Very poignant, well drawn, well produced, relaxing anime about the balance man/nature, the cycle of life, finding each one's place in the world and overcoming loss and grief.
Everything through the eyes of 2 very different girls that find themselves torn by a fate that doesn't seem willing to second their dreams.
While I liked it very much I found a very heavy burden in the morals which most of the storylines subtend.
Conservative views about how things should be (everyone has to stay in his place, do the right thing and everything will be fine, work hard, etc) in particular are a little dislikable: the writers should have used a more delicate hand about these topics (which in the west might be perceived as more "nuanced" than elsewhere, but nonetheless...). But this is the story of girls becoming women, not a philosophical novel, therefore it's just a minor fault: all in all a memorable journey for grown-ups and a great touching dramedy for 14yo and older.
Very good moving music as well. Thanks to the authors and everyone involved.

This anime series, set in Okinawa, is centred on two girls. Kukuru Misakino, who works as the deputy director at the Gama Gama Aquarium, and Fuuka Miyazawa, a former idol from Tokyo who has given up on her dream of fame and taken a job at Gama Gama. As the series progresses the girls experience various ups and down but Kukuru never loses her love of all things aquatic and Fuuka learns more about sea creatures and the running of aquaria.
This is one of those delightful slice of life anime where not a huge amount happens but it is fun to watch. That isn't to say there are no dramas; the characters do have their ups and downs. These do involve something that could prove a major upset mid-series but soon things are going well enough for the characters; even though Kukuru does have to deal with changes in her work. The two leads, as well as the supporting cast are fun to watch. The animation is good; with impressive shots of the fish frequently appearing and solid character designs. The Okinawan setting is rather nice too. Overall I'd definitely recommend this to fans of gentle paced slice of life anime.

I haven't watched anime in years. This series was one of the first series that I watched to break the hiatus, and I have to say it was a very good pick.
I loved the first half of the season especially, there was a very poignant, meaningful and spiritual message to be had. The second half, while equally as good, didn't appeal to me as much as the first half. I guess because it dealt more with ordinary day-to-day themes and less of the emotional/spiritual themes, and so my interest just started trailing off ever so slightly. However overall I appreciate the maturity of this series, the realistic portrayal of the struggles of adult life, as well as the lack of any typical anime cliches or tropes.

This will be one of my most favourite Anime because of its unique premise. I was amazed by the story, characters and the Animation, which was my most favourite aspect (Especially in the Tingarla arc).
The way they have made a concept like an aquarium into such a grand spectacle is simply amazing. This will remain in my mind for a very long time.
Shout-out to Muse Asia YouTube channel for bringing such unique and relaxing shows.
