Cute but slow

I was really looking forward to this movie as I think two two leads are great. The movie was slow and not terribly interesting.

The best part was the pig.

Great Leads - As Usual - for Autumn and Andrew

The plot is similar to many Hallmark films, but with a few fresh aspects and messages, with two of the best leads that Hallmark has. This makes it worth watching.

It does an excellent job showing how our reliance on technology for efficient work and play can lead to a robotic way of living, and how a balance between work commitment is required with personal emotional commitments. The importance of always caring for our loved ones and new people we meet is demonstrated beautifully with the likeable supporting cast in this film. The piglet was a cute complement!

Certainly a feel good movie, with the relationship between Autumn and Andrew developing without too much of the unrealistic gush that too many of the lower rated Hallmarks have. Some good witty banter, which is what I enjoy in these films. There was no initial meeting of the love interests in a harsh circumstance which too many of Hallmarks feel is necessary, when it is not. How many real romances start that way, anyway?

The relationship developed with both assisting each other with their view of their life journey to that point ... not by forcing any changes ... but by suggesting a few different ways to reflect and view things ... which, of course, they grow to accept in their future life path. This clearly is important in any true romantic relationship, so is demonstrated very well.

Slow down

The premises aren't that unusual on the face of it, but they play out differently and have a fresh feel. Lauren is a workaholic and is forced to take time to slow down. Jack is trying to save the family business.

Autumn Reeser plays the workaholic a bit different than the usual. Maybe it is her combination of extreme competence combined somehow with klutziness. Andrew Walker plays someone who comes off a bit backward or maybe it's more innocent.

The two have definite chemistry and they spend plenty of screen time developing it.

There aren't many big highs or lows or surprises, but that didn't matter. I enjoyed the relationship.

The climax and ending didn't impress me. It lacked a real conflict. It seemed dragged out and included a speech that was a little preachy.

Chill

Stupid title..

Hear me out! Considering her profession it should be less than 24 hours all you can accomplish.

If I had 27 hour- Sure would get more done,so it just defeated the logic.

Was rather bland, felt dragged out & leads had average chemistry.

Cinematography was fine & music nothing special, usually in the wrong place that overtakes talking.

Not a keeper to enjoy later again, another disappointment by Hallmark.

No time to chill

The premise sounded intriguing and reasonably original for Hallmark but part of me was not sure whether it would entirely work, as it did have the potential to feel rushed or have an unlikeable female lead. 2021 was very hit and miss for Hallmark, but that was to be expected considering the circumstances and also they have always been hit and miss. Will admit to not being particularly impressed by most of the previous 2021 Summer Nights films.

As far as the 2021 Hallmark films go, 'The 27 Hour Day' is neither among the best (i.e. 'As Luck Would Have It') or among the worst (i.e. 'Beverly Hills Wedding'). As far as the 2021 Summer Nights films (which had mediocrities such as 'Sand Dollar Cove') go, it is one of the better ones by quite some way and a contender for the best one up to this point of the Summer Nights block. For anybody who likes Autumn Reeser and Andrew W. Walker, personally do like Reeser and Walker is one of the better Hallmark leading men, 'The 27 Hour Day' is well worth watching.

Both Reeser and Walker are immensely engaging in their roles, particularly Walker who brings his usual easy going understated charm. Reeser gives it everything without overplaying and manages in not overdoing any character flaws, which could easily have been done with this premise. While their chemistry doesn't scintillate, it is at least there and is genuine. The supporting cast are solid and the characters didn't annoy or bore me.

It is a good looking film, particularly the scenery, and the music avoids over scoring, intrusion or drabness. The direction is low key but not not pedestrian. The script is mostly light hearted, playful, sincere and charming and the story mostly engages and warms the heart.

By all means, 'The 27 Hour Day' is not perfect. The pacing is uneven, with the film taking a little while to get going and then it feels rushed and a bit chaotic in the final act. The ending is too pat and easily foreseeable, that was not surprising though as a lot of Hallmark films have this problem.

