Story is quite unique blended with a touch of folklore. Especially Bhairavkona, the village which is a prison for souls soughting revenges. The story revolves around Bhairavkona and the actor. Casting actors have well portrayed their characters. I wished the story could have been knitted more properly as the subject was good. 2nd half could have been more detailed. Though it's not a romantic film, yet in my view, it wouldn't have spoilt the main subject. A little bit of more romance could have made it even more engaging. It sure that one will not regret after watching the movie. It's more then an average movie.

A fantasy drama set in a village has become quite a trend in so called pan Indian South Indian cinema, especially in Telugu films. This wave started with movies like Karthikeya 2, Hanuman, and Kantara, which churned out big numbers. However, simply trying to capitalize on the trend often fails, and that's exactly what happened with this one.

The story follows a thief who, after a major robbery, escapes from the police and ends up in a village called Bhairavakona. Little did they know, the village is haunted by ghostly inhabitants, leaving them with no way back home. Moreover, the village holds a mysterious connection to the thief's past and love life.

This is a movie that makes no sense in any way. Even if you go in expecting a no-brainer, you'll find yourself in disbelief, wondering how such scripts get approved for production. With caricature-like characters and an absurd storyline, the film neither scares nor amuses. Even the so-called comedy feels like mockery.

Sundeep Kishan, despite being given a weirdly written character, holds his ground, making the film barely tolerable. Viva Harsha as his friend fails to deliver either comedy or impactful acting. Kavya Thapar's performance was amateurish, though Varsha Bollamma fares slightly better. Among the supporting cast, only Vennela Kishore stands out with his good comic timing. The rest either overact or seem to have forgotten how to act.

The screenplay is the biggest flaw here. It doesn't fit into any genre-be it horror, comedy, or fantasy. Logic takes a backseat, and you're expected not to question anything that unfolds on screen. Director VI Anand seems confused in his vision and should work on refining his craft.

Movies like this should only be watched when you're in the mood to watch just anything. It's not so bad that it'll give you a headache, but it's far from engaging.

The film presents a promising story but falls short in its execution. Sandeep Kishan delivers a commendable performance, consistent with his reputation for solid acting. Varsha Bollamma shines in her role, Kavya Thapar adds a spark to the film with her presence. Kishore and Harsha are fun.

The supporting cast turns in acceptable performances, doing what they can with the material provided. The cinematography is competent, offering some visual appeal, though the film's VFX elements do not meet the same standard, detracting from the overall experience.

While it may not justify the price of a movie ticket, the film could be an option for streaming on OTT platforms for those who find the premise intriguing enough to overlook its shortcomings.

Sundeep kishan has improved over the years & has been closely associated with Kollywood recent years...While he convincingly potrays the role of Basava,it's obvious that the role is limited to playing a conventional protagonist in a fantasy film, but he does it skillfully...

Varsha does give her best standout performance enhancing the movie with her emotional quotient,while kavya thapar does a decent outing...Harsha & Vennela Kishore are the biggest asset of the movie...

Sekhar Chandra's music is just ok but let down by poor bgm...Nijamena chepthunna song is especially extraordinary mind blowing love song in recent days...The film has excellent visual effects and strong visuals...The production design is equally good...

The narrative gains momentum as it progresses towards the pre-interval sequence. While the backdrop of "Bhairavakona" may resemble last year's blockbuster "Virupaksha,loses its battle in execution...The non-linear storyline might not be everyone's cup of tea but it's necessary for the final revelation...

Overall a one-time watchable decent fantasy thriller.

Ooru Peru Bhairavakona goes wrong in many aspects. The first and foremost thing is the love track upon which the entire movie revolves. There are not enough scenes between Sundeep Kishan and Varsha Bollamma, making it tough to connect to their emotion. The key scene/twist reveal in the second half featuring the lead pair should have been emotional and shocking, but the presentation here made it inconsequential. There are two chartbuster songs, but they don't add much value to the proceedings due to their placement.

Multiple genres are incorporated into the film, but enough justice isn't done regarding execution. From the opening scene, the director tried to project that there was some mystery behind Bhairavakona, but the suspense was not built properly. The stakes were never high, so we would hardly be interested in knowing the enigma surrounding Bhairavakona.

The fun moments in the first half are passable, but the actual story is brought in during the halfway mark. The interval episode is neat, but as the staging of scenes and world-building aren't done well, the impact is minimal. There are no high moments or thrills in both the halves. There are some really good, fun moments, but the movie somewhat disappoints on the whole due to a lack of emotional depth and flat narration.

Everything regarding the second half looks very rushed, and one would get a feeling that the movie ended abruptly. The heroine's backstory is a beaten-to-death concept, and the makers tried to blend it with fantasy, comedy, horror, and suspense elements, but these elements look somewhat contrived.

Basava (Sundeep Kishan) is a stunt double who is also a petty thief. He is in love with Bhoomi (Varsha Bollamma). Basava along with his friend John, steals bridal jewellery during a wedding and escapes in a stolen vehicle. On the way, they come across Agraharam Geetha (Kavya Thapar), who pretends to be met with an accident and they try to save her. Escaping the police, they enter a mysterious village Bhairavakona. As they face paranormal experiences, they try to uncover the mystery i.e. Bhairavakona and it's residents. Why Basava chose to steal the jewellery and what is the story of Bhoomi, forms rest of the story.

