The only reason why I gave It a 7 is because It has potential. I liked the beginning. When I first sow It at first I though that It's going to be a good series. The main problem with It is the writers. In stead of just making a good series the writers felt the urge to give the character some really weird personalities. either the are too dumb, too emotional, angry or the are just freaks. It's like the writers literally said ,,hey the story is too simple, so we should create our own awful one''. It really is sad to think If they just made a series about normal teenagers, instead of emotionally troubled ones, It would have been a pretty decent series. Hope It improves soon. Also why did they cast actors which, the ones playing the parents look 30 years, and the ones playing their kids look 20 years old?
I have a deep love for this show. I remember it aired at the same time as Gossip Girl, which was huge in comparison. Granted, it was a better show, but something about 90210 made me love it more.
The positives are: it's witty, the actors are good and there's tons of drama, even though it gets very teeny and overdramatic a lot of the times. On the flip side, it's often very intruiging with some juicy and dark storylines, scandals and plot twists. The negatives are that so many of the problems the characters have are often based soly on really stupid misunderstandings, and some storylines are beyond ridiculous you end up skipping them. Some storylines don't even have a conclusion, and it's pretty annoying.
To me, Annalynne McCord is the absolute star of the show, and she's honestly too good for it. Her character, Naomi Clark makes the whole show worth watching for me, she's incredible. I also really like Shenae Grimes aka Annie. They both have the most character development and are the most interesting characters with a great chemistry and very entertaining feuds that comes and goes.
The show has a rocky first season, still with some great moments, but season 2-3 is when the show really found its footing and shined. Then it kind of goes off the rails again with really stupid storylines, but my favorite characters are still worth watching.
It is what it is, it's teeny and ridiculous and soapy, but they really lean into it in a way that it doesn't take itself too seriously, so you can just have fun with it.

This isn't a review...
Just wanted to say that I have not had the (dis)pleasure of seeing this re-make of 90210 (other than snippets), but maybe all the bad ratings are because Aaron Spelling, responsible for the original 90210, as well as Melrose Place, is no longer with us so he has no input on the show. I don't know, but just a thought. A shame it's so bad... Oh well, we have the original DVDs at least! It's nice to see a few of the original characters back though. I really couldn't care less about teens these days. But I think the makers of the show should go to a real highschool and actually look at what the kids are dealing with, instead of stereotyping so much.

this show is so boring... the first one was so much better. shanae grimes is so obnoxious, she tries to act so innocent, and she acts like she is so cute, that everyone likes her. it's just kind of fake and hard to relate too, especially their entire family. lori laughlin has been so much better, in this show, they just rub me the wrong way or something, like they are trying too hard with it and pushing the family to make it like the old one.
jessica stroup and anna lynne mccord play much more interesting characters. or at least they act a little bit better than shanae grimes.... but even the story line is the same as everything else. pregnant high schooler, been there, done that, it's already on another station. and they've done the coke thing a million times before too.
and then there is the whole from kansas thing. didn't they try that before with lori laughlin, and she moved to cali, and it didn't work? i guess it is boring, and just hard to relate to at all. on to the next.
but then again it's the cw, so what do we all expect?

This is good if you just want an escape from brutal, painful reality.
The sun is always shining in Beverly Hills. No one has a single hair is out of place. Everybody is slim and beautiful. All the girls have a full face of make up and a new outfit in every scene. Money is never an issue. Everybody is paired up and in a stable relationship, everybody is so independent and confident even though they're only 16. Everybody drives a big car. Everybody's got a big house. No one seems to lift a finger and life seems to be all about partying, getting manicures, gossiping, eating at restaurants and pretending to work. People go to school in a vest and flip flops because it's so hot, it's as though they're on a permanent holiday. The girls are eating burger, fries and dr pepper as their school lunch everyday but none of them is spotty, fat or tired looking. People go through such big issues like drugs, pregnancies, sex with multiple guys, bipolar disorder and yet it never seems to show on their appearance.
Deep down I'm sure that even real people in Beverly Hills do not live like this because money can only go so far to having a perfect life. If like me you live in rainy, miserable Britain where homes are small and shabby looking and roads are so narrow and the people are obese and angry and the weather is always grey then this is lovely to watch sometimes just to get away from the misery and cold, dark days.
But if you're the jealous type then I wouldn't recommend watching this.

¿Sabías que…?
- TriviaHilary Duff was first offered the part of Annie Wilson but declined the role. Shenae Grimes-Beech was then cast.
- ErroresThroughout out the series, it's clear that the actors/actresses portraying teenagers are actually in their 20s+. This is done as to not interfere with the schooling of real teenagers and to give the general viewing audience who are teenagers themselves someone they can look up to.