Furthermore, there is too little conflict and what there is is bland.

Overall, nice film. 7/10.

The 27-Hour Day - Record Serve Wine and Enjoy!

Hallmark is nothing if not a 1920/30s style movie studio machine. They have a formula that works and they STICK to it! They sign actors and writers that fit the machine to long-term contracts and they crank out the product the people want. The Hallmark Channel is one of the only TV channels left that actually makes money year after year. If you observe carefully, you'll notice that Hallmark has different teams of actors and writers/directors that could possibly be broken out into A, B and C teams - the "A-team" projects will get more of the actors that are the bigger "box office" draws and get larger production budgets. That takes us to the recent Hallmark movie, The 27-Hour Day, which is a fairly typical "A-Team" Hallmark. The movie stars one of the biggest male Hallmark stars right now, Andrew W. Walker, as well as newer female leads Autumn Reeser and beautiful, talented Rhiannon Fish (who has played the female lead in other Hallmarks such as Love on the Wings of Eagles) and Brenda Crichlow who's a Hollywood star as well as frequent Hallmark star.

SHE is a NYC workaholic who runs a time-saving blog for women. She's at spin class at 5am and still working at midnight. Her career is amazing but her personal life not so much. When an industry leader (Brenda Crichlow) with the power to propel her career even further tells her she needs work-life balance, she finally listens and books a week at a "no-devices allowed" lodge in Montana (shot in British Columbia). HE is a tall and chiseled western/ranch dude. He and his family run said resort. He loves animals (was going to be a vet) he takes life slow but also wants his resort to grow and succeed. Both need to find some life balance and maybe learn from each other. Watch for an "untypical" Hallmark kiss!

Is The 27-Hour Day a formulaic Hallmark? Of COURSE it is! The RomCom Guy says RELAX, Hallmarks need to be rated on their own quality scale. This one is above average. The wardrobe choices are very good (lots of nice tops for the ladies) the scenery is actually quite stunning, while the acting and writing is decent. I say record, serve wine and enjoy!

Autumn Barely Holds it Together (Redux)

After the third viewing, I'd like to add that the story line is erratic and seems like a cut and paste for desired messages. Autumn Reeser barely holds this one together with her charm and slight touch of quirkiness. She has a comic and sensitive nuance and is a seasoned pro. Chances for a good laugh were sometimes lost like where the scene Autumn when unloading her bag of tech gear, computer, iPad, etc. Was rushed. In fact, the first few scenes were hurried and the story line was hard to grasp. Autumn and Andrew had zero chemistry in fact it seemed he wished he was somewhere else. What longfull looks between the two came across as empty. The scenery was beautiful. Overall, since the cast and crew had to deal with the constraints of the COVID restrictions including a two-week quarantine for US personnel the production went well.

Slow and unnatural

You know those movies where you see genuine moments and realistic conversations between characters? This movie has very few of those. Every line felt like a scripted line. Every moment felt jarringly unnatural. And worst of all, it felt slow.

It was pleasant though. If you want background filler while you do something else, this will certainly do the trick. I guarantee you won't miss any of the plot because there almost isn't one.

I like the lead actors, but Autumn was miscast here as a Type A personality. Her entire demeanor is too pleasant and calm for that to work. She deserves a role that matches her vibe.

Loved it

Is it a similar story to the other Hallmark movies? Yes, but that's Hallmark. Autumn and Andrew are just awesome in it. I would watch them in any movie; together or separate.

A LESSON IN BALANCING LIFE

A workaholic Efficency Podcaster, Lauren, (Autumn Reeser), is given advice in order to advance her brand and job opportunities, she must learn to balance work with relaxation. She heads to a Montana Relaxation Retreat, and meets a handsome owner/worker, Jack, (Andrew Walker). Jack's secret dream was to become a veterinarian, but he stopped pursuing it when his dad died and the family needed help in running the Retreat . The storyline is about how Lauren and Jack teach each other about life, love, and the need to stop, breathe and enjoy life.

