The sound was so bad, it was very distracting. The levels were off, there was random echoing, some random mic bangs, loud music, low dialogue, etc. Also the story dragged a bit. About halfway through i was looking at my watch thinking "how could there be more".
The snow is very foamy, ha. Which is fair enough, gotta do what you gotta do, it was more amusing than distracting.
Good acting though at least. And cute kid.
Its decent for background watching while doing something else.
I feel bad giving it a rating. Mostly because it wouldnt be very high. And its cute enough for what it is.
Always happy to see pups as well.

The lead actress had the most annoying voice which grated all the way through the film. The worst was Alice who was working at the theatre when the lead characters went to see the Nutcracker. It sounded like it was playing at speed. Apart from that the film was ok.
So much going wrong for it to be enjoyable - and I have no issue with low-budget movies.
We enjoy wholesome, cheesy movies, but this was actually just bad in too many ways to excuse.
- the music was so loud you couldn't hear most of the dialogue
- there were bizarre editing choices during conversations (the scene where they meet the grandfather made me feel unwell)
- there's a "small town" setting with the largest, most garish cabins I've seen and people pretending they're "rural"
- the male lead kept squinting like he was either high on set or told to do his best Zoolander impression
- the plot a) tells instead of shows and b) has the female lead to succumb to the pressure of her father and new boyfriend

Against its obvious sins, a real nice film. Sure, a lot of cliches and good intentions very far by reality. But the small pieces composing it are not bad,the unrealistic situations are, in few cases, funny and the predactibility can represent a compensation.
Sure, the grandfather and his liitle boy, few drops of romance and some crumbs of real humor but enough for easy film, proposing a new chance and few decent characters.
It is temptanting to critic it. But it is just a decent job. And this can be enough. Because it is the very easy romance, in Hallmark style , not so bad, used, în some measure, for noble purpose. So, just nice.

I'm not going to put a rating on this review; it wouldn't be fair because I fast forwarded through a lot of it. The roller skating scene was symbolic of what was missing. People. Reminds me of some of the Christmas movies of the 2020 Christmas season. Walking empty sidewalks in the downtown shopping center. The plop was traditional, but it takes place in a ghost town. Sorta like a stage play based on four people, but without any supporting townspeople. Like "High Noon" with Gary Cooper. Oops, I just dated myself. Maybe the mistake was to attempt to appear normal, but without backdrop people.

- TriviaThe movie projector Josh uses appears to be a Revere 16mm model 48.
- ErroresWhen Josh turns on the movie projector, the take up reel does not move. If so, film should end up in a pile on the floor.
