This limited series, a sequel to WandaVision, follows Agatha, still trapped in Westview and stripped of her powers. Her situation changes when a mysterious teenager frees her, and together they embark on a quest along the Witch's Road, a mythical path said to grant travelers their greatest desire-in Agatha's case, the restoration of her powers. To navigate the trials of the road, they must assemble a coven representing the five witch specialties: Earth (green magic), Water (potion magic), Fire (protection magic), Air (divination magic), and Spirit. As they journey through the road's trials, tensions arise within the group, with secrets and hidden motives threatening their success, and they soon discover that nothing on the Witch's Road is as it seems. Overall, due to clever pop-culture references to classic horror and witch-themed features, chilling moments of genuine terror, a remarkable ensemble cast, -especially Hahn's electrifying performance as the titular character- and wicked dark humor, this show was really good, and although, I wish we had received more background lore and character development for some of the other coven members, I still thoroughly enjoyed my time with this series and thought that It served as a fantastic medium to further explore Agatha's character and is a strong addition to Marvel's comeback era, where quality is clearly being prioritized over quantity, and with its much more mature tone and language, the show reflects an MCU that has grown with its audience and paves the way for future projects, add to that some brilliant foreshadowing, jaw-dropping twists, and an insanely catchy song that refuses to leave my head, and this mini series has undoubtedly left a lasting impression and has quickly become one of my favorite Marvel Disney+ shows.

Fun, good casting, intrigued

First, I find it interesting that people could leave one star reviews on a show that hadn't premiered yet. Looks like some are a bit pre-biased.

Be that as it may, the show is not the be all end all and it's not the meaning of life, but it's fun and it's very interesting and I can't wait to watch the rest of the series. Joe Locke is perfect casting as expected, Kathryn Hahn is amazing as always, and I'm looking forward to meeting the rest of the coven. It has the right notes of spookiness, especially for the Halloween season, and I think using the same exterior for the house in Bewitched from the 60s is an awesome call back. I'll be here every week.

Marvel Creates Another Fun Show That's Cut From A Different Cloth

This takes place after the events of WandaVision and Dr Strange Multiverse of Madness. I am rating this after watching episode 7 and I look forward to watching this every week. The first episode starts off in a bizarre fashion and I think might cause some viewers to abandon ship early, however the writing is very clever and the time jumps that go back and forth add a delightful twist to every episode. It's hard to trust the negative reviews on this because the Marvel fan base has become as bad as the Star Wars fan base so take it with a grain of salt.

I think the casting is pretty good and Kathryn Hahn does a splendid job reprising the Agatha Harkness character all in all I think of you like a darker mystery and enjoyed WandaVision then you will probably like Agatha all Along as well.

Substantial, WandaVision-flavored witchy fun

Rooted firmly in what made WandaVision an enticing watch, Agatha All Along delivers a familiar viewing experience, but goes about it in its own way.

The premise is deceptively simple--a down-and-out villain on a quest to restore her power. As the story unfurls, we see it's about much more than that, and even Agatha's seemingly straightforward motivations are reframed by the end. The story takes its time with the plot twists, but once it starts, it doesn't let up until the very last minute of episode 9.

Led by a career-defining performance from Kathryn Hahn, the cast works well separately and best as a group. Locke and Plaza are highly engaging as the mysteries of their respective characters centre and recontextualize the narrative.

This is a thrifty production by Marvel standards, as you can sometimes--not very often--tell. The broom riding sequence is janky, and the final confrontation has to mostly take place offscreen. This has an upside as it more or less forces the narrative to zero in on the emotional aspect and make us empathize with these characters. The finale in particular surprised me with how poignant and small-scale they allowed it to be, respecting the core of the show as it offers a solemn and mature look into Agatha's world not often associated with the superhero genre.

Overall, this has been a quality MCU offering that shows not all superhero tales need expensive fireworks to shine.

