Little English

This is an overall ok film, with some redeeming features. Although the story and script are weak, there are occasional good scenes that are more tightly written and directed. The performances of the main cast are strong and help carry the film, which lacks pace for the most part, and is tonally clunky between its dramatic and attempted 'comedic' moments. The best scenes are the ones that let us get closer to the characters, in the middle part. The cinematography is skillful, and the soundtrack is occasionally uplifting. The music could have played a bigger part here, narratively and structurally. Good for casual viewing.

Saw this movie a few days ago and was very pleasantly surprised. I expected the movie to be funny but not to the extent that it really was. I don't generally laugh out loud during a film, but on a number of occasions I did exactly that. It was very professionally made. The camerawork was spot on and the acting by all concerned was great. It definitely made me laugh, but more than that, I found myself getting quite emotional during certain scenes. I didn't expect that! So it was funny, sad, uplifting, and totally entertaining. Whether you're Asian or not, I pretty much guarantee you will enjoy this film. On top of all that, I found out subsequently that this film is a " not for profit " enterprise. How generous of everyone concerned! Kudos to all.

I first saw this film.in 2022 when it was shown as part of the prestigious BIFF screenings, and I LOVED IT! I've seen it several more times, taking groups of my girlfriends and family members and they've all LOVED IT!

It's relatable script, filmed in familiar surroundings, & the cast of talented actors, brought to life a story that had you laughing out loud one minute and crying the next.

Kumar's skillful script writing cleverly creates characters you've never met before -but who you almost recognise as neighbours and work colleagues, this makes them relatable (as well as being extremely funny!)

A few years ago, I had the pleasure of watching Little English as part of the Manchester Indian Film Festival, and it remains a refreshing and authentic British-Asian storytelling experience.

This delightful romcom beautifully portrays the story of a South Asian immigrant daughter-in-law, capturing her struggles, resilience, and moments of joy.

It's a heartfelt tale that unearths the untold, yet relatable, stories found in so many South Asian immigrant families.

The nuanced storytelling, relatable characters, and cultural richness make it a standout film. Bravo to Pravesh Kumar and the entire team for bringing this narrative to life with such authenticity and charm!

We saw this film as part of the Purbeck Film festival and it appealed to a diverse crowd. It was quirky and poignant, familiar yet different, with little Indian cinema references thrown in here and there. There were several laugh out loud moments and the story was engaging, with several plot twists that melded Bollywood drama with real life drama for many British Asians. Some of the characters share a real love hate relationship with the audience and take you on a complex journey; I think everyone will find something in the storyline to identify with and to tug at the heartstrings. The whole party, ages ranging from 11-50 enjoyed the movie.
