This show is better than I expected and It's also kind of satisfying to see those explosions. Can't wait for season 2! I also don't care about you people saying it's garbage and dumb.
First show only: Explosions are a widely enjoyed topic that this episode diminished by excessive non-informative use of Tory's sidekick. Lose that person and ratings will improve.
If you know who Tory is, you should know who street bike Tommy is. And he fits perfect for the show. You have the brains, and I guess you can call Tommy the brawn. This show isn't as much science as it has "woah factor".
When I first heard about this show I first thought this would be good as I liked Tori being he was on mythbusters. I didn't know who the other guy Tommy was but I figured he couldn't be that bad as I thought he was a professional or something. I couldn't be more wrong. Tori did do some joking around on mythbusters so I expected to see that from him. However on this show they made him act like a total 5 year old and as for that Tommy guy, don't get me started. He takes absolutely nothing seriously. It's really ridiculous. Granted I know it was probably staged as its TV but in 1 episode they show him and Tori throwing 'explosives' back and forth at each other like it's a toy ball. I tried giving the show a shot with a few episodes but I just can't finish the season. If they actually took it more serious then I think it would be great. But they made it such a joke that they failed in my book.
Alright. I'll admit it. The part of me that's still a fourteen year old still loves a good "boom" now and then. Even when its a small video facsimile in our living room, the results can be mildly interesting. But, while the result being two grown men acting like I did as a kid, giggling and jumping in glee, it gets old, pretty quick.
The actual physics and chemistry of violent combustion and detonation still continues to hold fascination for me and a real elucidation of such science would have been much more interesting to watch. Unfortunately, like other products of the "Science" Channel, any actual science contained is purely coincidental.
The first episode I watched was entirely ruined for me as "the boys" set about setting off multiple examples of deforming metal using explosions. They were assisted by a guy claiming to be some sort of explosives expert and a lady who uses explosive forming for her artwork. The started out OK with an explanation of the differences between slower "pushing" type explosives vs "cutting" type faster explosives. Then they ruined it for me as the main host helpfully explained (in front of the "expert") that one of the explosives they were using was called "dynamite, also known as TNT". Thus they exhibited the total ignorance of the cast, crew and producers of this garbage. Maybe its just a pet peeve of mine, but this mistake has been made several times by the lazy editors of both the Science Channel and the History Channel.