Agatha All Along: Nothing wrong with it, but not enough right either

Plot

A spell-bound Agatha Harkness regains freedom thanks to a teen's help. Intrigued by his plea, she embarks on the Witches' Road trials to reclaim her powers and discover the teen's motivations.

Cast

Kathryn Hahn, Aubrey Plaza, Ali Ahn, Patti LuPone, Paul Adelstein, the always adorable Debra Jo Rupp and a cameo from Evan Peters! No cast problems here.

Verdict

Love it or hate it nobody can dispute that the MCU has accomplished something truly astonishing. Am I a fan? Yes. Am I a blind fan who defends it senselessly and claims it's all great? Absolutely not. Some is incredible, some is dire, it's a mixed bag and that's simply inevitable and should not be frowned upon. Taste is subjective, I didn't like Dr Strange, Black Panther or several others that were critically acclaimed for example.

Agatha All Along follows the fascinating Wandavision (2021) and I'm shocked it actually exists. Think of all the high profile Marvel heroes that have failed to get their own movie/show and yet Agatha Harkness has?! Very unexpected but I wasn't against it, this could have turned out to be a wonderful surprise I thought. I was wrong, but not entirely.

You see I like Hahn, she just tends to do movies I don't enjoy and her over acting style comparable with Kristen Wiig can get old fast. Sadly that's here in abundance, however the shows writers seem to tug the character and her personality left and right so dramatically throughout the shows 9 episode runtime that sometimes she's more bearable than the others. Thankfully a fantastic support cast manage to balance the tone out, except Locke who is for the most part awful. Yes he improves as the show progresses but overall I found him somewhat annoying and you can't have two annoying characters, especially when essentially they're the dual leads!

The show flips from marginally above average stuff to quite enjoyable, it keeps your attention, it kept me intrigued and yet at all times it felt like something entirely unidentifiable was missing and that frustrated me all the way until the very poor finale.

Agatha All Along is a passable watch, it's a novelty addition to the MCU, an acceptable companion piece to Wandavision but don't expect it to make a lasting impression.

Rants

This is one of those IMDB credits that you don't want to delve into the 1/10 reviews because you know exactly what you're going to find. Let's break it down, female lead, gay side lead, almost every character in the show is some description of LGBT, lots of diversity throughout and you can even see a trans lives matter banner in the final episode. Yep, the "Anti-woke" brigade love this one and reading their drivel, vitriol and absurd justifications for their intolerance is infuriating. Live and let live people, don't get upset about things where there is no victim. Think of your blood pressure if nothing else!

The Good

Great cast Some really enjoyable moments It's "Different" and the industry needs more of that

The Bad

Some characters can be a tad annoying Doesn't flow as well as it should Dreadful finale.

Spooky, full of mystery, and addictive!

I am in love with show! Every episode keeps you interested by having new mysteries to solve. The acting, the writing, and just the feel of the show are all excellent.

The first episode shows us how Agatha has been living since she was left in Westview. The show starts off with an interesting premise and really hits the ground running. The next few episodes get better and better as she regains her memories starts off on a dangerous new adventure.

This is the show that I have been waiting for! Definitely give this show a watch if you like the MCU or witches.

I definitely recommend watching WandaVision before watching, since the show takes place shortly after that.

So Far, It's Spooky Fun

I am saddened by the people downvoting this show simply because of a character's sexual orientation. It's not even the highlight of the show; it is just referenced.

Anyway, judging by the duel-episode premier, the show is enticing. It's a bit goofy with its humor, but what Marvel project hasn't dipped into that silliness? The vibes of the show are perfect for the Halloween season. I am excited for the continued expansion of magical beings in the MCU.

My only concern would be whether or not the teased surprises in store will actually be surprising, but this is a general worry due to past MCU Disney+ shows. They just don't seem to stick the landing, but--damn--does this one have a promising start.

I am having a good time so far. Hahn, Plaza, and LuPone seem to be enjoying themselves, as well! While it may not be as serious and heavy as Falcon and the Winter Solider, it certainly is miles ahead of She-Hulk's absurdity for the sake of absurdity.

