No. This is an all new story with new characters. There have been enough films following on from the franchise or expanding on stories already told. "Up All Night" opens up a brand new world of characters being tormented by Freddy.

We don't learn who Freddy is because there have been a number of films in which we see the characters learning about Freddy Krueger. We believe the audience don't need another film in which people learn about where he came from and why he is haunting their dreams and killing them. We pick the story up when this is known by the characters and concentrates more on them trying to survive him. Why? Because this keeps it more interesting for you without needing to cover ground which has already been covered multiple times. Don't worry though, you still get Freddy!

Yes and no. It works as a stand-alone story in the franchise but the original idea was always to have it link to further shorts, expanding on the characters from THIS series and introducing new ones. These interlocking shorts could then be edited together into a feature.

So why is it being filmed as a short? This is done to see if the demand is there for this new universe we are creating. We are confident we have a project you will love and enjoy and want to see more of.
