A return to the big screen by Hong Kong screenwriter and director Lo Chi Leung since directed probably his best films “The Vanished Murderer” (2015) and “The Bullet Vanishes” (2012) starring Lau Ching Wan. Before that, he also directed Leslie Cheung in “Inner Senses” (2002) and “Double Tap” (2000). Unfortunately, “Come Back Home” (2022), a search-and-rescue drama funded by Mainland China and starring Donnie Yen, was a big flop at the box office. Otherwise it would have been a nice return for Lo and Yen in a purely dramatic non-action role.

The desperate parents go to the local police and Chief Bai (Tianlai Hou) heads up the search. With time running out and revelations about De's actions coming to the surface, the chances of Lele's rescue diminish.

"Give my boy back!" Well Go USA has set a VOD / DVD release date for this Chinese survival thriller. Polar Rescue is finally getting a US release this March after originally debuting in China back in late 2022. It also goes under the title Come Back Home, which is a bit more emotional and less direct than the bland "Polar Rescue" that it is now. After a young boy gets lost during a bitter snowstorm, his frantic parents (starring both Donnie Yen and Cecilia Han) seek help from the local police, who are soon faced with a desperate race against the clock as hours tick by with no sign of the child anywhere. Donnie Yen stars as the father, De, who decides to go out in this dangerous cold and snow his own to find him. The cast also includes Jia Bing as Qian Jun and Xu Tang as Xiao Jiang.

The fans have spoken and Jenna Ortega has won the award for Best Performance in a Show at the MTV Movie & TV Awards. Ortega won the role for playing the titular Addams Family favorite in Wednesday, the Netflix series that has garnered immensely high viewership along with widespread praise. Ortega may have been the favorite heading into the event, given her popularity, and it was not the surprise of the century to see the Wednesday star picking up this win.

With that said, the other nominees were solid and would have been just as deserving of getting the award. The 2023 MTV Movie & TV Awards went on with a pretaped ceremony amid the writers strike and talent pulling out in support of the movement.

Drew Barrymore dropped out of hosting duties earlier this week and pledged to return next year. Barrymore had already pretaped the opening segment of the show where she was inserted in scenes from films like Cocaine Bear, M3GAN, and Top Gun: Maverick, as well as TV shows like The White Lotus, all while dressed as her Never Been Kissed character Josie Gellar.

Pedro Pascal took the first golden popcorn trophy of the night for his role in The Last of Us.

“I wish we could all be together so that I could look into your eyes and tell you that all the young people in the world are my heroes and I wouldn’t be here if it weren’t for you,” he said in his acceptance speech.

The MTV Movie & TV Awards faced a series of roadblocks this year due to the ongoing Writers Guild of America strike. While the awards show was set to broadcast live on Sunday, it was announced that due to the strike, the network would air a pre-taped special as several attendees announced they were pulling out of the show.

The first round of presenters for the 2023 MTV Movie & TV Awards have been announced.

MTV unveiled Thursday the star-packed lineup set to take the stage for the May 7 ceremony that recognizes the biggest and best in movies and television, across scripted and unscripted.

The first round of presenters include Jamie Lee Curtis, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Gal Gadot, Halle Bailey, Anthony Ramos, Ashley Park, Ayo Edebiri, Busta Rhymes, Dave Burd “Lil Dicky,” Dominique Fishback, Stephanie Hsu, Riley Keough, Sam Claflin, Camila Morrone, Suki Waterhouse and Tiffany Haddish.

Presenters also include the cast of Yellowjackets including Courtney Eaton, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Liv Hewson, Samantha Hanratty, Sophie Nélisse and Sophie Thatcher; The Summer I Turned Pretty stars Lola Tung, Christopher Briney and Gavin Casalegno; and the stars of hit reality shows Vanderpump Rules including Ariana Madix, Katie Maloney, Lala Kent and Scheana Shay, as well as Selling Sunset stars Chrishell Stause and Chelsea Lazkani.
