I'm so surprised by the low rating of this show. I'm not usually into team shows but decided to give this one a try once I saw that it's about anorexia. What a beautiful show. Acting is great, story lines are a tad dramatic, but what teen dramas aren't dramatic? I think the did a great job of showing a side of anorexia that people don't really see; the loneliness, the damaged relationships. The show talks about interpersonal relationships and the healing journey. Overall I loved it, I'm glad I watched it, I think others should give it a try as well. I was hooked by the first episode. Also, the lead actress is a star and I can't wait to see what else she does.

Mia, a 16-year-old who is returning home after recovery for an eating disorder. The show has been praised for its sensitive and realistic portrayal of anorexia.

She is struggling to reintegrate into her old life after being away for so long, and she is dealing with the ongoing challenges of her eating disorder. She is also trying to figure out who she is and what she wants, which is something that many teenagers can relate to.

Mia can be quite self-centered and whiny. Personally, I found Mia to be a bit of annoying. I appreciated her complexity and relatability, but I also found her self-centeredness and whininess to be frustrating at times.

I don't know any of the other actors, and I think they're great, all of them.

I do know and really love Stephen Fry.

I haven't ever suffered an eating disorder, nor has anyone close to me.

So I can't tell how realistic those parts of the series are.

I do know that 90% of those suffering from an ED do not have anorexia, and still almost 100% of tv shows, movies, documentaries about EDs are about only those 10% of sufferers. That's... just not right.

I did note that all of the characters were rich, that was quite strange/unusual.

Large, newly renovated, perfectly designed houses etc.

I only give a 9 or 10 rating to shows or movies that feel almost life changing, and this wasn't one of them, but I think it's really well done and for context I'm also a fan of Sex Education, Wednesday, Euphoria and Derry Girls.

Everything Now is well made and well acted, but will feel wholly unoriginal if you've seen other, stronger teen dramas. The premise of ED, getting out of a mental institution and making up for lost time, the plot and style are ripped straight from a show called My Mad Fat Diary. The visuals are ripped from Euphoria. The family story is ripped from My So-Called Life. The sexual dynamic is ripped from Skins.

If you haven't seen any of those other series, this one may grip you. It has more diversity than the aforementioned shows and most of the characters come from a well off background, offering an "aspirational" quality. So there's that.

Every creator takes inspiration from other art, but unfortunately here it feels like blatant plagiarism, as EN doesn't add much of a unique voice or perspective. Apparently it was made by a young nepo baby still finding her footing in TV, which explains a lot. Hopefully with time, the creator and show will find its voice and offer more than a carbon copy.

I do really enjoy teenage dramas, but what I couldn't understand is why all these amazing loving caring cool friends would care SO much for Mía , who is in general not a likeable person. She is not interesting, she doesn't have a big personality, she is not nice to them, she is most of the show pretty quiet actually (other than the voice in her head we keep hearing) her character is boring and overall not interesting. I ended up watching the show for all of the other characters. I did find it very similar to Euphoria in a very soft way, but not as interesting or dramatic which makes it more real cause these are just kids.

I loved the casting and the setting of this series. There's no gender segregation or Hollywood-style drama here; it simply portrays children and parents living their lives. Carli was particularly appealing, and I'm glad they didn't portray the East Asian girl as a stereotypical character.

By the way, it's clear that the characters are quite wealthy. With their huge, beautiful doors, spacious kitchen, wide bathroom, Koi pond, and annual trips to Greece(?) with their dad, they definitely come from privileged backgrounds. While some aspects may seem unrealistic, the heart of the story revolves around Mia's battle with an eating disorder.

Despite the somewhat 'unreal' elements, the kids and teens in the series are charming and vibrant. This drama is aimed at a youthful audience, and I appreciated it because it presents a vision of a better future. It avoids discussions of race and sexual orientation, creating a world where everyone is free to be themselves.

I think this has the potential to be good but the main character is so unlikeable. Yes she has a serious health problem but everyone around her gives up their lives to understand and help her. The writers don't seem to be able to navigate the line between showing the real problems that teens face and that empathy can co-exist. This is typical of teen Netflix dramas in that the main character says awful things to her friends and family and that they forgive them. It's just very unrealistic. It's really hard to root for the main character as she pushes everyone's buttons and acts like a toxic friend who drains all the other characters' energy and time.

I truly don't understand the number of people that I have compared this to Euphoria & at the same time criticized for supposedly 'copying' that show, when the only real things that this show has in common with Euphoria are a black & queer/bisexual protagonist (who also happens to be a teenager).

There is the addiction issue, which many will say is a form of addiction (and I don't fully disagree w that premise) but otherwise, there is nothing other than these superficial character traits that the show has in common with Euphoria.

It seems more to me that many viewers are unable to see beyond the surface & will only see Mia's character & think "she's black & she's queer, this is just like Euphoria" when, in actuality, this show is very unlike Euphoria in many many ways.

I don't want to put spoilers in here, so I won't get too far into her character, but it seems to me that (especially these days & particularly in the US & the UK) all people want to look at are the superficial/outward qualities of someone and/or their personality & dismiss it as the most important thing about said character(s).

Can't people get past the fact that teenagers have always had complications in their lives & have always had emotional struggles, while the color of their skin & who they find attractive is the furthest thing from what you would call a character description?

People comparing this to Euphoria are clearly not looking beyond the fact that Mia is black & queer when giving this show bad reviews, claiming it is a copy.

