Before Law & Order or Brooklyn Nine-Nine goofed around booming its iconic ‘dun-dun’, there was NYPD Blue, a raw, gritty, and full of drama that didn’t pull any punches. The show premiered in 1993 and gave viewers a front-row seat to the corruption, chaos, and complicated lives of the 15th Precinct’s finest (and sometimes not-so-fine) in New York City.

The show ran for 12 seasons and became one of the Ogs of police TV drama. NYPD Blue featured themes of tough love, often accompanied by shirtless scenes and detectives who didn’t always play by the rules.

And the cast? Well, let’s just say they were perfect. From the intense Andy Sipowicz to the cool John Kelly, the characters weren’t just solving crimes, they were also dealing with messy personal lives, occasional questionable choices, and drinking problems. Review: Growing up, I was slightly too old to enjoy Goosebumps. While I was graduating from Christopher Pike novels and R.L. Stine’s Fear Street series to the more mature novels of Stephen King, tons of kids entered the gateway horror of Stine’s fun brand of scary stories to tell in the dark. The anthology series was a hit with kids looking for a good scare, and the big-screen films starring Jack Black amped up the comedy for a big-budget adventure. Disney+ and Hulu’s reboot of the franchise was a successful, scary take on the source material back in 2023, and this year’s sophomore entry is equally good.

The first seven episodes of the eight-part Goosebumps: The Vanishing deliver a solid second season to the revived anthology series, but it fails to top season 1. The Vanishing brings a brand-new supernatural horror story from the same creative minds as season 1, with a new cast including former Friends alum David Schwimmer. However, this season takes a moment to build momentum and the story fails to spark the imagination quite as intensely as season 1, despite strong performances.

R. L. Stine's horror book series receives its second television adaptation with the 2023 Disney+ series Goosebumps. The new series brings in the creative minds behind the first two Goosebumps films, and Goosebumps season 2 released with the anthology-style title, Goosebumps: The Vanishing.

If you’re a fan of soap operas, then you know that change is slow to come to the world of daytime drama.

The biggest soaps have been on the air for decades, and in many cases, the world they portray today doesn’t look all that different from the one they depicted 20 or 30 years ago.

But a new era is soon to begin on CBS, as the network prepares for the historic premiere of Beyond the Gates.

The show is TV’s first new soap since 1999, and it’s the first broadcast daytime drama with a primarily Black cast.

Earlier today, CBS announced some major additions to the cast of Beyond the Gates, including legendary TV actor Clifton Davis.

According to a press release, Davis will play “Vernon Dupree, the Dupree family patriarch married to Anita and father to Dr. Nicole Dupree Richardson and Dani Dupree.

Exclusive: Vincent Pastore, who recurred as Donnie “Glasses” Sisto in Season 2 of Gravesend, has been promoted to series regular for the upcoming third season. Additionally, Vincent Curatola and Talia Shire have joined the cast as series regulars for Season 3.

Set in 1986, Gravesend follows Benny, a soldier in the Colezzo crime family who is torn between the good that his devout Catholic parents taught him and the life his Mafioso cousin Charlie (Chris Tardio) showed him. Benny chooses to follow in Charlie’s footsteps and in turn, denounces his father.

In Season 2, viewers learned who was behind the hit against Benny Zerletta (series creator William DeMeo) in the church. Also, in a twist, Benny headed to Miami.

Pastore portrays Donnie Sisto, the Consigliere, who works directly under the boss Cesar Tremaldo (Chazz Palminteri), boss of the Colezzo Family.

Hickory-dickory-dock, the Dice Man is teaming up with Eddie Murphy for a heist comedy, eliciting excitement and shock. Andrew Dice Clay is bringing his signature comedy brand to The Pickup, an upcoming film directed by Tim Story for Amazon MGM Studios.

Written by Matt Mider and Kevin Burrows, The Pickup also stars Pete Davidson and Keke Palmer, with the project angling for a Prime Video release in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide. Plot details remain a mystery, though with Clay and Murphy at the wheel, The Pickup is sure to entertain.

In addition to his directorial duties, Story produces through his The Story Company banner, with Davis Entertainment’s John Davis and John Fox, and Murphy and Charisse Hewitt-Webster via Eddie Murphy Productions. The classic '90s sitcom The Nanny aired for six seasons and over 140 episodes on CBS between 1993 and 1999. It was the show that made star Fran Drescher a household name. Co-created with her then-husband Peter Marc Jacobson, The Nanny was partly inspired by a trip Drescher took to London to visit her former Princesses co-star Twiggy. Exclusive: Sofia Milos (CSI: Miami) is joining the in-the-works mafia series Astoria from actor/writer Theo Nicholas Pagones. The Greek-Italian actress will play Chrysanthi Antonopoulos, the daughter of a Greek Mob boss.

Astoria is the story of Aristotle Antonopoulos (Pagones), the son of a Greek mob boss who is fighting for control of the drug and shipping cartel. Aristotle rises to the head of the family amidst a power onslaught from his drug crazed, alienated sister Chrysanthi, and the ruthless and deadly Albanian Mafia.

The series is set in Astoria Queens, New York and Athens, Greece. Production is slated for Fall/Winter 2022. Pagones is expected to announce a home for the project shortly.

“Sofia is my vision of Chrysanthi,” said Pagones. “She is a powerful and diverse actor who can deliver the elegant intensity required for this co-lead role.”

Dwayne Johnson’s autobiographical NBC comedy “Young Rock” has cast “Ballers” actor Arlyn Broche as a very personal character in The Rock’s life: Dany Garcia, his college sweetheart-turned-ex-wife-and-business-partner, Variety has learned exclusively.

Per the official description for the character, who will be a recurring guest star on the upcoming second season of “Young Rock,” Dany is compassionate and caring while also being a disciplined athlete and future CEO. She starts as Dwayne’s college sweetheart at Miami, but soon becomes a guiding force in his life as he contemplates embracing the grind of professional wrestling.

Cabin Fever Star Joins Horror Pic Flesh

Exclusive: Cerina Vincent (Cabin Fever) and Tiffany Shepis (Tales Of Halloween) have joined Danielle Harris (Halloween) in horror movie Flesh, which has just wrapped in Los Angeles. Plot details are being kept under wraps but we hear the movie involves a deranged individual who wants to sacrifice human flesh to a malevolent spirit. Script was written by Reine Swart and Chris McGowan. McGowan is set to direct with production slated for October. The film will mark McGowan’s sophomore film as a director. His directorial debut was last year’s Chasing Nightmares starring Anne Heche, Graham McTavish and Michelle Randolph. Pic is being produced by McGowan with Danielle Harris acting as executive producer. The film is being financed by Clear Media Finance, whose most recent production was Jenna Ortega SXSW drama The Fallout, which was picked up by HBO Max.