Marvelous

The series Agatha All Along is a fascinating spin-off from WandaVision, created by Jac Schaeffer, and the first two episodes already provide an excellent glimpse of what's to come. As is often the case with Marvel productions, the cinematography is impeccable, raising the visual standard we've come to expect from the MCU.

The characters are incredibly captivating right from the start, sparking curiosity and a desire to learn more about each one. The actresses are perfectly cast in their roles, standing out with performances that bring both humor and emotion to the narrative.

One of the highlights is the music at the end of the second episode. The masterful blend of major and minor tones creates an unforgettable atmosphere, leaving a chill and an irresistible urge to keep watching. Once again, Marvel holds the audience's attention with a seamless combination of elements.

If you haven't started watching yet, this series promises to be one of Marvel's most enchanting. Don't miss it!

Pretty good. (Almost Great)

Agatha All Along is a fun addition to the spooky season, but it suffers from some critical shortcomings that keep it from greatness.

I love witches and witchy stories so I was thrilled for another outing into the occult side of the MCU. However, when I started watching the show I found myself somewhat disappointed, though also somewhat entertained as the story progressed with good moments pocked with a few flaws.

The main downsides to the show are its frequently poor dialogue and corny storytelling, nevertheless after one masterful episode and a truly compelling twist I was almost convinced that this was not a mediocre MCU project, it was good maybe even great. Almost. At this point I wanted it to be great, but ultimately the unsatisfying ending dragged it back down from greatness to just being pretty good.

Way better than I expected!

I came in to Agatha All Along with no pre-conceived ideas or having done any looking in to the back story. So, it wasn't until I was deep in and watching Episode 6 (?) that I realized that it had a connection to the Marvel Cinematic Universe - WandaVision in particular. I felt scammed and peeved.

Well, having gotten engaged in Agatha All Along, I paused it and had to watch WandaVission. While WandaVision has some critical element as back story to Agatha All Along, it is pretty tangential (and - IMO - a much lesser show than Agatha All Along).

Well I finished E6, then dove in to E7-E9 and have to really give the show credit. The acting is superb across the board, with Hahn as Agatha being a standout. The sets have an off beat, original perspective as the show moves along. Most of all, the trials the characters go through and their growth is well done. The show keeps an engaging, adult story line, none of the usual sugar coating where everyone ends up ok in the end.

While I don't think the connection to the MCU was necessary, it is what it is. And, it does not detract unduly from the overall show. I would likely watch a season two if in the offing.

Shockingly, the first 2 eps are pretty fun!

I did not think I would like this. At all. I almost didn't bother starting it. But shockingly I'm actually really enjoying it!!! I'm pretty intrigued by the plot so far, and the writing is actually pretty good. The beginning had me skeptical but Kathryn Hahn is really funny, and her dynamic with Joe Locke has me actually laughing out loud. Is it a little cheesy? Sure. But anyone who's rating it 6 stars or less has no sense of humor. It's a nice continuation of Wandavision, since it involves the consequences of Wanda's spell. I would encourage the skeptic to at least give it a chance, especially if you liked Wandavision.

Yuck

Look, great cast - I hold nothing against them. But that was an abysmal storyline, it literally told and gave us nothing. I am biased in that I think Wandavison is the greatest thing from the MCU, one of the only stories told with creativity, so much potential to spring off of - I wish they would have just made a Wandavison 2 instead of this. Agatha All Along fell so flat for me. And I NEVER NEVER want to hear that song again - ugh, it was so bloodily awful. And every episode with that stupid song on repeat again and again. This was not an easy watch, the musical side was just rubbish and drawn out - not even campy. It didn't move the plot forward, didn't contribute anything to the MCU universe, didn't solve anything, didn't give any new ideas or interests. Just flat nothingness. You literally have the entire multiuniverse and endless character development potential - and this was what we got??

