After years of putting it out into the universe, Dave Bautista's dream of starring in a romantic comedy has finally come true. Almost. The former WWE champion has been very vocal about his desire to be a leading man in Hollywood, and not the type that saves the day by killing a horde of zombies. Instead, he's wished for years to be taken more seriously as an actor and not an action star, and his new project just might make people see him in a different light.
Per Deadline, Paramount has acquired the rights to The Romantic, a rom-com script written by Deborah Kaplan and Harry Elfont that has Bautista attached to star. It's all in the very early stages of development, so no director has been announced, nor have any additional cast members been brought on board. The show’s wider appeal was evident as it also secured a spot in the Top 3 on Netflix’s Global Top Shows, holding its ground for several months.
Yrf Entertainment’s first movie collaboration with Netflix, “Maharaj,” also made its mark. The Siddharth P. Malhotra-directed period piece, released on June 21 this year, quickly ascended to the second position on Netflix’s non-English film category top ten list.

Throughout her career, Daniels maintained longstanding partnerships with producer Riva Marker and A24, worked as a producer for The Mill and Company 3 and served as a consultant for the Icelandic Film Fund.
“Eva died on the same terms as she lived. She played her cards close to her chest. She didn’t seek recognition when she had success. She didn’t seek pity when she suffered. Most recently, Daniels executive produced the Berlin Film Festival selection and Max feature, “Reality,” which stars Sydney Sweeney and was directed by Tina Satter.

Mumbai, Feb 18 (Ians) The recently released Ott docu-series ‘The Romantics’ is garnering a lot of positive response and the director Smriti Mundhra feels that one reason that the audience is loving the series so much is that Yrf head-honcho Aditya Chopra appeared on camera after so many years.

In Netflix’s “The Romantics,” a new docuseries about the legacy of Indian director Yash Chopra, there’s one word you’ll barely hear: “Bollywood.”
The Hindi-language film industry was so named as a portmanteau of Bombay (now Mumbai) and Hollywood, but its key players have always hated being defined by the West. At one point, Oscar-nominated director Smriti Mundhra asks her interview subjects — a jaw-dropping lineup of Hindi film A-listers, including Shah Rukh Khan, Amitabh Bachchan, and Chopra’s own wife Pamela — how they feel about the term; none of them responds positively.
“Hate it,” Ranbir Kapoor says while taking a sipping of his drink.
In its century of existence, the Hindi film industry — and the rest of India by extension — have catalyzed entertainment culture in ways that no one mashing up the words “Bombay” and “Hollywood” could ever have imagined. This is a world defined by mesmerizing music,...

The Romantics is an Indian documentary series directed by Smriti Mundhra.
Yasi Chopra was a Bollywood film director who died in 2012 and left an immense legacy of movies, memories and experiences that Neflix brings to us today in the form of interviews, files and above all, lots of joy and color.
Chopra made his first feature film in the Seventies and during 40 years of work, left a legacy and a mark in Bollywood that is hard to forget. This documentary series that includes scenes by the director himself and some of his main actors, tries to make us re-live from within, the magic of cinema and above all, his enthusiasm.
A docu-series which, like Bollywood, is happy, vivid, funny and, yes, very sentimental.
Good editing work, inserting interviews in a rhythmic way and which has managed to tell and document a life in movies.
To be enjoyed.

Indian-American filmmaker Smriti Mundhra is again collaborating with Netflix on docu-series The Romantics, which looks back on 50 years of iconic Indian film studio Yash Raj Films (Yrf) and its late founder Yash Chopra.
The four-part series is streaming globally from today (February 14), deliberately coinciding with Valentine’s Day, as Chopra was known for directing romantic films such as Kabhi Kabhie, Veer-Zaara, Chandni and Lamhe.
Mundhra has filmed interviews with 35 figures of the Hindi-language film industry, from major stars including all three ‘Khans’, Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan and Aamir Khan, to producers, writers, critics, journalists, and costume designers.
But the real coup was getting Chopra’s famously reclusive son, Aditya Chopra, to talk on camera. A filmmaker in his own right, Chopra directed the longest-running Hindi film ever, Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (known colloquially as Ddlj), and took over the reins of the studio following his father’s death in...

