I came across this title when I let Tubi I think it was run past the end of Resident Evil. Maybe it's because it's 3am, or maybe it's the several dabs, but I gotta tell you, this movie absolutely does not suck.
Are the performances going to bring home any oscars? Probably not. Is the occasionally stilted and often repetitive dialogue going to win any awards? I doubt it, although there are certainly some gems in there ("I'm sorry, baby! I didn't know you'd die for this pu*sy! You good?"). Is the story contrived and somewhat unoriginal? Sure.
But you know what? I don't care. Because the whole thing is absolutely dripping with passion and heart. Bricks, tho a man of few words, exudes a gravitas that pulled me in. And while the only point of reference I have is a single film class back in college, I'll be damned if this thing wasn't really well shot! Somebody got really creative with camera angles and set dressing and the whole thing feels just incredibly authentic. It started out as background noise but I ended up watching the thing through with focus till the very end. Sure, you see the twist coming from a mile away, but it doesn't make it any less engrossing to watch. Solid flick.

Everything was great in this movie a lot of plots twist and turns. I cannot wait until this hits the main stream because it's most definitely a must see.
The two ppl lying like hell about the ratings. No plot, no scenery. Just a hot ghetto horrible acting mess. Can't believe ol boy who played Biggie is acting on something of this caliber. I've watched low budget movies and liked them before, but this was a disgrace.
But... in a through the guardrail, down the embankment, upside-down, and into weeds kind of way.
The only way this flick gets more than three stars is if you fall asleep after the first ten minutes and dream that you watched a better movie.
You don't have to go to film school to write a good story, nor do you need a degree to operate a camera. What you DO need is to know how to turn a story (if it's good) into a compelling script-which this is not. The writing is unimaginative, unnecessarily repetitive... it's boring.
Likewise, the "cinematography" is cringeworthy. Even for those with no understanding of framing will find many things decidedly unsettling about the operators inability to keep characters in shots, the less-than-cinematic shot choices, the search for focus... There's more, but these things alone are enough to make one stop watching.
Knowing how incredibly difficult a film is to make-from concept to completion-the best I can say is that the sound didn't totally suck. But, they put forth the effort and did get this movie "in the can," which is probably the best place for it.