Betrayal, Ballads, and Big Witch Energy: The Story of "Agatha All Along"

When "Agatha All Along" was announced as a spinoff to the acclaimed WandaVision, expectations soared. How could anything live up to the vibrant, genre-bending magic of its predecessor? The answer: by conjuring a show that embraces its own quirks, doubles down on emotional storytelling, and takes viewers on a spellbinding ride down the legendary Witches' Road. Marvel Studios and creator Jac Schaeffer deliver a series that feels simultaneously intimate and expansive-a darkly whimsical tale with Kathryn Hahn's devious charm at its center.

Plot and Characters: A Coven of Misfits Picking up three years after "WandaVision", the show begins with Agatha Harkness (Kathryn Hahn) still trapped in her Agnes persona, living a humdrum life as a Westview police detective. It's a gritty setup with a supernatural twist, as a Jane Doe case and the arrival of Joe Locke's mysterious Teen catalyze Agatha's journey to reclaim her identity and power. Alongside her is an eclectic coven: Patti LuPone's diviner Lilia Calderu, Sasheer Zamata's potion-wielding Jennifer Kale, Ali Ahn's haunted Alice Wu-Gulliver, and Aubrey Plaza's enigmatic Rio Vidal (aka Lady Death). Each character brings a distinct energy, and their uneasy alliance is rife with tension and begrudging camaraderie.

Kathryn Hahn continues to dazzle as Agatha, infusing every line with delicious wit and layered vulnerability. Her scenes with Aubrey Plaza are a highlight, their simmering chemistry electric as they navigate a past steeped in betrayal. Plaza, playing the sardonic, chaotic Vidal, commands attention, especially when her true nature as Death is revealed in Episode 7. Joe Locke's Teen provides a surprising emotional anchor, and his mysterious connection to Agatha hints at the deeper wounds she carries.

Themes and Tone: A Witchy Adventure with Depth Jac Schaeffer's magic lies in balancing spectacle with substance. While the Witches' Road is a visually surreal marvel, complete with vivid colors and practical effects that evoke an '80s horror vibe, the series shines brightest when exploring its themes. At its core, "Agatha All Along" is a story of redemption, self-discovery, and power. It doesn't shy away from the darker roots of witchcraft, confronting themes like misogyny and generational trauma while celebrating the strength of its female characters.

This tonal balance extends to the writing, which skillfully marries campy humor with poignant moments. Agatha's transformation back to herself in Episode 1 is a standout-a noir detective peeling away layers of forced personas to reclaim her truth. The show also embraces episodic storytelling, with trials on the Witches' Road that test the coven's unity and personal resilience. From Alice's haunting family curse to Jennifer's struggle to reclaim her bound powers, each arc adds richness to the overarching journey.

Standout Episodes: A Spellbinding Journey Among the nine episodes, several stand out as masterclasses in storytelling:
  • Episode 1: "Seekest Thou the Road" establishes Agatha's fragmented identity with a detective noir twist, culminating in her cathartic reawakening.

  • Episode 3: "Through Many Miles / Of Tricks and Trials" takes the coven to the eerie Witches' Road Mansion, blending psychological horror with a trial of poison and hallucinations.

  • Episode 7: "Death's Hand in Mine" delivers a haunting blend of sacrifice and revelation as Lilia Calderu's ultimate act of redemption unravels her fragmented life, while Rio's shocking identity as Death shatters the coven's fragile trust in a tarot-laden trial of fate and free will.

  • Episode 9: "Maiden Mother Crone" wraps up the Witches' Road saga with an emotional finale that leaves Agatha poised for future adventures while resolving the coven's trials in deeply satisfying ways.

Visuals and Style: Practical Magic at Its Finest Visually, "Agatha All Along" is a feast. Its practical effects-a conscious departure from CGI-heavy Marvel fare-lend the series a tactile, almost dreamlike quality. Every magical element, from the fog-draped Witches' Road to the eerie glow of fireflies, was crafted with painstaking attention to detail. The commitment to practical effects extended to action sequences, such as Episode 7's dramatic sword drop, where actual metal blades were dropped from the ceiling with precision mapping, adding an edge of realism and danger.