VI Anand definitely gets the first half right with a decent blend of mystery and humor. The non-linear narrative too tries to work in the film's favor. As the first tries to keep the mystery alive and build the Basava - Bhoomi story, the pre-interval scenes make the right impact. It is the second half that largely suffers from the writing. The entire sub-plot involving Rajappa (Ravishankar) is underwritten. Adding to that, the love story of Basava - Bhoomi lacks the emotional impact it aims for and in the end, the proceedings look all too convenient. Despite decent performances and narrative pace, the second half doesn't match the first half.

It's a below average watch.

The only movie which I never discussed with my friends after watching it because there was nothing good about the movie.

The setup of BhairavKona was good were people with unfulfilled wishes get settled but sadly the direction and screenplay came out very poor.

Even after setting up a perfect scenario the movie never has the intent to show the events in a serious manner The comedic punches ruined the whole movie.

The actors did an okayish job.

Only positive things were VFX and cinematography of the movie which felt good to watch otherwise the plot twists were not that good and climax was also forgettable.

A brilliantly made Fantasy Thriller and an edge of the seat experience!

Ooru Peru Bhairavakona exceeds my expectation in all departments and certainly a must watch theaterical film of this year. The director Vi Anand has comeback strongly to entertain us and proves yet again that he is a Master of such genres which are rarely touch based in Telugu Film Industry. Screenplay was top notch with decent twists and turns required for this movie.

The entire cast starting from Sundeep, Varsha, Vennela to Viva fits perfectly into the world of Bhairavakona. There is an extra ordinary bonding between Vi Anand writing and Vennela Kishore characters which creates a comedy swirl in theatres.

Songs and BGM, no doubt will be one of the highly talked about positives of this film. Nijeme Ne is certainly a crowd puller. DOP is a masterpiece considering 90% of the movie is shot in night.

For this budget film, the VFX is out of world experience. At times we can see glimpses of Marvel Cinematic Experience, which is a major feet for this film. The trust that the director had in the VFX team needs to be appreciated considering 1/3 of the movie has CG sequence.

The production value is high and defintely looks like a 50-60 cr movie, though it is not. Bhairavakona world is well designed and thought out without any confusion.

Overall if you are a movie lover and wished to see industry taking positive changes including all commercial aspects, this is a perfect theaterical watch for you with your family.

Ooru Peru Bhairavakona attempts an intriguing blend of genres, but stumbles with nonsensical humor and an underdeveloped narrative. The shift from ghost town to zombie town is jarring, leaving the viewer confused. Great concept needs great execution. And this is exactly opposite of that.

When say something it has to be followed throughout the movie. That doesn't happen.. they say a story introduce a character and how the character functions and you can see that in the 2 minutes of introducing them .. throughout the movie there would be no link . There are many such scenarios for all the major characters.

I feel sorry for all the technicians and that staff and creative teams for putting so much of hard work into nothing.

Fantastic movie one of best movie of 2024. Proud to be hindu its shows true strength of hindus. Action , songs, story is excellent. Modern Indian who forgot out culture should watch this movie. The hero for love take risk rob jewellery and escape he burns himself and escape on bike. He finds a girl met with accident but like true hindu try to help her. To hide from police they enter a village in a remote jungle whose people follow true hindu culture and in that village the hero realise how strong and powerful his religion is. Imagine can any one fight with ghosts for his right but like a true hindu the hero fights. All indian should watch this gem to feel proud of their religion.

All the viewers are expected that this movie has be like virupaksha or maa oori polimera but it's simply and different concept so the viewers are not satisfied.because of that only the rating is down but I'm surely this movie has a top class movie I like more about the story line-up it's just like an purely love of affection.this build up on the love theme. Hero has struggles for problems of lover.its not a black magic movie.so plz don't expect on this movie about more black magic movement..........and it's tells about the 1 person should know about other person and trust him love them..........

The execution of movie is really great. Appreciate the suspense and thrill till the end of the movie. Sundeep Kishan and other actors gave nice performances. Family entertainer with a touch of suspense and thrilling experiences. Did not get bored at any point in the movie. The vfx could've been better but the story surpasses and saves the movie. One needs to watch entire movie to understand and to me every scene was entertaining to stick till the end. Although it felt like so many unanswered questions are there and it felt rushed and jumping stories, in the end everything fell together perfectly.

A fresh concept interjecting the genres of socio fantasy, drama, comedy thrillers. Not boring at all. Worth a watch for fun. The action of all the actors is on par. Great acting by Sandeep Kishan. Music is good. Background score is good. Clean movie without any unnecessary vulgarity. Movie worth watching with family. Reminds old Telugu movies with similar socio fantasy concepts.

No unnecessary songs in-between to drag the story. Both the female leads have good roles. Harsha's comedy keeps you entertained even as the story gets serious as we progress into the plot. The premise of the village could've been clearer for the audience to get a more immersive experience though.
