A deadly journey of vengeance, RAMBO: LAST BLOOD marks the last chapter of the legendary series.
  • After the blood-soaked ballet of bullets in Rambo 4: Regreso al Infierno (2008), the last survivor of an elite unit of Green Berets, John Rambo, finds himself unable to keep the terrors of this world at bay, still trying to keep the lid on his simmering emotions. Secluded in his deceased father's horse ranch in Arizona, John--along with his teen niece, Gabrielle, and her grandmother, Maria--leads a serene life, until an urgent invitation drags the gullible seventeen-year-old girl to the squalid slums of Mexico, in search of a ghost. Now, even though he tried so hard to renounce his former violent self, once more, John is on the warpath, many painful decades after the bitter guerrilla warfare in Rambo (1982). Nearly all his life, John has been fighting a seemingly interminable war, seeking a place he could call home. But, what's the good of pursuing a beautiful dream when everyone you love has gone?—Nick Riganas

Sinopsis

  • Eleven years after the events in Burma, Vietnam War veteran John Rambo (Sylvester Stallone) lives in Bowie, Arizona in his deceased father's horse ranch, which he manages with his old friend, Maria Beltran (Adriana Barraza), and her granddaughter, Gabriela (Yvette Monreal). Rambo now breeds and trains horses and leads a peaceful life. Rambo cares about Gabriela. Rambo believes that Gabriela would make a good horse trainer, bit Maria says that Gabriela will go to college. She does not want Gabriela to smell like horses.

Rambo maintains an underground network of tunnels under the ranch and still has nightmares about his time in Vietnam. Rambo undertakes regular inspection of the tunnel network ensuring that they are structurally sound and solid.

Rambo has a workshop in the tunnels where he forges his own blades. Gabriela is looking forward to attend college. Rambo makes her a letter opener made from Damascus Steel as a gift. Rambo does not allow anyone to come into his tunnels but allows Gabriela to invite her friends for a party.

Gabriela reveals to Rambo that a friend of hers named Gizelle (Fenessa Pineda), has found Gabriela's biological father, Miguel (Rick Zingale), in Mexico. Gabriela sought permission to go to Mexico to meet her biological father. Rambo had argued that men like her father don't change and only get worse over time. He asks her to wait for answers.

Even Maria says that Gizelle is a bad girl, but Gabriela won't listen. But Gabriela is clear that she wants to meet her father, and she wants to do it now. Maria says that Miguel never acted like Gabriela's father nor cared for her, and Rambo is more of a father to her watching over her and protecting her. Miguel never once went to the hospital when Gabriela's mother was dying of cancer. He used to beat his wife with a belt.

Gabriela says that people do not act bad for no reason, but Rambo says that the world today is a lot worse than in his time. Rambo says that he knows how black a man's heart can be. He assures Gabriela that there is nothing good out there for her. Gabriela says that Rambo did what he thought was right when he joined the army at the age of 17, but Rambo says that he wishes that somebody did stop him. Rambo says that he cares for Gabriela like his daughter and would not allow anyone to hurt her. Gabriela says that men can change, as Rambo changed.

Against Rambo and Maria's wishes, Gabriela secretly drives to Mexico to ask why Miguel had abandoned Gabriela and her mother years ago. Gabriela meets Gizelle at her apartment. Gizelle leads Gabriela to Miguel's apartment, where he reveals to her that he never really cared for Gabriela or her mother. He says one day he realized that his wife and his daughter meant nothing to him and that he was wasting time with them. Then his wife died and left him with Gabriela, whom he never wanted. Gabriela is in tears as Manuel tells her never to come back.

Gabriela comes out and wants to drive back to the US, realizing that Rambo was right all along. Gizelle would not allow Gabriela to drive in her current emotional state. Gizelle was eyeing a bracelet on Gabriela's wrist. Gizelle takes a heartbroken Gabriela to a local club, where Gabriela is drugged and kidnapped by enforcers of a Mexican cartel. Gabriela is taken to a dark building, without windows where other abducted girls are also kept. The cartel is brutal if any girl tries to run away and make an example out of her in front of all the other girls. Gabriela is trapped and terrified and has no way out.

Meanwhile, Maria informs Rambo of Gabriela's disappearance in Mexico. She says that Gizelle called and informed her that Gabriela went to see her father and never returned. Rambo doesn't call the cops as cops cannot cross the border. Rambo travels to Mexico and interrogates both Miguel and Gizelle about Gabriela's whereabouts. Rambo knows that Gizelle sold Gabriela out, when he sees Gabriela's mother bracelet in Gizelle's wrist.

Rambo is reluctantly led by Gizelle to the club where Gabriela was last seen and confronts El Flaco (Pascacio Lopez), the man who last spoke with Gabriela. A mysterious woman, Carmen Delgado (Paz Vega), tails Rambo as El Flaco leads him to Gabriela's location. Rambo is immediately confronted, beaten and marked by the cartel, led by brothers Hugo (Sergio Peris-Mencheta) and Victor Martinez (Óscar Jaenada). They take his driver's license, revealing the ranch's location, and a photo of Gabriela, whom Victor recognizes. The cartel vow to mistreat Gabriela further due to Rambo's actions. They put a deep gash on Rambo's face and leave him to die. Victor and Hugo start giving heavy drugs to Gabriela as punishment for Rambo's involvement.

Carmen takes Rambo back to her home where she cares for him until he fully recovers. Carmen reveals herself to be an independent journalist who has been investigating the Martinez brothers, the kidnappers and murderers of her sister. Rambo later raids one of the brothels, killing several men until he finds a drugged Gabriela.

On the way back home, Rambo thanks Gabriela for giving him hope for ten years before she dies from the forced overdose. Enraged, Rambo sends Maria away and rigs the ranch with traps for a confrontation and later returns to Mexico to ask Carmen's help in finding Victor. Carmen initially refuses, believing that it will solve nothing, but is convinced after Rambo appeals to her grief and frustrations.

Rambo raids Victor's home, killing several guards and decapitating Victor. In retaliation, Hugo leads a group of hit-men to Rambo's ranch, where each falls victim to the rigged traps. Saving Hugo for the last, Rambo mutilates him and rips his heart out.

In the aftermath, a weakened Rambo sits on the porch of his father's house, vowing to continue fighting and to keep the memories of his loved ones alive. Rambo saddles up his horse and rides off into the sunset.