The Witches' Road, in particular, stands out as a masterstroke of set design. Built twice to achieve the perfect scale, the final version is a rich tapestry of mud pits, mushrooms, and glowing flora-all filmed in-camera to enhance its tangible, studio-bound aesthetic. This hands-on approach immersed the actors in the environment, bringing authenticity to their performances and grounding the fantastical elements of the series in reality. The physical demands of navigating the road's uneven terrain, paired with the magical atmosphere created by fog and glowing mushrooms, enhanced both the storytelling and the visual experience.

By embracing practical effects and studio-built sets, the series pays homage to the golden age of fantasy filmmaking while adding layers of depth to its narrative. This approach makes the Witches' Road feel like a character in its own right-otherworldly, dangerous, and entirely unforgettable. Music plays a recurring role, too, with the "Ballad of the Witches' Road" threading through key moments, adding a haunting resonance.

Final Thoughts: A Bewitching Success While it doesn't quite match "WandaVision's" genre-defining brilliance, "Agatha All Along" forges its own path, embracing its quirks and delivering an emotionally resonant, spellbinding tale. It's a bold entry in the MCU's television experiment, proving that magic doesn't always have to be about explosions and world-ending stakes-sometimes, it's in the characters, the journey, and the haunting echo of a song.

If this truly marks the end of Kathryn Hahn's tenure as Agatha, it's a fitting, triumphant conclusion. But if the final notes are any hint, there's still room for more cackling chaos-and honestly? We wouldn't have it any other way.

Binge watched 3 times

I recently watched "Agatha All Along," and it was an absolute delight! From start to finish, the show captivated me with its clever writing, intriguing plot twists, and outstanding performances, particularly from Kathryn Hahn. Her portrayal of Agatha was both delightful and sinister, blending humor with an underlying menace that kept me on the edge of my seat.

The show does an excellent job of blending mystery, comedy, and a touch of the supernatural, making it a unique and refreshing addition to the current television landscape. The production values are top-notch, with fantastic set designs and a hauntingly memorable soundtrack that complements the show's eerie yet playful tone.

Overall, "Agatha All Along" is a must-watch for anyone who enjoys a good mystery with a twist. I can't recommend it enough to fans of the genre. It's a fun and engaging series that leaves you wanting more after each episode.

Top 3 Marvel Shows

I thought it started off very well so far. People always right woman lead shows very low for some reason. It needs to stop. Give shows a chance or don't watch them at all. I think the show has good potential to be very good at the end. I really like how they set up the first episode in the series, it really reminded me of WandaVision. I also like the outro and how it pays homage to all of the witches and modern media. It was so surprising to see, and I loved it so much. I also think I'm going to like the mystery of it all and so excited to see where it ends up. Please give this show a chance for you rate them.

***Update: One of the best Marvel shows ever written. It is so complex and In couldn't wait to watch each wednesday. Marvel please make more shows as complex as this one with GREAT writers. This is the direction that Marvel needs to head in. Jac Schaffer I LOVE YOU.

A mix of interesting, boring, and mediocre elements

This series is about Agatha Harkness. After being defeated by Wanda Maximoff, she seeks power from the mystical road, which is initiated by a mysterious teen. The series covers whether she gained her powers, who the stranger teen is, the witches of the coven, and their story and needs.

The first episode creates interest as Agatha is still under Wanda's spell and becomes aware of her identity. The teen approaches her and seeks her help to walk down the road and earn what he wants. The second episode is also entertaining as they gather the coven and enter the road. The differences between the witches of the coven and the conflicts they face on the road are just mediocre due to the overacting, full of dialogues, and the choices of scenes to progress the story. The twist with the strange teen in the fifth episode was good and unexpected due to the character's nature in the previous episodes.

