The show is a little off-beat and started off a little slow but by the end of the first episode we realize that there is a lot more here than meets the eye at first.
Everyone seems to have a past that they would rather no one else finds out about and some go to great lengths to keep it a secret. And then there is the dead wife that he is constantly talking to. At first I thought that she was giving him clues but then we realize that she is just saying what he wants her to say because she is just a figment of his imagination.
I'm only through episode 3 but I can't wait until I can watch the nex one.
Question on the music: I love the theme song. Is it available anywhere? Who is the singer?

It is psych meets monk.
I enjoy this show so much it is a spin on the monk/psych formula done very well. It also has a couple underlined mysteries that are present in the storyline through out the episodes that I find very interesting.
The characters are developing nicely and have great chemistry.
The Florida setting is fitting and adds a good amount of its own humor.
This show makes me smile.
Finally another show I can really enjoy. This show does not take itself to seriously which I like and while it deals with serious issues it is done so in a light and comical way. I am loving it 10/10 I hope that it has many seasons because I am addicted.
A must watch.

I don't know what exactly made me watch this, I found this show by chance and all I knew about it was Luke Kirby from his supporting role in Marvelous Mrs Maisel. It's not top draw acting, feel like it's on par with comedy skits or tiktoks, it's bearable it's just unbelievable. The opening sequence in the first episodes basically scream Florida man and that's pretty much what you get as the series progresses, a lot about the show just seems unrealistic or far fetched but it doesn't feel like the writers are trying to convince you it is.
It's a Roku original so I didn't have any high expectations, maybe that's why I'm enjoying it. It's not a cop show, it's put as comedy/ romance genre but I think it's more of a mystery drama. There are scenes that are meant to be funny that aren't, but doesn't get annoying because it doesn't look like they're trying to hard. It's paced really well as the story progresses pretty swiftly, nothing feels rushed or spent too much time on.
First couple episodes are pretty plot heavy, so much happens in an episode that would usually happen across several in other series. It's almost refreshing to see so many big reveals and twists in only just the first couple episodes. Even though, there's still a lot left to unpack and the series isn't horrible so I'll keep watching. It's not the best show around but it knows what's it's trying to be and I like it for that, doesn't bite off more than it can chew.

This show is aiming for a very niche audience: our, 'detective with a burden' is battier than Monk, drunker than House, smarter than Sherlock, and doesn't seem to have a gun, although the charming Leslie Ann Warren playing his mother loves guns and is seen cleaning and oiling a vast collection of antique muskets and rifles which she uses to deter the advances of our tec's giant pet alligator. Our grounded sidekick with their own life is a single mom who is also the cop in charge of collecting enough speeding tickets to balance the city budget. A previous reviewer took issue with the scene where Bellwether (of course that's his name, but most folks call him Bell) smokes Toad but it's a bravura bit, and the show spent a bunch of FX money animating the horns and flies and stuff. As for the niche bit, it's written with the headiest post-peak-tv dialogue imaginable - "Do you prefer hefeweizen or muscadet with oysters?" is used as a distraction - and the metatext is the application of therapeutic practices in the damaged lives of our subjects, and how they are both going to make each other better people. Catch it now, there's no way in hell anything this far up my alley is going to be renewed.
SEASON 2 PLEASE!!
This show is absolutely off beat - and wonderful! And absolutely NOT PC.
Florida is a character in its own right. Imagine that! And there is a beloved alligator that roams around doing what beloved alligators do.
It's a story of love - until certain things morph and it turns to hate - in a most comical and logical way.
I started watching this because of Luke Kirby and rapidly found myself enjoying everyone involved. Kirby is his usual perfection in playing a handsome and deeply flawed man who truly only wants the best for the people in his life that he loves. And his beloved alligator.
If you want something offbeat and smart - this is your next binge.

¿Sabías que…?
- ErroresThe Map shown at the beginning of each episode is totally fictional. While the story is supposed to be set in Boggsville, Okaloosa County, the - fictional - town of Okaloosa is shown to be about half way between Fort Walton Beach and Tallahassee - far east of the Okaloosa County line. Also the shapes of both the Alabama state line to the north and the Gulf coast to the south as well as the depicted major highways leading out of Tallahassee are purely fictional.
