The film follows an Australian man who travels to Turkey after the Battle of Gallipoli in search of his three missing songs. After previously being absent from streaming, The Water Diviner was recently added to HBO Max and is now available for all subscribers. The film earned modest scores of 63% from critics and 60% from audiences on Rotten Tomatoes, but it grossed only $35 million at the box office against an estimated $22 million budget.

There’s a moment in Ridley Scott’s Gladiator when Russell Crowe’s enslaved Roman general Maximus, fresh from eviscerating five foes in short order, throws his arms in the air and asks a stunned arena, “Are you not entertained? Are you not entertained?”

It would not be that far from fiction to picture the organizers of Sunday night’s Golden Bee Awards repeating the same question after the final spectacle had been presented to close out a nearly three-hour ceremony held inside Gzira’s Fort Manoel in Malta. Presented by the Mediterrane Film Festival and hosted by David Walliams, the outdoor show finished shy of midnight and by that point had featured around a dozen musical numbers (complete with props, backup dancers and custom backdrops), a slew of Hollywood presenters (Anna Camp, Chris Perfetti, Jared Harris, Karen Pittman and Thunderbolts* director Jake Schreier), three fireworks displays and even Maximus himself.

Plenty of actors over the years have benefited from starring in Marvel movies that went on to become huge hits, but perhaps none more than Simu Liu. Relatively unheard of before starring in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, Liu has gone on to lead other hits like Barbie (Margot Robbie), Atlas (Sterling K. Brown), and Last Breath (Woody Harrelson). The New York Times recently released a list of the 100 best films of the 21st century, which included ballots from major Hollywood stars, writers, and directors. Liu was among those to earn a ballet, and he voted Interstellar as one of the best movies of the 21st century — the film finished in spot #89 on the list. Liu also voted for Inside Out, Get Out, La La Land, Tropic Thunder, and more in his list of 10.

From surprise smash hits like Ryan Coogler's horror actioner Sinners to smaller critic and audience favorites like Friendship, long-awaited sequels like 28 Years Later, or blockbusters like A Minecraft Movie and Thunderbolts*, this year has been delivering one buzzworthy film after another, with even more exciting projects on the way. Lost in the murky waters, however, is Woody Harrelson's small, tense survival thriller Last Breath, which came out in the shadow of Captain America: Brave New World and managed to earn solid reviews, but only grossed an underwhelming $23.2 million at the box office. Now, however, the saturation-diving flick is resurfacing on the streaming charts, ranking eighth on Prime Video, just behind the 2024 spider horror movie, Sting.

A star-studded cast and impressive production budget are never guarantees of success. If one man knows this more than many, it's Adam Sandler, whose vast back catalog of high-profile productions includes many that failed to live up to both financial and critical expectations. One such example is 2015's Pixels, a chaotic comedy following an alien invasion of Earth after they misinterpret footage of classic video games as a declaration of war.

Joining Sandler in the impressive cast for Pixels are Peter Dinklage, Kevin James, Josh Gad, and Michelle Monaghan, as well as a cameo from tennis great Serena Williams. But this star-studded lineup proved ultimately useless when trying to craft Pixels a positive reaction. On review aggregator Rotten Tomatoes, Pixels achieved a dismal 18% critics' score, with a 46% audience rating offering at least a glimmer of hope, albeit because of the many other entries in Sandler's filmography with lower comparative ratings.

The film has yet to break into international markets and find success, currently sitting at an overseas total of only $981,000. At the time of writing, Last Breath is the 13th highest-grossing movie of the year at the domestic box office, finishing ahead of the international juggernaut Na Zhe 2 but still behind Wolf Man and Companion (Jack Quaid). It is also one of the top 50 highest-grossing movies ever for Focus Features, surpassing The Holdovers (2023) and The Eagle (2011).

Last Breath began its theatrical run with a $7.8 million opening, which was enough to make it the second-highest-grossing movie of the weekend, falling short of Captain America: Brave New World’s $14.8 million but finishing ahead of The Monkey’s $6.4 million.

“Last Breath” (2025) is based on the true story of a 2012 saturation diving accident in which the dynamics system processor of an underwater vessel failed, causing the diver Chris Lemons to spiral out of control. Lemons was separated from his fellow diver, David Yuasa after his umbilical cable was cut during the accident. Yuasa was left to assume that Lemons had perished, as he had only five minutes of breathable oxygen left in his suit at the time. However, his fellow diver Duncan Allcock, who was operating the deep sea exploration ship, was convinced that Lemons was still alive.

Co-written and directed by Alex Parkinson as a remake of his 2019 documentary of the same name, the new survival thriller follows the true story of a team of seasoned deep-sea divers as they battle the raging elements and race against time to rescue their crewmate trapped hundreds of feet below the ocean's surface. The movie stars Woody Harrelson, Simu Liu, Finn Cole, Cliff Curtis, Mark Bonnar, MyAnna Buring, and Josef Altin.

Now, Last Breath will be available to rent or purchase on digital platforms starting tomorrow, March 18. It will also be released on Blu-ray and DVD on April 29. Yes, this is the lowest grossing weekend of 2025 to date, but not for opera, as the specialty market found its maestro, Ludwig van Beethoven.

The Met: Live in HD transmission of Beethoven’s Fidelio grossed over $860k at about 800 cinemas on Saturday night, one screening.

Conducted by Susanna Mälkki, and starring soprano Lise Davidsen, tenor David Butt Philip, and soprano Ying Fang, the title had the second highest per-screen average of all filmed content across North America and ranked 11 at North American box office yesterday. Encore screenings will play select U.S. cinemas March 19 and Canadian cinemas on March 29, 31, and April 2.

It was a good news/ bad news situation at the box office this weekend for Paramount Pictures. On the one hand, their heavily hyped action comedy, Novocaine, starring The Boys’ Jack Quaid, managed to finish in the top spot (as we predicted). The bad news is that it happened to lead the slowest weekend of the year, with the $8.7 million gross certainly nothing to write home about. That said, considering that the movie sports a thrifty $18 million budget, it didn’t need to have a massive opening, and if word of mouth is good, it could become something of a sleeper. However, the B CinemaScore rating isn’t wild for an action comedy, so it’s possible it won’t be able to have as strong of a hold as the studio is no doubt hoping for.

Indeed, the race for number one didn’t end up being all that close after all.
