As Bella Ramsey returns for Season 2 of The Last of Us, they’re opening up about their autism diagnosis for the first time.

The Golden Globe nominee, whose HBO show returns on April 13, recently revealed that they discovered their “freeing” diagnosis while filming Season 1 of The Last of Us after a crew member with a neurodivergent child noticed some familiar behaviors.

“I’ve spoken a bit about neurodivergence before, but I always for some reason didn’t want to… I felt like I didn’t want to say what it was… Shoot,” they told British Vogue. “I got diagnosed with autism when I was filming Season 1 of The Last of Us.”

The crew member’s intervention led to Ramsey getting a formal diagnosis following a psychiatric assessment.

During their Consumer Electronics Show (CES) presentation last night, Naughty Dog head Neil Druckmann officially announced that The Last of Us season two will debut this coming April, exclusively on HBO and streaming on Max.

The second season will consist of seven episodes, and while we don't have an exact premiere date just yet, we'd imagine the series returns sometime in mid-April, in the same release window Game of Thrones used to occupy during its run.

Season two will pick up five years after the events of season one, which concluded with Joel (Pedro Pascal) going on a rampage to rescue an unconcious Ellie (Belly Ramsey) from the Fireflies and then, in an effort to protect her, covering up the truth by telling her that making a cure was impossible and that raiders had raided the facility and forced them to flee.

Sophie Okonedo will receive the Richard Harris Award at the 2024 British Independent Film Awards (BIFAs), organizers unveiled Monday.

The Richard Harris Award recognizes the outstanding contribution of an actor to British film. Previous recipients of the honor include the likes of Samantha Morton, Riz Ahmed, Kristin Scott Thomas, Judi Dench, Vanessa Redgrave, Daniel Day-Lewis, Helena Bonham Carter, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Julie Walters, John Hurt, Emma Thompson, Jim Broadbent and, last year, Stephen Graham.

“Sophie’s celebrated career has seen her embrace both U.K. independent and Hollywood film and has taken her from the National Theatre to Broadway and back, with a significant body of acclaimed television roles in between,” the BIFAs organizers said in a statement. “Sophie’s work has been recognized by, amongst others, BIFA, BAFTA, the Academy, Tony, Olivier, Screen Actors Guild and Emmy Awards.”

The actor will receive the award at the Bifas ceremony held this Sunday, December 8, at the Roundhouse in London.

Okonedo is best known for her Oscar-nominated performance in 2004’s Hotel Rwanda while her other film credits include The Secret Lie Of Bees, Christopher Robin, Wild Rose, Death On The Nile and Catherine Called Birdy.

Lena Dunham is set to bring the rise and fall of Ftx founder Sam Bankman-Fried to the screen for an upcoming Apple Original film in partnership with A24. Dunham will adapt the screenplay from Michael Lewis’ New York Times bestselling book, “Going Infinite: The Rise and Fall of a New Tycoon.”

Lewis’ past books “Moneyball” and “The Big Short” were also previously adapted to the screen. Lena Dunham is working on the script for a feature about Ftx founder Sam Bankman-Fried.

The Girls creator is on board to write a film adapting author Michael Lewis’ best-selling 2023 book Going Infinite: The Rise and Fall of a New Tycoon. Apple Studios and A24 are producing and developing the movie that is in early development.

Bankman-Fried founded Ftx in 2019, and the cryptocurrency exchange enjoyed a rise to prominence that included the company’s commercial running during the 2022 Super Bowl. Ftx boasted endorsements from such celebrities as Tom Brady, Stephen Curry and Larry David.

In March, the disgraced crypto entrepreneur was sentenced to 25 years in prison and forced to forfeit over $11 billion following his conviction on charges of fraud, conspiracy and money laundering. Bankman-Fried is appealing the conviction and sentence.

Apple and A24 are in early development on a film adaptation of the Michael Lewis book “Going Infinite: The Rise and Fall of a New Tycoon” with Lena Dunham attached to write the script, Variety has learned exclusively.

Apple Studios and A24 are co-developing and co-producing the film. “Going Infinite” delves into the spectacular ascension and equally spectacular implosion of the cryptocurrency exchange and hedge fund Ftx as well as its founder, Sam Bankman-Fried. The book was originally released in October 2023 and went on to become a New York Times bestseller.

Police detectives investigating Russell Brand regarding historic allegations of sex crimes have asked prosecutors to consider bringing criminal charges against the media personality, according to BBC.

The decision by law enforcement stems from a September 2023 investigative report by The Sunday Times, The Times and Channel 4 Dispatches, which includes testimony from four women who accused the Forgetting Sarah Marshall actor of sexual assault, rape and emotional abuse across a seven-year period at the height of his fame in 2006-2013. One of the women, none of whom know each other and the majority of whom spoke on the condition of anonymity, was 16 at the time of the offense. At least this bizarre, still-very-much-in-progress century has already produced a slew of spectacular, silly, snarky, and cynical comedies: ready to fire up whenever you need a serotonin burst or distraction thanks to the ever-growing cadre of streaming services.