Autumn and Andrew are well cast in their roles and they do have good chemistry with one another. The supporting cast is also top knotch. And there's even a cute rescued pig thats looking to be adopted. It may be slow in parts, but the pace perfectly fits the script. A pleasant and enjoyable movie.

Don't You Hate When Someone Tells You to "Breathe"?

Well, you shouldn't! Far from typical Hallmark patterns, this movie is for the person on-call 365/24/7 by their job or domestic life demands.

If you, like the main character, have been told to "slow down" (or no one needs to say this because it's you already known to you), here's a plan: have some favorite snacks and beverages on-hand while enjoying your own "27-hour day."

Worth it for Andrew Walker

Was hoping for more from this movie but I had a hard time putting up with Autumn Reeser's character, Lauren. Her triple A-type personality was a bit over the top. The story line is just OK but at least Andrew Walker is in it.

All Of My Favorite Actors

The 2 lead actors are in my top 10 category for their expertise at portraying any Character. I was equally excited to see many of my favorite supporting actors in this movie, who fit so well into this storyline. The movie provides a much-needed reminder for setting priorities between work and family. I feel the ending is very realistic and let's the viewer form their own opinions.

Set in Montana, filmed in Canada, efficiency expert learns to slow down.

She is an efficiency expert based in Manhattan, her company is "The 27 Hour Day", and when she meets a famous influencer she is advised to slow down, find some "me" time. So she arranges a week in a get away in Montana. No cell phones, no computer, no watches. Just relax and eat, sleep, arise when you feel like it. And of course the yearly honey festival.

This wouldn't be a Hallmark movie unless there were an attractive, single man to get her attention. He was once a promising Veterinarian student but dropped out when his dad died, going home to Montana to help run the family farm and business.

The "Hallmark Kiss" comes a little earlier than usual but it fits. This story isn't just a romance story, it has good advice about finding time to relax and to appreciate others around you.

My wife and I watched it at home on DVD from our public library. Good movie, entertaining and meaningful.

A Type -A efficiency expert learns what she has been saving all that time for.

Set in "Montana" this film is about a type-A efficiency expert who has a very popular blog but does not know how to unplug and unwind. This is pointed out to her by a hero of hers after an interview for a potential lecture series that she has been dreaming about being included in. Taking the criticism, Lauren immediately books a one week vacation at a retreat in Montana where you check all of your devices in at the front door.

This had a HUGE impact on Lauren and it shapes her and her blog moving forward. On the retreat she also meets Jack West, one of the owners and a rehabbing pig!

Lauren is played by Autumn Reeser, who is fantastic! She has amazing chemistry with her co-star Andrew W. Walker, of course Andrew would probably have chemistry with cardboard! What I am trying to say is these two are screen gold.

The topic is very timely during these Covid times where people are re-evaluating their priorities. I recommend this film to romantics and type-A's alike. Great reminder to slow down and do some things that really bring you joy, including spending time with the people you value.

This was nice laidback and not forced, as was the romance.

Sorry but it stunk

Andrew Walker is one of my favorite Hallmark leading men. I'm not a big fan of Autumn Reeser but she's been ok in her other movies with other leading men. They just didn't click at all. Less than zero chemistry. The secondary cast wasn't much better. Hallmark keeps casting Brenda Crichlow as the "powerful" CEO, president, whatever and she's terrible at it. She comes off every time like she's imitating the Queen. If they want to cast a black actress in a powerful role they should use a better actress, like Rukiya Bernard or Holly Robinson Peete. They wouldn't overact the way Crichlow does, constantly smirking. The jobs these people have aren't at all believable or relatable to most of us. I think that's why they get better ratings when the characters have relatable roles like small business owners or teachers.

I ended up fast forwarding to the end, which wasn't much better than the beginning. A real disappointment.

No chemistry

I was a little bored with this one. Loved the idea for this movie but needed a different female lead. They barely had anything to talk about. They would make casual conversation yet look at each other with passion. Just forced. I get that the busy working Lauren needs to slow down and relax but I almost fell asleep watching this!
