Starz has announced the movie and TV titles that will be available on the service in May. The Starz May 2025 schedule includes the season four finale of Power Book III: Raising Kanan, plus movies such as Flight Risk, My Big Fat Greek Wedding 3, and the American Pie franchise.

A blockbuster-worthy lineup of fan-favorite films will also be available. Highlights include the high-octane thriller Deja Vu, starring Denzel Washington; the suspenseful drama The Call, starring Halle Berry and Morris Chestnut; the empowering revenge drama Enough, starring Jennifer Lopez; and the epic adventure flick King Kong, starring Naomi Watts, Adrien Brody, and Jack Black.

In season three of “Raising Kanan,” Kanan Stark finally stopped living in the shadow of his mother and assumed control of his life, taking matters into his own hands by orchestrating the deaths of Ronnie and Detective Howard.

Melissa Roxburgh has been cast in a lead role of the upcoming NBC drama series “The Hunting Party,” Variety has learned.

The series was originally announced at NBC back in February. It is described as a crime procedural about “a small team of investigators who are assembled to track down and capture the most dangerous killers our country has ever seen, all of whom have just escaped from a top-secret prison that’s not supposed to exist.”

Roxburgh will star as Rebecca “Bex” Henderson. The character is described as “Shrewd, steadfast and obsessively curious, Bex is an ex-fbi agent recruited to an elite government task force due to her reputation as a savvy profiler who’s caught some of the world’s most dangerous serial killers.”

The role marks a starring role return to NBC for Roxburgh, as she is best known for her starring role in the supernatural drama series “Manifest.

Adam Frank and Jill Anderson will lead Lionsgate’s worldwide transactional home entertainment business. The longtime Lionsgate executives were promoted amid a strong moment for Lionsgate’s at-home entertainment departments.

The studio achieved an 11.9% industry share for the first half of 2023. That is a record for the studio in terms of market share. Theatrical titles like “John Wick: Chapter 4,” “Sisu” and “Plane” drove that upswing alongside multiplatform releases like “Alice, Darling, “The Old Way” and “Mindcage” along with library titles like “Knives Out,” “Django Unchained” and “Sicario.”

“Our transactional home entertainment business continues to thrive due to our team’s ability to create bespoke windowing strategies for our theatrical releases and library titles and over-convert across their PVOD, transactional Est, VOD and packaged media windows,” Lionsgate Motion Picture Group President of Global Licensing & Distribution Ron Schwartz said in a statement.

The company said its 11.9% market share through the first half of calendar 2023 was the studio’s highest for a six-month period, driven by new releases John Wick: Chapter Four, Plane and Sisu; multiplatform releases Alice, Darling, The Old Way and Mindcage; and library titles Knives Out, Django Unchained, Dirty Dancing and Sicario.

Frank, a 12-year veteran of the company, has been promoted to EVP, Global Partner Management, Sales & Distribution, overseeing global transactional digital and packaged media operations and heading up sales, licensing and strategic planning initiatives for the home entertainment group.

Martin Lawrence is known for his comedic roles, but in Mindcage he plays it straight as Detective Jake Doyle who along with his partner Mary Kelly is tracking down a serial killer whose handiwork we see in the opening scene, a woman’s body turned into a statue in a church.

The killing looks like it was inspired by the work of a previous serial killer Arnaud Lefeure, better known as The Artist. Jake put him away years ago though and he’s scheduled to be executed in two weeks. After another victim is found, transformed into an angel, and attached to a locomotive the decision is made to try to get help from Lefeure.

There are tried and true tropes that grab hold of the viewer’s attention and don’t let up. An elaborately-staged crime scene? You have my attention. A rookie police officer paired with an old stand-by scarred from a case in his past? Definitely. Cops interviewing a locked-up serial killer for his thoughts on another murderer in their midst? Yes, please.

When jumbled together and dumped out like Scrabble letters, these formulas often build to something coherent if not compelling, except in the instance of “Mindcage.”

Directed by Mario Borrelli and written by Reggie Keyohara III (the two previously collaborated on “WarHunt”), “Mindcage” tells the story of cops Jake Doyle and Mary Kelly as they investigate elegantly-arranged murders of women sculpted and posed like angels in death.
