I usually check IMDb to ensure a movie has at least a 6.5 rating before watching, but recently I've given more 5-rated films a chance, and I'm glad I did with this one. In my opinion, it deserves a higher rating. I decided to watch it based on recent reviews praising it, and I wasn't disappointed.
Yes, the cinematography feels more low-budget, but the plot and acting were unexpectedly strong. Unlike many higher-rated films where I find myself saying, "That would never happen" or "That doesn't make sense," this movie captured situations in a way that felt real. It reminds you that these things do happen.
While the subject matter made it a tough watch at times, I thought it was a well-executed film. If you're debating whether to give it a shot, I'd recommend it-it just might surprise you.

In Philadelphia, the lesbian English tutor Callie Holloway (Aimee Theresa) is kidnapped while jogging, locked in the basement of a house and forced to have intercourses with the abductor. A couple of months later, the psychologist Danay Edwards (Sophia Lucia Parola) is also kidnapped by the same man and forced to the same conditions as Callie. Philadelphia PD Detectives Theresa Dellassandro (Jamie Kerezsi) and Marcus Bridgeman (Dax Richardson) are investigating the cases and trying to find anything in common. When the bartender Marly Collum (Jennifer M. Kay) is also kidnapped by the man while going home, her new boyfriend Keith Bradberry (Patrick Hickman) reports her disappearance to the police and is interviewed by Dellassandro and Bridgeman that believe he may be a suspect. But soon a parking ticket provides a clue to be followed by them. Meanwhile, the women are raped every day by the maniac.
"Last Known Location" (2024) is a surprisingly great thriller not available in Brazil. The screenplay is tense and anguishing, with the three women submitted to humiliating conditions and abuses. The plot point is not expected and shows how insane the brothers were. The conclusion with a happy ending is unusual, but refreshing, in this type of story. My vote is seven.

It does keep you guessing right up until the end, because the end is a complete surprise you didn't see coming. There are some things that bothered me about the movie. The acting was a little forced at times, kind of like a bad TV movie. There wasn't enough depth to the characters, or the villain. And why didn't the three girls fight harder, I saw opportunities early on they could have exploited. Why did he do what he did? The Movie alludes to it but doesn't really say. The Hooks in the concrete basement floor the girls were chained to were obviously there for a long time. Had he been abducting women for a long time? Or was it something to do with the villain's mother?
Later in the movie Callie finds two little green toy soldiers that boys play with hidden in a crack next to her Chain hook in the concrete? Was the villain chained there as a kid, perhaps by his mother because he was "bad"? The upstairs of the house has an old feel to it...the furniture, the decorations. It almost looks like he's living in his mother's house, but you never see the mother. It did leave me with those questions, I felt like it could have been better with a little more back story and depth. But it wasn't all lacking, the plot and the girls kept me intrigued. Wanting to know more and see where it all ended up. And the end is a complete surprise, good one there!
From what I could find out this is a very young Indie film outfit with this being their first Major full length feature movie. Given all that, I'd say it was pretty good. In fact I'd say they would be ones to watch in the near future as they hone their craft and produce better and better movies.
So, yes, it's worth a watch.

A very unusual movie and tricky to review. The script reads like it should fit in the "torture porn" genre -- a strangely popular film theme in 2024 -- but no, it doesn't. On diggimg deeper, we realize that is because the script was written by one of the three female leads. Which is also unusual. It is clearly a low-budget indie, yet it runs for almost two hours, a length usually reserved for Hollywood blockbusters. Unusual. For most of its run-length, it can't seem to decide if it wants to be a police procedural, or a character study of women in jeopardy. Because of this indecision, it ultimately fails at both. Yet the production values are excellent and it does hold the attention. ((Designated "IMDb Top Reviewer." Terrible acting. Terrible story. Terrible dialogue. I really tried to give it a chance but literally nothing happens in the movie. There were so may chances and items with which the girls could have done something but they literally never do. How realistic is that? You get kidnapped and abused but you do absolutely nothing about it. Not once. The police does a terrible job investigating.
Besides the terrible acting, bad dialogue and very unrealistic story the movie is not a thriller, not a horror movie. A wannabe drama but not even a good one at that.
I don't see the point in making reviews but this movie was so bad and the reviews so misleading I felt really ripped off.

Great Movie! Love the ending! Very suspenseful! The actors and actresses did a nice job. I really liked how it got us hooked in the very beginning. The ending had a neat twist. Not what I had expected at all. Very good storyline. I like how they tied all three of the characters together. The male detective was very funny. Will definitely recommend this movie to others. It had a combination of humor and suspense. It was very believable. The opening was very engaging. The music throughout the movie was well thought out. I like the idea of all of the flashbacks....especially when the therapist was a young girl.

