Producer Caroline Spence was inspired by Rihanna's make-up in the Eminem music video The Monster, and she asked the make-up team to recreate the look for the Esther Teal character.
The character name of Nora Cage played by Gareth Tidball was chosen by crowdfunding supporter Hebert Irwin. It is a fusion of actors Nora Zehetner and Nicolas Cage.

The name of the Hollywood studio Arthur Capstone works for is Scotsfell Studios. Producer/Screenwriter Caroline Spence came up with this name whilst talking to director James Smith about what to call the studio. At the very moment they were discussing this, Caroline looked out of the window to see a Scotts pine tree come crashing down in the park opposite. And so was born Scotsfell Studios.
