very stupidly contrived

From the onset we knew how this film was headed, mostly due to the back slapping good ole boy darren mcgavin's smug style of acting ... its also telegraphed and even a dumb hick sheriff played by glenn ford should have figured it out seconds after seeing his ole buddy from the korean war...kudos to loretta "hot lips" swit.

Errores
Sam, J.J. and Pete are discussing the ballistics comparison of the bullets that killed Bob Maxwell, the grand jury witness, and the one that killed deputy Larry Greer. Pete states, matter-of-factly, that the military never used hollow point bullets so as to comply to the Geneva Convention. Then he contradictorily states that it is his belief that the ammunition was stolen from a military depot.
