The desk where Stu sits and receives his curse was a real desk at a real mortgage firm. As of June 2009, in the company's 5 year history they have fired only 4 people. 2 of them had sat at the "Stu" desk after production of the film. Trying to prove the "desk curse" false one employee volunteered to take the desk. She abandoned it after two weeks of no commission.