In its basic conceit, Stranger Things has always been about what’s transpiring beneath the surface—specifically in the haunting alternate dimension The Upside Down, lurking underneath the fictional town of Hawkins, Indiana. The ranks of female film directors are about to swell a little more, as Katie Holmes confirms her plan to helm the upcoming adaptation of the debut novel from Annie Weatherwax – All We Had. The script is being written by Josh Boone (Stuck In Love, The Fault In Our Stars), with Holmes starring and pulling producer duties alongside Jane Rosenthal (Little Fockers) and Berry Welsh (NYC 22).
The story is described as ‘wry and sharply observed’ by publishers Simon And Schuster, and centres on a mother and 13 year old daughter, who find themselves existing on the verge of poverty in small town America, after their old life implodes. Holmes will play the role of the mother, but there is no news yet on wider casting.
While this news will almost certainly be met in many quarters with derision, it is important to note that, of late, Holmes has finally begun to come into her own.

It's not a pixie or a bob, but Katie Holmes went darker and shorter for the holiday season. The Romantics actress, who turns 35 this month, debuted a new, sophisticated, chocolate-brown hair color and shorter, cleaner cut at the Z100 Jingle Ball in NYC last weekend. The transformation was so subtle that fans nearly missed her new beauty look, which includes a color nearly identical to Kate Middleton's November transformation. At first glance, the brunette's new 'do seems slight, but the face of Bobbi Brown made moves: Suri's [...]...

Who knew Katie Holmes could rock a bold, red lip so beautifully? The actress, 34, puts Us in the holiday spirit as the face of Bobbi Brown's Old Hollywood collection campaign. Dressed in a festive, red, lace cutout dress by Fabiola Arias, Tom Cruise's ex looks fierce and flawless in the retro-styled holiday ad campaign. Holmes, who is usually spotted wearing minimal makeup while running errands in Manhattan (where the actress lives with daughter Suri, 7), completely transforms in the holiday ad campaign. The Romantics leading lady looks [...]...

The Romantics
Stars: Katie Holmes, Anna Paquin, Josh Duhamel, Malin Akerman, Adam Brody, Dianna Agron, Jeremy Strong, Rebecca Lawrence, Candice Bergen, Elijah Wood | Written and Directed by Galt Niederhoffer
When looking at The Romantics there is a simple question, did you like Dawson’s Creek? If so then you’ll probably like this. Katie Holmes is a good actress but at times her roles can be quite similar in appearance, role and casting. This could be said to be the weakest part of The Romantics, but the fact is there is a strange charm that will catch your interest if you let it, though overall still feeling there was something lacking.
When friends and family make their way to a beach house for the wedding of Lila and Tom everything should be perfect for the main event. With storm clouds threatening though and a history between Tom and the maid...

The Romantics finally gets its UK DVD release this week. The Gen Y dramedy chronicling the enmeshed lives of seven college friends was filmed in late 2009 and in the intervening years the supporting cast have gone on to become headline names themselves.
But back in 2009 Katie Holmes was the biggest star on the bill and it is she who top-lines. Capitalising on those Joey Potter powers of irresistibility, she stars as Laura, the one-that-got-away from groom-to-be Tom (Josh Duhamel). Thrown together during the rehearsal and build up to his high society wedding (to her former roommate and sometime friend Lila), their chemistry is as inextinguishable as it is predictable.
Lila (Anna Paquin) loves Tom with all her heart but she is pragmatic and understands how easily his head could be turned. Her friend’s adult lives have complications of their own – nicknamed The Romantics at college, when they were young...

Katie Holmes arrived at a Broadway theater yesterday to rehearse for her upcoming play, Dead Accounts. The actress had her daughter, Suri Cruise, along as she headed to work. Katie gave Suri a lift into the theater and also carried a few of her stuffed animals for her. Katie is reportedly bonding with her costars on the project as they gear up for the play's debut later this month. The cast eats lunches together and last week, Katie was also seen catching up with fellow actor Josh Hamilton during a break. Since her split from Tom Cruise, Katie has spent most of her time with Suri and at work, but she's also reconnected with some old friends. She stepped out in support of fellow designer Narciso Rodriguez earlier this month at the launch party for his Kohl's collection, and has also hung out with friends including her former costar from The Romantics,...