The true identity of the teen is a good reveal, as I didn't expect it from the hints and tease in the series, but the backstory before he found Agatha was lame and handled poorly as it was flat without any hype. The last three episodes were amazing and completely off the chart compared to previous episodes. Lilia's childhood problem and its return, her attempt to overcome it, her redemption, and the reveal of Rio's identity in the 6th episode were executed well. In the final trial, the twist with Agatha regarding Jennifer, the deal between Agatha and Rio, and the major twist regarding the road were well executed. Agatha's backstory, the evolution of the witches' road song, and her fear of facing her son were written well, and the lead to the next storyline was decent enough.

The acting looks over at some scenes, especially on Agatha. The cinematography and composition were good additions to establish the set pieces, which were well made in VFX. The costume designs were odd and unnecessary to be changed for each trial scene. The music is a good addition to the show.

In conclusion, I just started to watch it to follow up with the Marvel franchise. Initially, I was not excited about the show, but the last 3 episodes saved the show from utter flop.

No clue what's going on unless you're a Marvel fanatic

Love Kathryn Hahn and Aubrey Plaza, so decided to give this a try. At the end of the first episode we felt lost and had to look up what's going on. Apparently you're expected to have watched Wandavision and be an expert on the Marvel Universe in order to watch this show. They're not interested in creating a story that can be followed by anyone else.

ICONIC

Agatha All Along is perfect for Halloween.

If you like shows like WandaVision, Buffy The Vampire Slayer, American Horror Story this series is for you.

Kathryn Hahn and Aubrey Plaza are the best actresses in the show, although Joe Locke could hold his own for a second role. Patti LuPone is a legend and that's enough for that.

I think the sets are perfect and I LOVE that the visual effects are practical, with little green screen or CGI.

I hope people give it a chance. I think this is a series, it's a series like few others. And it's good to have new content for this time of year, and also that it's for a more mature audience.

It's a teenage show

I think my biggest struggle was with my expectations. I expected a darker vibe and sharper humour, but this seems more as a Disney+ original show than a MCU universe.

I feel 0 suspense, everything so far seems to be fitting in the regular TV show narratives. Unlike in Wandavision and Loki where I had no idea what would happen, here the majority of the episode is faiy predictable. We might not know the real plot still, the dialogues and the actor's reactions are seen many times before. As someone here said, it's a Hocus Pocus TV show. And that's cute, but lack the edge.

The acting is aligned with the dialogue - equally stiff and unnatural, but worthy of a Disney magic-y comedy show for teens.

The ratings are misleading

How did we go from the incredible WandaVision TV mini series to this horrendous miserable thing!? Majority of the story in the episodes is extremely boring and dull, this was a big downgrade from WandaVision, i was expecting more from this sequel and i really hope that people who write these terrible stories get fired! The ratings are so misleading and i really don't understand how could so many people rate it a 10!? It's too bad, this series had so much potential, part of the story is written really good. In all honesty if this series had only half of the episodes and all the nonsense would be removed, it would be a decent and worth thing to watch.

Marvel, Give Jac Schaeffer Whatever She Wants!

While it's a different beast than WandaVision, it's an excellent second chapter. A lot of things feel more refined and deliberate with this.

Mysteries are revealed before they overstay their welcome, and the reveals, while not hard to figure out, do feel earned. Similarly, the emotional tugs feel like they've done the work to get you crying (which they did for me several times in the final 3 episodes).

*Not to say WandaVision didn't earn its emotional moments- I cried constantly during some episodes*

The song that ripples through the whole series is an ear worm, and the various versions each add something to it- to say nothing of its importance in the final episodes.

For Marvel fans, I'd say this- yes, it rewrites some of the lore but in interesting ways and with very open ends to pull it back in without retconning constantly (a particular bit in the finale had me scratching my head but, I have full faith that whatever Jac is producing will produce something bloody beautiful).

If the team do this well with FF (a notoriously difficult property) we're in good hands. So Marvel, please, give Jac Schaeffer whatever she wants! 😂