The movie starts and builds along from the start with great promise. One after one these women are subjected to the most heinous treatment.
There are then two storylines: How these women plot their escape, and the crime drama aspect wherein we would normally see deft detective work. The execution of both, sadly, are quite shoddy.
Forget for a moment that in a city the size of Philadelphia, there's no obvious reason why these particular 3 missing women out of in all likelihood dozens would capture the attention of a detective. Then, bewilderingly, apparently there are only 2 detectives assigned to the case of these 3 missing women.
Then Marly's boyfriend, after great fanfare, demands the police go looking for Marley - only to drop out of sight for the remainder of the movie.
Then the movie goes to great length to set up a "live overlooked cellphone" laying casually in a garage - only never to re-visit this lead. In fact, inexplicably, and perhaps egregiously, there is NEVER any mention of tracking any of these women's cell phone movements or their "last known location" despite that being the TITLE Of THE MOVIE.
The women stroll around the basement doing laundry and bathing themselves wherein you can clearly see their chains are long enough between their hands to wrap around the guy's neck and strangle him to death - almost certainly if the three of them ganged up on him at once.
The detectives do the least amount of detective work possible despite having a number of months to work with, and after pulling a few strings to frantically get a search warrant of the kidnapper/ killer's house, it APPARENTLY takes SIX HOURS to drive from the courthouse to the guy's house (from the middle of the night to the next morning) despite the fact this is all happening in the same city.
We never learn just why these particular three women were "targeted" - despite the fact that the perpetrators were given a defined backstory and the detective, in the final act, gives us the conventional "full reveal."
The final "twist" inarguably defies guessing because it's so baffling it defies probability.
All in all, the movie kept you engaged and guessing enough to want to watch til the end to see how they might all be connected to each other - but we never got that. So overall, it was only a couple notches above average.

I had zero expectations when I watched this little Indy film. I have a strong appreciation for horror & suspense films, but I hate over the top torture films.
I was so glad this wasn't that. The story follows a few woman that are kidnapped and chained together in a house. There is a lot of suspense and psychological tensions throughout the film. The acting is solid and the production value is strong.
A lot of the film is shot in Philly and I found the story line to be very original. So many films if they aren't fast and furious for most of the film, fall off the radar and people don't give them a chance. This film really needs to be viewed from start to finish to appreciate it.

It's funny listening to what a writer and a director decide to include in the movie they're putting together. There are "lines in the sand," much like whether rated R or PG-13. In this movie, saying okay to filthy language is totally arbitrary and, frankly, absolutely unnecessary. So saying yes to F-bombs left and right in NOT a reality check; it's just obscene and disgusting, stupid even, given these "ladies" are portrayed as such. Their filthy mouths provide a stellar example of how far we've come in our decaying and growing disrespect for our moviegoers.
Okay, so the storyline is decent, the police detectives capable and believable, the creep who orchestrates the capture of these - what shall I call them? - ladies?... No, not ladies. I guess I'll go with women, is an effective creep who could rise to the level of total sicko.
So yes, it's an interesting film, intriguing enough to hold your attention and to grow closer to these women as we learn More about each one's personal lives, assuming you can put up with a creep with obvious mental and psychological issues that convince him he's on the verge of a major breakthrough requiring 3 individual women subjected to the sicko's sick plans.
All you'll need to do is watch long enough to figure out his ambitious plans.

The acting was so dang bad ! What is happening with movies these days
I give it a negative 10 Bad acting and so dang cheesy I believe with better actors and better producing. Maybe it could have had a decent storyline and been a good movie.!!!!
It also seemed like a copycat of the Cleveland abductions with a bit of changes but with terrible acting Sooo bad. Lazy acting , lazing producing . No one knows how to truly act these days . !!!!! They just keep putting all these cheesy movies on all the platforms .
What is going on.???. Not everyone can act or be on TV . Terrible terrible movie. ..,,,,

Who wrote this? Who directed this? The plot was stupid, the acting poor. I mean, this was not even a class B movie! Don't waste your time. Holy Hell! This movie is so bad!!!! Nothing in I makes sense. They literally stop trying save themselves to have a therapy session! Not once, but twice! They wash their own clothes, but can attack the guy with their chains? Come on! This is like watching Big Sky in movie format! Amazon should be ashamed of themselves for even showing this "movie".
All three ladies, plus the two detectives had to be new to acting. I don't know how this got past anyone at Amazon. Run! Run and don't press play!

This movie had potential, but it was way too long and a little too dumb. The girls had many opportunities to change their situation but never took the opportunity to do so. We we're talking to the screen and just begging them to get with it, come on and do something about their situation. I don't get it. The movie had potential and had an interesting twist at the end. It talk took way too long to get there. And when it finally did it wrapped things up Way too quickly, there was no great suspense. In addition the dialogue was horrible, it was so stiff and unnatural. It was interesting to see the scenes in philadelphia but it failed to live up to its potential.

I was hesitant to watch this at first b/c of all the bad reviews, which after watching I really don't understand. People must only review if they don't like something because I actually thought the movie was really good. I'm usually not a thriller person but after watching the trailer it didn't look too scary, and it wasn't too scary. I really liked the story lines of all the women and there was the perfect amount of jump scares without being overly gory. I loved the ending most of all and I didn't expect it which is rare with the current hollywood movies, they all seem to be the same. You can tell it's independent but I think that is the charm. I couldn't imagine the work that must go into this.

