So looking at some simple clues, the video footage doesn't make sense. The 'Aztec box' that is the center of the 'mystery' is supposedly over 500 years old. Look carefully at the video. The logs are barely coverd with any sediment, suggesting the logs have been buried for less then one year. Sorry Discovery, please do a better job with your soap opera series.
Eric Drummond - Ian disappointed to see you are a paid actor vs. An actual geologist. You should have stuck with ice cold gold...much more believable.

This show plays off of the fame of Skinwalker Ranch, which is a superb show, by the way, but this show comes in from a very different tack. It's way less scientific and ecologically considerate, with some different mysteries connected to the location, as well as some similar phenomena, and the excitement of poachers, thieves and spies. I find it to be a satisfying continuation of a show I cannot get enough of (Skinwalker), but a zanier version. I call it the "Hillbilly Version of Skinwalker" when I describe it to others I'm recommending it to. The accredited professionals they have aiding their search on this show are real and serious about what they do. I believe there is credence in this show, the history, and their quest; it's just different. If you don't like it, so be it, spare us your rantings.
I have been in mining for years and that was the cleanest mine I have ever seen. The floor was perfectly flat. Never in an underground mine will that occur. No rocks piled along the rib or sides of the mine. After 50, 60 100 years a mine will sluff off material which piles up along the ribs. The back or top of the mine will drop material too. It all lays on the floor. Finally, when you use explosives to break rocks, they are jagged and rough. If you use a pick ax you strike from top to bottom. I saw something that looked like claw marks going to the side. Finally, in a mine that was first newly opened you blow a lot of air into that mine. Air it out. You never enter a mine that probably has black damp or poison air.
Look up pictures of old mine drifts. All fake.

I've only seen one episode so maybe I'm missing something. They show a box of logs underwater tied together with rope and want to know if it has been there for 45 years or 400 years. So what kind of rope will last for even a year underwater, much less 45 years or longer? The guy took a sample of the wood for testing. I'd like to see a test done on the miracle rope.
I liked the first 2 episodes. Yes, they were kind of hokey and lame. But, they were enjoyable. Then it all went towards the staged stuff and paranormal stuff. I won't give away any spoilers. But the last few episodes have been more X-Files sort of stuff than treasure hunting. Were into season 2 now. Just finished the 2nd episode and we've got about 20 minutes of actual 'searching for treasure' and the rest is conspiracy theory mumbo jumbo. There was a suicide outside of their gate. Nothing to do with the show. But they're spending about 1/4th of the show investigating it. And they found some wooden timbers in an underground cave last season. This season they're making a borehole to drag them out. Why waste all that $$ on old logs? Why aren't they 'treasure searching' instead. I keep watching hoping they'll actually find something. But I'm not hopeful.
