Another great night on the Piazza: First William Friedkin received the "Leopard of Honor", held a speech about how he was influenced by European filmmakers of the 60s and the national-nervous-breakdown America was going through at the same time. After that he presented his 1985 classic "To Live And Die In L.A." – 80s hurray! It’s too bad that more than half of the audience left afterwards and missed the world premiere of Takeshi Koike’s "Redline", which might just be one of the craziest films ever to be screened in Locarno!
If you don’t like animation, over the top action and luscious colors, don’t go near his film. It is pure adrenaline from minute 1 to 100. Whenever I thought it couldn’t get any louder or faster, it proofed me wrong. This...
