My Prime subscription had just ended and I was looking for something interesting to watch on TV, so I began seeing if there were any new Voot shows that were actually good. I saw all the recent ones, and while none of the others seemed really interesting, this one attracted me the most. After seeing the first episode I decided to get a Voot subscription and watched the show. Although initially I had given it a 10 star rating in the beginning, after completing the show I think that was too much. So now I have come back to edit my review and give a better, more detailed review.
Candy is a story set in Rudrakund, where there is a teacher named Jayant (played by Ronit Roy), whose wife is still mourning the death of their daughter and carry a rock to remember her. Meanwhile there has been a murder in the town (which they call a "city" smh), and the only witness, a girl named Kalki, says that Mehul has been killed by Masaan, a demon that looks like a beast with horns and red glowing eyes. The title is based on drugs-filled candies that are distributed to everyone across Rudrakund by Vayu Ranaut aka Mr Rabbit. Vayu is the son of the MLA Money Ranaut and he really hates his father, and basically just wants to move out of there. Due to the lack of cooperation by the police, Jayant decides to go out and catch Masaan on his own.
The story of this show is the selling point. There are so many twists in the story and yet it is so cohesive, at no point the viewer can get bored of this. The acting by Ronit Roy, Richa Chaddha and Gopal Dutt is incredible. Vayu actually reminded me a lot about Angry Prash because of the Mr Rabbit masquerade. The opening theme's animation was also very good, and basically the reason why I was hooked to watching this so much. Seeing all the bad guys either dying or reforming was also very satisfying. And the ending was absolutely unbelievable. I didn't expect the story to unfold like this even until the second last episode.
In spite of being such a good show, however, there are many problems that plague it, and they would have overshadowed the bad stuff if this show wasn't so good. First of all the abuses. Like how one bite of laung or elaichi can ruin an entire biryani, similarly having an abuse in every sentence can ruin the whole scene. Many times my mom used to come in the living room, so I had to turn off the TV because I was scared when the characters might suddenly start abusing. The whole deal of showing Vayu to be Mr Rabbit also looked very rushed. If it had to be revealed in the first episode itself who he is, what was the whole point of even showing him with a mask? It's not like no one knows who he is.
Many people have marked my review unhelpful and I apologise for that. Probably I should have seen the whole show before deciding to write the review. Back then I had said that this is the best Voot Original, even beating Asur. But now it seems it isn't that good. I would definitely like to see what Season 2 will bring (yes, there will be a Season 2), so let's hope they will probably reduce the number of cuss words and focus more on what is important instead of picking up a plot and then throwing it away.

Sub-standard dialogues screenplay and direction. Why people have rated it 10 i don't understand . It doesn't deserve more than 5 . So cliche and awful direction .... Disappointed with Ronit Roy watched it for him .
I liked the concept, Superb direction and story. Visuals at its best. Highly recommended hats off to everyone in this series just awesome.
The early reviews posted are made only by watching 2/3 episodes but Iam reviewing after seeing the whole series
The makers started really well and the first 2/3 episodes were very gripping and with good twists but from the 4th episode to the 8th episode the series became slow and was dragged
Richa and ronit have played really well and the direction was also good..the story is chain of murder mysteries and shot in beautiful hilly regions ..little more thrill and humour was required rather than extra killings
The climax was loose and did not represent the need to conclude the end
Above all a good series.