This seems like everybody's first time doing everything. Some did a great job.
The cinematography and lighting were great, which is very valuable at a time when more and more productions are being shot in the pitchiest of blackiest conditions.
The actual plot was good. Might have been better as a short series but I'm partial to short series so I can care more about the characters when it involves multiple leads.
However, the execution was a flop. Sorry. The character of Danay was the only actor to be seen in this film. Everyone else is fresh outta "extras school".
The storyline was disjointed. The climax was satisfying but irritating at the same time cause the whole time I'm like, what was the point of the police even? They didn't even use cell data to DO what the movie is entitled.... and if they did, the director didn't make it a big enough deal.
I'm convinced the the 8, 9, and 10 ratings are trolling yall. It's not the worst movie ever made by a long shot but it definitely doesn't deserve higher than a 5. I'm giving it a 4 since I can't even recommend it though.

What a nice, solid, gritty, low-key-thriller. I say "low-key" because the whole story just has this all encompassing ominous sense of dread throughout; it's like the filmmakers are saying "the world is a a nasty, bad stuff happens every day and this is just one of those stories." Nice production values and cinematography. One thing that really stood out for me was how well-developed the three female leads are, they could have easily been stereotypical one dimensional victims. Instead, the film does a impressive job of reminding the audience that these characters could be your sister or your girlfriend and this could happen to them.

I rarely can't finish a movie no matter how bad, but this was one of those times. The opening scene and music score was bothersome and felt fake and forced, right from the get go. It was just plain unbelievable, and it only got worse! I tried to continue, but simply couldn't! Bad writing, bad directing, and bad, very bad acting.
I truly hope this poor attempt at movie making isn't the future of the industry. As someone else said, not everyone can (or should) write, direct or act.
What happened to talented, practiced movie makers creating well-made, original movies? So much junk out there because every millennial from the social media generation, thinks they have talent, when most really don't! Maybe others from that same generation liked this, but I certainly did not.

Last Known Location is a complete and utterly boring movie. The acting is painfully wooden, and the script is an agonizing mess, riddled with clichés and unnatural dialogue. Hallmark movies are more riveting than this tripe. Scene after scene of useless talking, leading absolutely nowhere, left me frustrated and questioning how such projects even get funded. It annoys me that people are paid to make movies like this-it should be illegal. The pacing drags, the plot is predictable, and the cinematography and soundtrack are equally uninspired. Truly, a trainwreck with no redeeming qualities. Two thumbs down.

Anyone who didn't see this "twist" coming really wasn't paying attention. There are very obvious cluses that it is coming. I mean, I had it figured out halfway through the movie and I wasn't even paying complete attention to the movie.
Beyond that, there really is no depth to this movie. There is nothing given to let you know why what is happening is actually happening. The acting is pretty blah.
All the "twists and turns" that other people are talking about in their reviews do not happen in the movie. There is only one "twist" and if you have any sense, you will see it coming a mile away.
I am not one to usually believe it when people talk about fake reviews by the movie makers, but the good reviews are SO misleading I went and looked at the profile of every single good review and only 3 had reviewed or rated anything else.
Don't be mislead. It a below average movie lauded by the people who made it.

This movie is by far better than these very bad reviews you're seeing. It is definitely an independent movie but in the absolute best way possible. The story is unique, the acting is genuine and the characters are captivating. You really get sucked in right away and you feel like you know the people you're watching. The story is told beautifully, I appreciate that they focus on the women and not the bad guy. It's refreshing to have a woman writer for once and it shows. AND THE TWIST! Wow, I really did not see that coming. Seriously it is totally worth the watch! And who doesn't like to support independent artists right?

Let's be real here folks, the extremely high praise that this movie is getting, is clearly from those involved with the film. This wasn't the worst movie I've ever seen, but it's definitely one of the most boring. There is zero tension, zero mystery, no thrills, no sense of dread.
It genuinely felt like a lifetime movie or any made for lame cable channel movie. I'm giving it a 4 instead of something even lower, because the acting wasn't awful, the editing was fine and the concept had potential. Ultimately, and most importantly, this was not an entertaining movie. That all being said, I really hope you all take this review to heart, watch it if you dare, but don't say that I or any of the other negative reviews, didn't warn you. Do not waste your time...

"Last Known Location" is a gem that truly took me by surprise. From the very beginning, the film grips you with its suspense and doesn't let go until the credits roll. The story is masterfully crafted, keeping you on the edge of your seat.
What makes the film stand out is its ability to maintain a high level of tension throughout, making it a thrilling watch. The characters are well-developed. The cinematography and direction are top-notch, adding to the overall experience.

It is a testament to the power of independent filmmaking and a reminder that sometimes the best stories come from the most unexpected places. Highly recommend!

The idea and premise around this movie was good. There was some excellent character development and realistic story writing regarding a very difficult subject matter.
Some parts were a little bit unrealistic when it came to dialog and some of the character relationships which made the movie seem a bit amateur.
I do like how the director did not tip toe around to what is likely to happen when women are held captive in some basement of a sicko.
It would have been nice to give a little more character development around the antagonist or perhaps provide a little more of a backstory to why he became a monster.
All in all this is like a lower quality but better written Lifetime movie.
