Karma Strikes

'Karma Strikes', a riveting debut film by Kartik, captures the allure and pitfalls of debauchery, the Karmic retribution it entails, and the drastic atonement ('Prayaschit) it warrants for cathartic salvation as a finale. A compelling story well depicted with nuanced direction and emotive performance by the cast that is well accentuated with soothing music seamlessly woven through the scenes.

Amit Mishra, Yuvdanyee, and Puja deliver an engaging performance. Special mention to Amit for his nuanced portrayal of altering emotions, the love for his daughter, the entrapment in illicit affair, and the escalating quandary. The mellow music with good lyrics, and an element of pathos is soulful, in particular 'Khalipan' and 'Naye raaste'.

The film conveys the caveat that a fatal attraction can be inextricably fatal!

For a team completely new, this is a top class film. Not easy for a guy starting his career in films to act in a role which has many shades of grey. Well done Amit Mishra.

But for me, the real hero of the film is the director- Kartik Venkatraman! Making his first film on a sensitive topic- infidelity, is never easy. But he gets the story right, the mood of the film right.

Loved the way he narrates his story of infidelity to his future son in law. Never seen such a unique story telling technique before.

All the characters in this movie have been exceptionally well considering all of them are new comers. The lead actors have given thrilling performance. Supporting actors have performed so effortlessly.

Movie will kept you entertaining till the end and hook you throughout. The music and the songs are fresh and melody.

This is directed by a very talented friend kartik. He is born to direct movies as he simply lives within art entertainment circles. A lot of hard work has been put through this movie.

This is his first movie and shoutout for choosing the thriller drama as his first one.

Overall the movie is captivating and a must watch for a new director Kartik and Actor Amit.

Directed by Kartik Swaminathan Independent & first time Filmmaker from "New York Film Academy"; "Karma Strikes" is a Great Thriller. Having a new star cast , you may have to be patient for the first 20 mins until the movie takes over. I was pleasantly surprised to see how this first time Director was able to get such fine performances from his first time actors Amit, Yuvradnyee & Puja. Amongst songs notably "Khalipan" is brilliantly shot & stands out. Its a thriller having a hue of Romance, such complex subject handled with such flair. Recommended watch.

Accolades for the first time director Kartik. A well written & directed movie. The story is very gripping and keeps you engrossed through the movie. Unexpected twists and turns are really nice. The characters are well chosen and play appropriate part and the story is at a good pace. Music is decent and soothing. Shot across US & India, the movie tries to capture the cultural perspective quite well and is an interesting family drama with lots of surprise elements. The movie as the name suggests, brings out the past karmas and its effects in life good or bad striking wihin one's lifetime. Overall a good watch.
