Although Scarlett Johansson was originally cast in the lead role in 2021, which would have marked a reunion with Chris Evans after sharing the screen together in over nine movies (most of them in the Marvel Cinematic Universe), Johansson dropped out due to scheduling conflicts and Ana de Armas, another of Evans' frequent collaborators, replaced her. They starred together in Entre navajas y secretos (2019) and El hombre gris (2022).

Cole's farmers market (said to be on the outskirts of DC) was filmed on the Marietta Square in Marietta, GA. The Strand Theater is prominently seen when Cole runs to Sadie's car to ask her out at the beginning of the film.
The film received 328,500 views in its first two days, more than any other Apple TV+ film, surpassing Finch (2021), with 228,500 views. The completion rate for Ghosted was also reportedly 20% above the average rate for other projects on the platform.
According to director Dexter Fletcher, he was the one to suggest Ana De Armas as Scarlett Johansson's replacement for the role of Sadie when she had to drop out due to scheduling conflicts with another project. Chris Evans then called De Armas immediately to offer her the role.
