct The Breach, a new sci-fi action thriller produced by Lorenzo di Bonaventura (of Transformers) that Lionsgate just picked up in a bidding war with other studios. The film is based on the novel of the same name by Patrick Lee, and has drawn comparisons to "24" and "The X-Files." More below! Justin Rhodes (Grassroots, Contract Killers) will adapt the book which follows corrupt ex-cop who is trying to get his life back in order when he discovers a crashed plane in the Alaska wilderness. But among the wreckage is the First Lady and evidence of a mysterious missing item.

Huffington Pictures has tapped Lucas Till (X-Men: First Class, Paranoia), Joel Courtney (Super 8) and Ally Sheedy (The Breakfast Club), to star in the teen drama Sins of Our Youth. The film is based on an original screenplay by Edmund Entin and directed by Gary Entin. Michael Huffington is producing under his Huffington Pictures banner. Principal photography will begin this week on location in and around Las Vegas, Nevada.

Sins of Our Youth is the story of four teenage boys who accidentally murder a young boy while recreationally shooting assault rifles. The film follows the perilous decisions they make in the wake of the murder in a moment of desperation, paranoia, and fear that their lives are over due to the certain eventuality of the death penalty. The four teenagers construct a "plan" that leads them down an even darker path.
