I was born and raised in a small village in Slavonia. Thank you so much for bringing back the memory of my grandmother singing the old songs, talking about the old days, talking about her mom and how hard life was back in the days. I know some people would say the story is over exaggeratedd but the sad part is - it is not. Here we call it "zatucanost sela" which means that some people who live in more rural villages till this day have still this old mentality - just get married, doesn't matter if you are happy, have children, praise God and serve your husband and his family like some kind of slave. Don't do stuff you don't want the village to know or you will embarrass your family. When I listened to my grandmothers stories - there is no real happines there, you just did things to survive, and somehow I feel anger for them. Thank you Vlatka for both the sad and good emotions in this movie, the shots were magnificent, the actors perfectly chosen and the feeling of Slavonia back in the old days - I could feel my grandmother talk and sing again even though she is not here anymore. Would recommend watching the movie if you didn't.
