The film keeps the audience engaged from start to finish, skillfully blending psychological tension with thought-provoking storytelling. It presents an intricate exploration of the human mind, raising questions about reality, perception, and the blurred lines between consciousness and the subconscious.

Despite being a low-budget film, ABROAD defies expectations with its exceptional production quality. The cinematography is visually striking, effectively immersing viewers in its atmospheric setting. The meticulous attention to detail in lighting, framing, and visual composition enhances the film's overall aesthetic appeal, making it feel far more sophisticated than its budget might suggest. Additionally, the sound design plays a crucial role in building tension, further heightening the film's psychological impact.

Abroad starts out decently enough but shows itself to be painfully low budget with a small cast, and it gives almost COVID feels. The Pacific Northwestern small town seems more like a ghost town, literally no one is there except for some white people who all look alike. I thought this might be an Asian version of Get Out at first, but later on it's obviously just a low budget movie with a tiny cast.

I have seen much better low budget films and I have seen much better Korean films, so I refuse to overrate Abroad, because the current seven and half stars here seems unnaturally inflated.

That being said, the twists are very clever.

I love to see movies like this! Original ideas from new indie filmmakers.

Bridging cultural themes, pushing boundaries and trying exciting avant garde techniques.

Edge of the seat story had me wondering what will happen next, beautifully shot landscapes with very cool camera work.

Really enjoyed some of the more complicated shots that had a lot of action all in one take.

The acting was great! Wonderful to see new faces that really stand out.

Local actors with amazing performances combined with incredible "fish out of water" lead actors. Two awesome worlds collide. Can't wait to see what this team does next! I'll be watching!

At the same time, it explores how the subconscious senses hostility in an alienating foreign environment.

The film also presents an intriguing portrayal of gender roles in Asian societies, adding yet another layer of depth. I would describe it as precisely ambiguous - like a social landscape meticulously constructed with surgical precision yet filled with elusive signs. It feels both "foreign" and compelling, a testament to the creative possibilities of low-budget independent filmmaking. All in all, I look forward to seeing what the director creates next.