The pandemic may be in the rearview for the U.S. federal government, but the specter of war, a tortured economy, and human rights issues across the globe have occupied the minds of many instead. So, in desperate need of some humor, we thought it was more important than ever to give our Greatest Comedies of the 21st Century list, originally published in 2017, yet another rethink. Since the list was originally published, we’ve expanded it to 90 entries, including titles released since then that deserved including and other titles we somehow overlooked the first time.

Ever since Phoebe Waller-River’s Fleabag became a sensation, there have been tons of female-oriented stories being experimented with, with women as the leads giving commentary about their lives to the camera. The breaking of the fourth wall has become the norm in basically every show or movie of this genre. The only good thing about such content is that female-driven stories are on the rise. Catherine Called Birdy and The Good House are examples of stories being told from a female perspective. Queenie, however, is something similar that is based on a young girl in her twenties navigating through trauma and life. Based on the novel of the same name, the miniseries was created for Channel 4 and Hulu by the author Candice Carty-Williams.

Queenie Jenkins is a young social media assistant with a local news website who was in a relationship with Tom, who had begun to have issues with her personality.

Bella Ramsey is opening up about the struggles they faced as a child actor in Hollywood.

The Last of Us star told The Independent, in an interview shared online Saturday, that they “didn’t like the separation” they noticed between kids and adult performers.

“The thing I hated the most was being patronized,” Ramsey explained. “I didn’t like the fact that I could only be on set for a certain amount of time, and had to go and do tutoring. I get why the hours protections for child actors are phenomenally important — but I hated feeling like I was lesser or separate from the adult cast.”

Lena Dunham made her mark as a creative powerhouse early in her career, with the gargantuan success of her comedy drama Girls, which ran for six seasons on HBO between 2012 and 2017.

She then successfully transitioned to feature films, writing and directing Tiny Furniture, Sharp Stick and, most recently, Catherine Called Birdy. She then adapted Julia Davis’ superb dark comedy Camping in America, also for HBO. It ran for a single season in 2018.

On April 8, Entertainment Tonight reported that Taylor Swift and her longtime boyfriend, British actor Joe Alwyn, had split up after six years of dating. People later confirmed the news, which came as a surprise to the "Lavender Haze" singer's fans.

Swift has yet to comment on her reported breakup and is currently performing in her Eras Tour. According to Et's source, the reported split was amicable, and "the relationship had just run its course."

Joe Alwyn hasn't spoken out since news broke on April 8 that he and long-time girlfriend Taylor Swift had split, but celeb watchers have their first photo of him since the split, courtesy of one of his new costars. On April 11, Deadline announced the cast for the new film "The Brutalist," which is filming now in Hungary. The movie includes Alwyn, Adrien Brody, Felicity Jones, Guy Pearce, and Emma Laird. Bella Ramsey is opening up about the early days of their career, where they were rejected based on appearance.

The “Last of Us” star, who is non-binary and gender fluid, recalled a time when their acting skills were essentially overlooked because they didn’t have the “look.”

“I was told [in] one of my first auditions ever… the director really liked me but I didn’t get the part because I didn’t have the ‘Hollywood look,'” Ramsey said in an interview clip that was shared to Twitter by a user named Kettle. “That’s something that I’ve always found very interesting.”

The Casting Society announced its winners in film, television, and theater on Wednesday night, honoring Best Picture front-runner “Everything Everywhere All At Once,” as well as Oscar nominees “The Banshees of Inisherin,” “The Fabelmans,” and “Marcel the Shell with Shoes On.”

The casting branch of the academy is a year shy of a decade old and still doesn’t have an Oscar category of its own. However, the Casting Society has been handing out the Artios Awards for 38 years (“Artios” is from the ancient Greek meaning “perfectly fitted.”).

Nominees for feature films were announced on January 10 (two days before Oscar nominations voting begins). Many of the leading Academy Awards contenders reaped bids across the various categories according to production cost. Winners were revealed at a ceremony on March 9 (two days after the close of final Oscar voting).

The ceremony honors top casting spanning films, TV and theater. The celebrations were in-person for the first time in three years, taking place in Los Angeles, New York City and London, with hosts Yvette Nicole Brown, Amber Ruffin and Gordin Griffin, respectively.

Egot winner Rita Moreno received career honors with the Lynn Stalmaster Award, which was presented by her “80s for Brady” co-star Glynn Turman. The 38th Film Independent Spirit Awards, hosted by Hasan Minhaj, took place on Saturday, live from the beach in Santa Monica, California. The annual awards ceremony was live-streamed on IMDb’s YouTube page, plus additional social platforms, including Film Independent’s YouTube channel.

“Everything Everywhere All at Once” led this year’s nominations with a total of eight and swept up seven awards. Following close behind was Cate Blanchett’s “Tár” with seven nods and “Aftersun” with five. Meanwhile, “The Bear” topped the television categories.

The 2023 Spirit Awards marks the show’s first time highlighting gender-neutral categories. In other words, Blanchett and Michelle Yeoh were up against Paul Mescal for lead performance. This year’s recipient of the Robert Altman award went to “Women Talking”, in which the award was given to the film’s director, casting director and ensemble cast.

The blue carpet has been rolled up, and now we know who are the 2023 Independent Spirit Awards winners. The list of nominees recognized the best among films made for under $30 million in 2023 — that’s an increase from the previous budget cap, in recognition of ever-increasing production costs.
