Resumen
Reviewers say 'Ghosts' is an amusing adaptation with a quirky ghost ensemble, offering humor and charm. While some praise the American version's unique take, others miss the original's depth. McIver and Ambudkar's dynamic receives mixed feedback. Despite pacing and stereotype issues, the show is celebrated for its light-hearted comedy and creative plots, making it a fun, though imperfect, genre addition.

I have to admit that Ghosts ended up being a lot funnier than I expected. It's based off the UK version of the same name. I never saw the original UK version so I can't compare but this version sure is pretty funny. The entire cast is great and all have their time to shine. Everyone will have their personal favorites though and my favorites are Isaac, Thor and Hetty. Again, they're all funny though and have their moments. The only person on the show I don't find funny and kind of a bad actor is Utkarsh Ambudkar who plays Jay. He's definitely the weak link in the show. He has a few funny scenes here and there but I just don't think he's a good actor. The lead is Sam played by Rose McIver. She makes the entire show go. Listen, this isn't one of my favorite comedies I've ever seen but it's definitely worth the watch.
Originally I was all about the BBC version and against how Americanized this version became. Yet, I find that the story lines and fun and games is just like watching lego masters uk/us/aus there are so many story Arcs to be told. I am now a fan of this. It was fun to watch the similarities but seperating it, biggup to the husband for perfect portrayal of not knowing whats going on but knowing whats good.
Look I really wanted to hate this show even though Rebecca Wisocky is in it an I think she is one of the best sitcom comedic ladies of all time. I dunno I kind of adore her so much. Also part of me wanted to support another Kiwi. I was really ready to hate it cos I love originals and I love the original series of this. But they actually take it and move into something else. I can't remember the name of the Jay character but honestly he plays it so well even I feel his pain and not being able to see the ghosts but also wanted to be a part of the fun .
Ok in summary. Wanted to hate it. Ended up kinda loving it. Its not a waste of time!

I laughed out loud on many occasions at the original British version, which is wilder on many subjects, but i admit that this one is quite good.
It started like a poor Copy-Paste with no soul of its own, watchable for those who didn't know better. Even so, it was nice. Watch the original "about last night" SO2 Ep 2 if you need to watch one? WATCH THIS ONE !
It took a different direction somewhere with American characters as ghosts and an Indian rooted chef who is a benevolent husband, right away. That's the spirit of this comedy
I will always cherish the original, may even clock a 9/10 on that one. But the adaptation is nice enough. It's way better than "the office" for morale. Kindof eclipsed by Severance (Sci-fi). There is that.
As ghosts go it's as Walt Disney as can be, with a few quirks. They want to be "sucked off" to heaven. Finish some unfinished business.

I have watched the entire British show in the past, and greatly enjoyed it. I thought this would just be a US rehash, and the first couple of episodes looked that way - similar environment, similar characters. I persevered, and it developed differently to the original. Character development of the ghosts is happening differently, and there are even some different characters altogether.
I have only seen the first season so far, so I'm hoping that things continue to grow and improve, and diverge from the original British version. Apparently season 4 is happening, so I look forward to getting that far.
I'm still trying to adjust to the American accents though!

- TriviaRose McIver and husband George Byrne announced that they were expecting their first child one month after the third season began filming in December 2023. The show spends the entire third season hiding her baby bump after deciding not to write a baby into the show in the third season.
- ErroresThe wounds that killed some of the characters appear and disappear between episode, in particular Flower's open gash in the back and Nigel's chest wound. Also, the basement ghosts appear in Season 1 with pustules and wounds, more consistent to the appearance of the plague ghosts in the original BBC version, but not with the cholera epidemic that killed them in this one. This is corrected in Season 2.
