I don't understand the negative reviews. It's a nice coming of age story that doesn't try and force a love triangle, I remember being that age and having lots of crushes. I think it's trying to show how quickly things can change with your relationships as a teen. I like the strong friendships shown too. Hate the comments about the actresses teeth, why force everyone to have capped, whitened teeth? The main actress looks lovely. It was nice to showcase a young cast who managed to play their characters well. Yes there were cheesy parts but that's half the fun. Would definitely recommend for fans of the movie or romance/coming of age stories.
The polarizing reviews have been... interesting. I liked "XO, Kitty" quite a bit. I think it's relatable enough; it fairly captures the uncertainty and chaos surrounding teenage love, even though the series might feel all over the place sometimes. It maintains the charm of the movies and possesses lush and beautiful cinematography and sets - it's satisfying to watch in that way. I think the acting is okay, nothing special. I was initially concerned about character depth (given the show's fast pace), but even though some might feel one-sided, it never felt like I didn't know them. The 'plot twist' surprised me but I'm on the fence about it because it isn't thoroughly justified. While I also commend the writers for avoiding certain cliches they totally could've gone with, the script isn't without its qualms. The unrelenting miscommunication between characters bothered me and started to feel like decisions to further the plot. Overall, I thought it was entertaining enough. It's decent popcorn television (much like everything else from the TATBILB franchise). I've loved the characters so far, and I loved meeting new characters. I wouldn't mind seeing them again.
As someone who has watched K-dramas for many years now, I found this mix of American TV and Korean TV a really interesting concept. But in my opinion, it wasn't executed in the best way.
I wish they would have leaned more into the style of k-dramas: a more slow-paced and slow-burn style. Instead, this series felt messy. Sometimes it was hard to keep up with all the love triangles and the drama.
I don't think the actors did a bad job, but the lines and dialogue were often quite awkward, which didn't serve the actors any justice. But when it wasn't too much, I did occasionally enjoy the fluffy and corny feeling in this. Sometimes we even got some interesting thoughts from the main character that other teenage dramas don't touch on.
I also liked the incorporation of K-pop, there were many great songs in this. But again, it felt messy. There were almost too many songs and sometimes they didn't quite fit in. I wish they had stuck with a distinctive sound for this, instead of trying to cram in every popular K-pop song from the last few years.
Overall, I liked this idea, but it lacked cohesiveness and authenticity. I wish there had been more time to explore individual characters more, since there were many interesting stories in this.

This had good actors, amazing OST and deep, controversial and emotional themes (being LGBTQ, multi racial, teenagers having sex and casually dating, multiracial characters...all of that being in South Korea is shocking to say the least) but without getting too dramatic into them.
Theoretically all those ingredients would let you as a result a pretty good series, but although it is interesting, it is also a hot mess.
The plots and subplots are extremely unbelievable and there's hole after hole, how the hell can you just guess who gave you in adoption by looking at some pictures?? Unrealistic is an understatement.
Then it becomes very erratic and confusing when everyone likes everyone ( literally) and all characters turn to be gay/bisexual. I was so happy when I saw there was not only one gay couple but also a lesbian one but then a love triangle becomes a whole love group thing? It made me feel like I didn't have anyone to root for because love interests changed so fast!
I didn't like that at all.
Overall is interesting and I like the fact that they kept it quite real with the korean interactions and original language, they casted actual koreans and not just Americans.
If it was longer I wouldn't have watched it, but is so short it was okay. I probably will give the potential second season a miss.

I can't agree with the negative reviews on here, sure it's not a deep artist masterpiece, but it is adorable and fun! I think the cast is all super cute and they did a really great job acting their parts. The characters I think r fleshed out and endearing.
The plot itself flows like a kdrama but the American influence is undeniable, and that might annoy an avid kdrama fan but personally I think the writers did a great job walking the line. I really like the queer representation in the show and they did a good job not making them stereotypical.
I think the twists in the show were also well written and fun. The writing could have been trashy or sloppy but I found it to be juicy and cute! If you like something lightheaded, cute, and fun with decent writing of if u like American or kdrama's I think it's worth a try!
