After inheriting a family house, a couple moves out to the property to help take control of the property while also dealing with the conditions that go along with the inheritance, but when they notice a hidden danger within the house affecting their relationship must stop an evil entity from haunting them.
This was a formulaic and rather predictable genre effort. One of the better features here is the sense of atmosphere and general environment of living in the house which is quite effectively a traditional Gothic landscape. The ornate furniture and decorations overlooking everything, the darkened vibes without much sunlight getting through, the creaking wooden floors and hallways, and the hidden secrets found within its grounds make for a sterling old-school Gothic interpretation. It feels quite logical and believable that this kind of location allows for what to happen while they stay there to come off as psychologically unhinged as they do. With everything exacerbated by the cultural and racial overtones featured throughout here, it manages to provide a solid enough captivating presence that keeps this one somewhat endearing as it goes along. That's for the best with the rest of the film following these types of storylines to such close scrutiny it becomes bland and predictable otherwise. The splitting couple brought together by an inheritance they think will keep them together, the psychological unraveling that comes about by being in the house far longer than they should, and the series of miscommunications that further spark the growing disconnect in their relationship are intended to be signs of the haunting that's going on here but are so overutilized and familiar they're spotted from a mile away and only help to provide a kind of familiarity into what's happening. It also ends up being a part of the secondary issue where it's so familiar that there's not much in the way of anything interesting happening. As it's far too late in the film to introduce what really happened and what all the hidden hauntings within the house, this all comes off as pretty bland and boring for the most part and is what keeps this down.
Rated Unrated/R: Graphic Language and Violence.

This is the kind of movie I love: scary with a ton of suspense. I really love when a movie makes me sit on the edge of my seat and time stands still, until I throw my popcorn in the air. The writer/director is one and the same person and he has done an excellent job in both roles. Really enjoyed this movie 👍🏻👍🏻

Given my love of all things horror, of course I opted to watch the 2023 movie "Voice of Shadows", as I had the chance to do so here in 2025. Sure, I had never heard about the movie, and thus I didn't know what I was in for, and thus had zero expectations to the movie. As such, I suppose writer and director Nicholas Bain had every opportunity to entertain me with this movie.
I struggled immensely with getting into the storyline that Nicholas Bain put together. There just simply wasn't enough of anything entertaining, scary or even remotely worthwhile happening on the screen, and it was quite a battle of wills to sit through the ordeal that is "Voice of Shadows". Running at 90 minutes, I was still at a loss as to what this movie was about or what the point was in the storyline at the 60 minute marker.
I was not familiar with the cast ensemble in the movie, which was actually something that spoke in favor of the movie, as I do enjoy watching new and unfamiliar talents on the screen whenever I sit down to watch a movie. But the actors and actresses literally had nothing to work with here.
"Voice of Shadows" was a really pointless and forgettable horror experience, and not one I would recommend you to waste 90 minutes on watching. Some of us literally suffered through this dumpster fire of a movie, so you don't have to; you're quite welcome.
There was a priest in the movie, whom said "May she rest in peace," which could also very well be said about this movie.
My rating of "Voice of Shadows" lands on a two out of ten stars.

This is more of a scary mystery than a slasher horror and it was right up my alley. Their is a little blood at the end, but I would say this is a soft R or PG-13 movie.
This movie simmers for awhile but they pay off is great and has some interesting commentary ant twists. The premise is about a young couple and the girlfriend inherit an estate. However, the boyfriend is told he has to leave while his sister and girlfriend are allowed to stay. He doesn't abide by this rule and of course all hell breaks loose.
Martin Harris was really good as Ernesto, an eccentric henchmen of Milda. Bee Vang was great and I had to recall where I recognized him from and it was Gran Torino. The cinematography and set locations were great too.
All and all, we were pleasantly surprised with how good this movie was!

Voice of Shadows is a masterful blend of suspense and supernatural thrills that kept me on the edge of my seat from start to finish. The eerie house serves as a hauntingly perfect backdrop, immersing you into its dark history and unsettling atmosphere. The storyline is both gripping and original, skillfully weaving together twists that kept me guessing. The casting is spot-on, with each actor delivering compelling performances that bring their characters to life. Together, these elements create a chilling experience that lingers long after the credits roll. Highly recommended for horror fans looking for something truly captivating!
