Ending left me confused

I've watched all 6 avaikable episodes. I was captivated waiting for some satisfying conclusion. To be massively let down by the final episode. Are we to expect a 2nd series to draw the story to a close or are there more episodes to come?

Really ITV?

Quite frankly I found it annoying and a waste of my time. I did give it a chance and sat through two episode. The cast high quality - let down by poor script I feel. Just downright disappointing.

Lead character just too annoying

Great cast and well acted, but the protagonist Alice is just so painful to watch. Her behaviour and actions are increasingly irritable and you end up really disliking her and struggle to empathise with her.

There are some nice moments as well as some clever satire, but it isn't enough to keep you watching. The story and scenarios are often flawed and implausible, particularly Alice's reactions and behaviour.

We tried to sit through hoping it would improve, but after three episodes we gave up.

A quality cast could not make up for the inadequacies of the writing. The idea was good but the average drama took over from the quality humour. Will give series 2 a miss.

What is wrong with Alice?

I understand it wants to be built as a dramedy, but I don't understand why Alice is so damn stupid....all her lines and actions are so dumb, is so difficult to relate with this show. You even wonder how she survived to this age, and raised a child. After she lost her partner, and her life becomes a mess, it seems all her concerns are to beg for money to buy wine. I am sorry, I love British series, it never happened before to dislike the main character for being an idiot.

On Monday, 1 March 2021, ITV announced that they have commissioned a second series of the comedy drama after the first series was a ratings success. Filming on series 2 will commence in February 2022 and will pick up the story one year on from the events of the first series.