I just wish people would see other people, whether it is an everyday life or in movies/television as who they really are, and that there is much more to people than simply their sexual history/preference & skin color.

I guess that's clearly just too much to ask of a 2023 television viewing audience.

Like overall it's a fine show about "teenagers".

But it's not fine because of the main Mia. Because of the boring relationships drama that keeps on going. Because it's too long? If felt long at one point for me when in reality, it's only 8 episodes lol.

At first I was fine with Mia but by the end she became too much to follow, to route for, to be happy/sad for her. I just wanted the show to end. The question that I still have is, how does Mia have friends? After 8 episodes I still don't get that. The whole dynamic of the friend group is weird.

The main point (or any point) is not handled well in my opinion. Made me think of euphoria y'know but it's not, I mean they all look older than they should so cool. Even euphoria is not handling well much tbh.

By the end I was not satisfied with anyone and any of the resolution of any drama point. Felt like a waste of time. I will not remember anything from this show in a day or two.

Viewing this as someone who has gone through extremely similar circumstances, mia's journey through recovery and the ups and downs hit very close to home. The episode through the brother's point-of-view was genius, i am so glad they went down this route for at least one ep. While all of this is so, it was hard to connect with the characters outside of the family (other than alison, LOVE her) but the rest of the show storylines seemed kind of forced and filler, when up against such a serious topic as anorexia. This was not a triggering show and could be used, safely, for educational purposes, in my opinion, but other than that, a quick teen watch with sad content that shows exactly what you lose when battling an ED. I LOVED her bucket list idea though, i definitely did that as well.

This tv show is so amazing and true, it s talking about real problem people have, that is usually not discussed and it s done in such a beautiful and true way.

They discuss this sensible topic in such a good way, seeing how it is impacting everyone around the main character.

All the characters are so interesting and unique, and we love to see the LGBTQQIP2SA community represented perfectly.

This show feels really real and relatable, I love it, it make you think a lot but in a good way.

I really hope there will be another season; to see a bit more about other characters problem.

Well done on this show.

This movie tackles very sensitive issue and this was able to show the good side and bad side of healing. Healing is not a very easy road, even you have people to support you, the can't help you enough.

Healing is a process, but it can also be a realization. It takes time but the world can wait.

Hope this reach to everyone struggling with mental illness.

I know that we are going through a lot right now, that even moral support can't lift us up anymore. This battle will be rough and difficult, but ourselves need us. Lets fight for ourselves.

Btw for a little background by me, i'm suffering from major depression.

It was a basic teen movie about the struggles of being a teen. The whole eating disorder could have been replaced with any other issue because they never explained why she has a ed in the first place. Normally ed is control issues, life feels out of control, or image issues. Nope who know. Even with therapy sessions you learn nothing to feel for her illness. She is just portrayed as a girl with great family thats other than misunderstanding with mom, she has great friends and connectivity. What teen doesn't feel confused. Which most of the show touched on.. except this narcissistic character need to have all the attention on her while claiming she doesnt want attention. It was just ok. The supporting actors were good. Just the main girl makes you not care or not like her. I don't see the appeal except for knowing her friends since grade school, why they like her. Her brother episode touched on it but never say the charm of her. She fades away like this unremarkable series.

Topics likes this are often sensitive and hard to discuss this show has managed to exhibit this topic properly and gave in the facts as well as for a good reflection on the situation from both parties the main character and the family. This show is immaculate and mature in the aspects of anorexia and it's effects mentally and physically. This show has plot twists that make you think twice before jumping in conclusions there several factors that make this show different from others that I have watched that talk about this same topic everything now is a show that embodies the of anorexia and effects that does not only affect you but also your family.

It is clear that a number of people who have left reviews here have no experience with eating disorders.

To an outsider, the main character is unlikeable. However it is very much a true reflection of what people are like when they have an ED; they are consumed by negative thoughts, with anger, resentment towards others, they don't care about anything else but the voice in their head. The show makes it clear that this isn't the Mia without anorexia; her personality changed. She is in recovery and still has a way to go.

It was a brilliant show. It was real. As someone who has had anorexia, it is the truest depiction of someone with an eating disorder I have seen in a fictional TV show. It also did an incredible job of highlighting how difficult it is for family and friends to deal with this too. To still be friends with someone who isn't nice anymore, to look after someone who doesn't want to be looked after.

Watching Everything Now really gave me a new perspective on people who struggle with anorexia. The main character Mia throughout the series battles with her disease after coming back home after 7 months. She tries to navigate the new changes in her family and friends lives while also trying to discover more about herself. Mia as a main character is very complex at times I am upset with her, sad for her, feel bad for her and it's constant up and down. But I think it's depicts the reality of people going through a recovery which is never easy. I also really enjoyed the other characters especially Mia's friend group. I think each one brought something different to the table that made the show more interesting. I especially enjoyed getting to know Alison and hoping to see more of her. The show brought drama, laughter and tears. One of my favorite shows this year!

Where do I begin? The writing? The terrible acting? Do they know their TV actors? It was giving theatre performance with all the exaggerated facial expressions. I feel sorry for these kids, they cannot act. The plot was terrible as well but the end of it I wanted the main character to just disappear somewhere. HARD WATCH. On top of that as well the main character was insufferable, from that bad wig they put on her head to her facial expressions, to her speech and they way she talks. These kids seem straight out of Guildhall, and it seems like drama teachers wrote and directed this for an end of year play. Wow. Seen better in sixth form colleges.
