I saw this little film at The Big Apple FF in NY. I was kinda surprised how emotionally devastating this film was. Marvin Van Buren gave a contemplative Q & A after the screening. The Performances from the two leads felt so real and lived in. Tyler is a powerful story of a man coming to terms with his surroundings. Marvin Van Buren does an amazing job of capturing this downward spiral. Someone on letterboxed said the film is "A pledge for the current class and working generation post-Covid", I agree. A must see. See this film when it hits platforms. Will be interesting seeing how people respond.

I saw 'Tyler' at the Big Apple Film Festival. I had zero expectations, but the once the film starts it grabs you. Not the best execution of certain set pieces, but again, Tyler has such an emotional hook. There are moments of stillness and frankly a slow pace, but it has a great payoff in the last act. The last 20 minutes is an huge gut punch. Van Buren and Skirianos gave a q and a after the screening and remarked about being inspired by Kelly Riechardt. You can see the influence heavily. Marvin Van Buren is an interesting filmmaker and I'm looking forward to seeing what he does next. Monk Serrell Freed is amazing as the lead! See it!

I saw at Marina Del Rey FF!.Tyler is a powerful story of a man coming to terms with his surroundings. Marvin Van Buren does an amazing job of capturing this downward spiral. Hard to believe the low budget this film had, it is slick with great writing and cool locations. It's a moody crime coming of age story and the lead does a great job. Dialogue felt so real and the last 20 mins is unreal. Would recommend. A pledge for the current class and working generation post-Covid.
