Dracula's Guest

Preguntas Frecuentes

When Elizabeth Murray (Kelsey McCann) is prevented by her father, Admiral William Murray (Dan Speaker), from marrying young real estate agent Bram Stoker (Wes Ramsey), Elizabeth decides to escape from her father's overbearing ways by catching a train out of London. Along the way, she meets Count Dracula (Andrew Bryniarski), a Transylvanian vampire currently in London looking for suitable residential property. Recognizing Elizabeth as the daughter of his old nemesis, Dracula kidnaps Elizabeth, takes her to his castle in Transylvania, and waits for Bram and the Admiral to show up.

Dracula's Guest is very loosely based on the 1914 short story "Dracula's Guest", by Irish author Bram Stoker [1847-1912], published posthumously by Stoker's widow Florence. It is generally considered (but not beyond a doubt) that "Dracula's Guest" was meant to be the first chapter in Stoker's classic novel Dracula (1897), although some critics believe it was actually written by Florence Stoker. The screenplay for Dracula's Guest was written and directed by American movie-maker Michael Feifer.

Yes. Dracula's Guest is in the public domain and may be read and/or downloaded from various websites such as Project Gutenberg.

Walpurgis Night refers to the night of 30 April, the eve of the feast day (also known as May Day or Beltane) of Saint Walpurga (c.710 - 777/'79). In various mythologies (especially Germany where it is known as Walpurgisnacht), April 30th is reputed to be the meeting time of witches and sorcerers to celebrate the arrival of spring.

Bram climbs his way up to the castle to rescue Elizabeth. Meanwhile, the Admiral has reached the cave where Elizabeth is being held. He reveals to her that she and he have an immortal bloodline. She tells him that Dracula has raped and impregnated her with his seed. Things come to a head when Dracula and Bram meet in the mausoleum. They fight, but Dracula wins and leaves to attend to Elizabeth. The Admiral shows up and orders Bram to save Elizabeth while he attends to Dracula. Doing as he is told, Bram makes his way down to the cave where Elizabeth is being held behind bars but, before he find a way to release her, Dracula confronts him. Out of nowhere, the Admiral shows up behind Dracula, and the two of them engage in a lengthy sword fight, at the end of which the Admiral slits Dracula's throat and pierces him in the heart with a sword. The Admiral then assures Bram and Elizabeth that they will return to London immediately so that they can be married. In the final scene, as evening falls over London, Dracula is heard laughing maniacally.

Very remotely. Other than the title, the only part of the movie that resembles the short story is the scene in the cemetery where Stoker encounters the vampiress(es) and a wolf. Other than that, the storyline seems more akin to Francis Ford Coppola's Drácula (1992) (1992) with additional material added by the writer/director.
