What was this episode even?

Why did the show suddenly start adding guerilla advertisments in their episodes? It just keeps growing each episode and this would be the first one I just backed off because of it. What's up with good shows selling out like that?

The part of the eccentric Dr. Reidman was written with Crispin Glover in mind. Glover himself was offered the role, but turned it down.

Errores
At the beginning, Shawn and Gus are walking along the beach, and Juliet shows up. She complains of an odd smell, and Shawn throw his corn nuts (the source of the smell) behind him. Later, in the hospital, Gus finds the corn nuts in Shawn's sweatshirt while wearing the hazmat suits. Unless it's assumed Shawn picked them up, or got new corn nuts, they shouldn't have ended up in his sweatshirt pocket. Sean throws his burrito not the corn nuts. This is incorrectly regarded as a goof.
