If you SKIP this you'll MISS NOTHING.

In my opinion this story is not appropriate for a full length feature film but for a 20 mins short film. The story is also not new, we all have watched and heard so many stories like this before.

A murder, some love stories, cheating, then revenge and that's all.

Because every character was very simple, there were not many scopes to show actor's acting skill. And that's why all the actors were just okay.

I can't say this is a bad film but of course NOT a very good film. So, If you skip this you'll miss nothing.

Great concept !! Flawed execution!!

#sanjuzzreviews

Based on a play Ballygunge 1990, the story of this whodunit unfolds in a single night with the murder of a bollywood actress, Dipanita Sharma on her engagement night. Her writer fiancee Anup Soni is the primary suspect as he absconds from the crime scene. Fate lands him at the doorstep of his ex-flame, Paoli Dam who gives him shelter for the night. Rahul Dev plays the part of a police officer on the roles of a high ranking politician asked to take charge of the case to save someone.

A great concept for a classic whodunit, great cast too.

Alas, the film falters in the execution department. A very linear narrative might work in a play, however it fails to create an impact here. It starts off with great promise but becomes very predictable in the end.

The are no adrenaline rush moment's as the film slowly moves towards a climax that makes you feel that something could've been better.

Rahul Dev , Anup Soni and Paoli Dam give sincere performances, but cannot translate a good play into a great film, thus making it a rather average watch.. Adios🙂

Everyone guilty will be punished

Adapted from a popular play called "Ballygunge 1990" directed by Atul Satya Koushik, Raat Baaki Hai is the tale of one fateful night in the lives of Vasuki (Paoli Dam) and Kartik (Anup Soni), two estranged lovers who happen to meet by chance after a gap of 12 years. Kartik and Vani (Dipannita Sharma), a top actress get engaged the same night at a plush hotel in Rajasthan and the former is too heavily drunk to carry himself through the night. Unfortunately, the bride to be is soon found murdered with the throat slit apart in her suite. Inspector Rajesh Ahlawat (Rahul Dev) begins his investigation and gradually gets to work out the progress of the crime, only until a point where the CCTV camera footage goes missing.

In the interim, Kartik is on the run realising the gravitas of the situation and lands up in Vasuki's mansion, as if by chance. She claims that she is happily married to Raja Sujan Singh, the owner of the mansion and the hotel for the past 12 years since separating from Kartik. She makes Kartik comfortable and asks him to wait for the Raja to return to rid him of his immediate problem. As the night proceeds, matters get a little complicated as beans are spilled and Kartik is in for some strange surprise.

Raat Baaki Hai is languid, low key and short (89 minutes). It could have been taut and slick, but fails in execution as the ending is somewhat underwhelming although unpredictable. Paoli Dam is effective, but doesn't find too much support from the others. The settings are plush and rich and the proceedings are palpable.

Raat ko baaki hi rehene do

After last year release of raat akeli hai it's now raat baaki hai

Very general murder mystery which you can easily predict after some time I don't know why now a days people are making murder mysteries

Very normal direction and normal acting paoli played a ok role in support with Rahul but again nothing thrilling or new to deliver

So raat ko baaki hi rehene do don't see and complete it.

Well presented low budget cliche storyline

After a year of lockdown when you are into paucity of good movies, Raat Baaki Hai keeps you wake until the movie is finished. The story is nothing new - a cliche whodunit with an age-old motive. Despite the lack of originality, the script keeps you occupied till the end with its twists & turns. The movie unfolds at a steady pace and takes off any built-up suspense when you have reached 80% of it. Despite its age-old framework, it is a relief from the recent Bollywood flicks. Paoli Dam's acting was reserved as expected of her.

You can watch it.

Skip it to save your Raat!

Plain bad performances - by otherwise reliable actors - are further ruined by terrible screenplay and nonexistent plot. There's no suspense or thrill as everything is "said" instead of being "shown".

Three stars because I loved the allover premise, but that's not enough to waste your night (Raat).

Predictable

Just from the synopsis of the movie, its easy to identify who the killer is.

Anup Soni and Paoli Dam are good.

Not able to keep audience glued to the screen

Very predictable story line with not so much uniqueness to the plot. This isn't a bad film. Probably bit better than some of the craps out there on OTT.

For the first half hour, it was tedious to sit as the movie was too slow. Some pace to the movie could have brought a difference. Characters seems half baked and even in an predictable script, the right execution could have made the difference. Dialogues were good.

Basically, this isn't a very bad movie. Intent was there to make it a good film but somehow the execution failed.

