Well, this looked so old fashioned even though it was produced in 2010. The cinematography was as if it was from a series from the 60s or 70s - garish colours, slightly out of focus, nothing sharp. It was so odd to watch.

Then the plot. It was meant to be based on the true story of the disappearance of three teenage girls, whose presumed kidnapping shocked Spain. A few months later their bodies were exposed after a downpour caused a flood. Well, the writers took huge liberties with these basics and constructed a confection that was far fetched and not really plausible.

We are told in the epilogue that the cops knew who had committed the crimes but he was never caught. However, we are not told if he is one of the characters portrayed in the series. It really was fantasy land, I'm afraid.

There were the usual stupidities on show. Revolvers that fire thirty or forty shots without being reloaded. Burglaries that go unreported, for no reason, to the police. Good hard evidence of atrocities that is not handed over immediately. And at the end, a ridiculous coincidence when the anti-hero consults the one doctor in Spain who would dob him in to the baddies.

I watched it through. It wasn't too much of an imposition at seventy minutes each episode. Brain disengaged, feet up and biscuits at one's side is the way to see this.
