This is a confidently directed and visualized debut with a strong central performance, albeit one not fully supported by its screenplay.

It’s the kind of movie where text will appear on the screen as a character reads an article explaining what’s going on in the plot, the kind of solid programmer that takes its audience for a slick and satisfying ride without challenging them too much.

With beautiful visuals, an interesting plot, and a middle that some might even say makes up for its beginning and ending, Grafted is worth watching and Sasha Rainbow is a horror filmmaker to keep an eye on.

Grafted’s biggest problem is that it loses all momentum once the face-swapping kicks into motion, meandering along with no real sense of rising danger or ensuing consequence as the baton is passed from one victim to the next.