Rahul dev was my pick from the movie, but his character lacks depth. Anup Soni was okay. Rest of the cast was average. None of them able to leave strong impression.

You can watch in fast forward also.

Although the series has good cast but still the series failed to entertain audience. Wrost ending. You can easily predict who would be the killer and what's his/her moto is. Do not waste your time to watch this if you still wants to watch this then watch it in fast forward way.

A slow burn suspense thriller

A slow burn suspense thriller. The plot turns on an implausible level of coincidence. Great performances and stunning visuals.

Paoli Dam steals the show. One woman show.

Predictable, slow, average

Barring Rahul Dev and the other cops, all performances are below par. Even from seasoned actors like Anup Soni.

Can be a 1-time watch if you have nothing else to do.

Failed Execution

Review By Kamal K

Zee5 brings yet another murder mystery where a leading bollywood actress is found dead on her engagement night. Police officer incharge need to solve this case within a night as he doesn't want the matter to get escalated.

Overall, this story seems good and sounds interesting on paper but when it translated on celluloid it goes astray. The movie does opens up in a promising note and the suspense is well maintained where you start your guessing game on. Sooner it fizzles down as you can guess the killer from miles apart. After which you could just wait to prove yourself right.

Rahul Dev is impressive as the no-nonsense cop Ahlawat whose character has shades of grey from the beginning, and yet, he leaves no stone upturned to find the truth. Annup Soni convincingly depicted the anxiousness his character goes through. Paoli Dam is looking elegantand she makes her presence felt as Vasuki. Instead of just focusing on her appearance and that perfectly draped saree, the film would have worked remarkably better had it delved deeper into Dam's character.

The climax has some unpredictable bends in the road which are interesting to watch. Overall, this 89 minutes suspense-thriller is quite unexciting and a dull watch.

Dynamic Start doesn't composed to End though

At the beginning of the story, a gripping screenplay keeps you glued to your tv screen. The phenomenal stage by Rahul Dev is highly commended. As one develop through the thoughts and assumptions, their expectations don't mean to prevail. What lost track of the trail is the second half of the movie. That momentous climax takes off at no spot. While the ensemble cast including Anup Soni did absolute justice to their character. Enjoy your watch.

Predictable!

A decent weekend watch! However, the film doesn't keep you on the edge of your seat. Most of the casts have done a good job but none gives a memorable performance. Storyline is ordinary (but not bad) and that's the weakness of the movie. Do watch!

Watch it only for Paoli Dam

Anwar Says : A movie with a bengali tone has to bomb , if it is shoot at Rajasthan outdoor and with a cop who speaks Hariyanavi Hindi . Based on Atul Satya Kaushik's Ballygunge 1990, helmed by Avinash Das , can only be watched for suave performance by Paoli Dam .

She would force to recall your memory-Nanda of Bollywood as well as Suchitra Sen of Tollywood. One night whodunit , investigated by Rahul Dev , the cop, who speaks hardly hariyanvi , the prime suspect Anup Soni, would not able to stick you to seat for long .

Expected ending , murder looks artificial and you are hardly engaged. Zee5 should be more realistic if they want to compete with Netflix and Amazon Prime. One character I liked in the whole of the movie is Saanand Verma ( who gives Anup Soni lift ) , so hilarious in two minutes scene .

Even the Paoli character has too many tragic resonance than the movie itself. You shouldn't watch run on the mill thriller, better take a nap .

I watched it because I had to warn you. Avoid this, watch if you want to differ with me .

What even was this?!

Seriously, what was this film? A bad attempt at stretching a 15-20 minute short film into a feature film, putting so many useless characters into its plot, which lead nowhere! When the plot gives so many characters, it also gives that many chances of complicating the murder mystery for the audience so the climax revelation would shock them - this movie did not even attempt to do that. A total waste of characters.

It was not even near the end, when the movie just served the suspense on a platter. By the time this murder mystery "feature film" should have begun trying to complicate its "mystery," it was ready to show all of its cards, leaving audience in utter disappointment.

There is also a scene of Rahul Dev (MINOR SPOILER) seeing Paoli Dam in a cctv footage, which leads absolutely nowhere.

Useless characters, a useless flashback scene of Anuup Sonii and Paoli Dam (giving their characters so much potential to contribute to the mystery and not utilising it, is a creative crime), and an utterly useless climax shot - this film has disappointment written all over it.

The only reason for giving 3 stars and not 1, is because the actors gave good performances, and the editing was good.
