I wasn't expecting this to be so sweet and heartwarming and innocent, but it's set in the 80s, so maybe that has something to do with it, and to be about such a cute brother-sister dynamic is also unusual for South Korea. But what I wasn't expecting it to go from that into teen love and then into trauma-core. I didn't see the twist about Bookyung coming but I thought the transition was done so well and then it was interesting to discover and make sense of all those things in the past but the dad was too much. I get his twisted thinking but to not even be aware of his son's progress in school is just downright neglect. Damn, those old-school fathers were something else.
Wasn't too keen on the love story, I felt it didn't really belong and I didn't feel it, I am not a fan of the combative type of romance cause that never makes sense to me in real life. But oh well, that is kind of a trope in Korean cinema as well, I have seen it several times and never liked it.
Joonkyung looks a little too old to be a high-school junior. But I know people used to age/mature faster in the past. Maybe that was a sneaky choice? I don't know.
The best part for me was the brother-sister chemistry. That could've been the whole movie for all I care. A much shorter one hopefully. Cause I felt the length a little towards the end.

This is a small-scale story. You might wonder if it's based on a true story, but it is indeed a real one. It's set in a small town in North Gyeongsang Province in the 1980s, a place with railway tracks passing through but no station. The protagonist, Joon-kyeong, may not have known how much his dream would change the lives of many, but determination finds a way. The consensus among the villagers is to build a station, but even more crucial is getting a train to cooperate. So, the latter part of the film is about the efforts Joon-kyeong must make, which is much like our everyday lives. When you voice your dreams, there's always someone who resonates with you, but you also have to be the one to face the challenges and persevere. Having the ability to help others is what attracts people to help you.
Gi-juk is based on a.true story about a train station in a small village. The story will give you a heartwarming effect while you watching it. Beginning of the story will make you laugh, but when you reach the conflict of the movie you'll cry a lot (prepare your tissue before). Each of the character are attractive, but you'll remember bo-kyeong in your heart even after the movie ended because for me she is the main star. Park jeongmin played as Joon-Kyeong soo good, the emotions burst out from his eyes, yoona played as Ra-hee she'll make you laugh a lot! But all of the actors played their character excellent. I dont have any comment for the plot because its beautiful! Make sure to watch it, there won't be any regret.
The railway is connected with death. It is difficult for the living to go on living. Only let go of the burden of heart, can move towards hope. All the kinship finally began to heal after the confession, the younger brother grew up to be as big as the elder sister, and the father was as fragile as a child. The Muse supports her lover and gets love, and the audience witnesses the miracle.
A rea life based friction movie which is really Beautiful and also heart breaking as will, from the beginning of the movie where both jung joon keon and jung bo keon walking on the railway track i felt some tragic thing will happen,,, and at that moment i can't control myself and also you as well,, It's heartbreaking when you see your close one die uncertainty which is happen in my real life, and i Don't know may be thats why i connect myself with this story,, and the beautiful thing is his sister always with him throughout his journey which makes me happy, and in the end i just appreciate lee so kyung, park jing min, yoon ah, lee sung min for their brilliant acting.,,,
