As you can see from the trailer, Giant tracks the boxer’s humble beginnings as a child in Sheffield to sports superstardom as an adult. The follow-up to 1998's hit supernatural comedy landed a 2026 release date, with Bird Box and The Night Manager filmmaker Susanne Bier stepping in for original director Griffin Dunne. Kidman and Bullock have both worked with Bier before — on Netflix original series The Perfect Couple and 2018 movie Bird Box, respectively. Like the original, Practical Magic 2 is based on characters created by author Alice Hoffman in her 1995 novel of the same name.

Hugh Laurie will play the head of a crime syndicate in a new thriller series alongside Game of Thrones and Westworld stars. The English actor is best known for his portrayal of the eponymous Dr. Gregory House on the Fox medical drama House (2004-2012), for which he received six Emmy nominations. Since then, he's remained a reliable presence on television, playing the main antagonist in the miniseries The Night Manager and guest starring in the HBO sitcom Veep, receiving two more Emmy nominations.

Now, the eight-time Emmy-nominated actor has found a new series. According to Deadline, Hugh Laurie will headline the new Apple TV+ series The Wanted Man alongside Thandiwe Newton (Westworld) and Stephen Dillane (Game of Thrones). The series, described as a thriller drama, hails from George Kay, the co-creator of the Apple TV+ series Hijack, and also stars Fionn Whitehead (Dunkirk), Gina McKee, Hazel Doupe, and Elliott Heffernan.

Film and TV studio Fifth Season has promoted Sheridan Thayer to executive vice president and head of television physical production, The Hollywood Reporter has learned exclusively. The company has additionally hired Lauren Deitch from Netflix as vice president of television development and production.

Fifth Season is the studio behind Apple TV+ hit Severance; Thayer contributed to that one in her former role as senior vice president and deputy head of television production. She’ll continue reporting to Todd Sharp, Fifth Season’s president of production and current; Deitch will report to Jill Arthur and Noah Greenshner, executive vice presidents of television development and production.

Days after the first images from The Roses were released, Searchlight Pictures has proceeded to unveil the first official trailer for the film. Starring Benedict Cumberbatch and Olivia Colman, The Roses is a remake of the 1989 film The War of the Roses, which stars Michael Douglas and was directed by Danny DeVito, who also stars in the film. The story is based on the novel The War of the Roses by Warren Adler, and it follows a once-happy married couple who get into a competition to see who can drive the other out of the house faster. The first trailer for The Roses shows off the film’s breathtaking cinematography from director of photography Florian Hoffmeister. Variety has learned that the drama “Legacy of Spies” is currently in the works from producer The Ink Factory and with Fifth Season onboard to distribute. Macfadyen would star as George Smiley, a central character in a number of le Carré’s novels. Stephen Cornwell and Clarissa Ingram have written the initial scripts for the potential series, with Graham Yost onboard as an executive producer.

The project is described as an amalgamation of a number of le Carré’s novels, including “The Spy Who Came In From The Cold,” “Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy,” and “The Honorable Schoolboy,” as well as others and some unpublished work.

According to an individual with knowledge of the project, it has already been pitched to buyers both in the U.S. and U.
