What a lovely cast! I began with this because they are the soul of the beautifully knit tale. Let's keep the technicalities aside, I want to go gaga over how beautifully so many issues have been raised with such poise without overdoing them (as most of the movies do). It's all so subtle that it just slides along with the main plot. Things as small (but as important) as a different cup given to a Muslim girl for tea or an aged person scolding a young one for things he himself is doing. Just loved all these small things. Brilliantly enacted by everyone, such beautifully written characters. I liked the subplot too but people can differ here as per their own choices. Moreover, that builds for the finale. And yes, I really liked how they ended the movie. But how did our lovely protagonist came to that conclusion? That has been drafted out perfectly. I simply loved how money changed everything in the movie and played a pivotal role in reforming Sandhya as a woman, as an individual, and as the protagonist. I might be a little generous with my rating but it's so good to watch something like this from Bollywood. We need more such movies!

I am glad we had this bold content been shown and sincere thanks to people like Ashutosh, Sanya, Shruti and rest of the cast to be part of it.
The best part of the movie is content which it clearly shows when daughter in law turns to be daughter and it's time for her to pay back when in laws agrees to break society.
Great stuff! #netflix you are doing great job.

A movie that keeps getting better with every passing minute. It is not a light-hearted/ comedy movie. It is a movie about a girl coming to terms with the reality- a husband who didn't have affections towards her but leaves her with a substantial insured sum, her in-laws who deal with the emotional and financial loss, relatives who are suddenly interested in her life when they come to know about the money she has inherited.
The acting is brilliant by the entire cast which can be rarely said about a movie these days. A special shout out to Sanya Malhotra, Ashutosh Rana and Sheeba Chaddha who shine in their respective roles. Sanya is exceptional in the movie- from a naive girl to a woman who has to find her own path, she does justice to every scene. Ashutosh Rana is brilliantly cast as the father who grapples with the emotional loss and the sudden financial burden that comes post his son's untimely demise. His scenes are powerful enough to move you to tears.
Overall a must watch, infact one of the best movies to have released on the OTT platform since March 2020.
(PS- we need more movies with Sanya Malhotra in the lead, she can shoulder a film single handedly)

There was a lot in the film which really worked for me. The whole ensemble cast gave solid performance and all the characters had certain warmth to them. Especially Sheeba chaddha and Ashutosh Rana. Trio of Sanya malhotra, Shruti sharma and sayani gupta does justice to their roles too.
It's a feel good drama about emancipation of a woman who found herself amidst a tragedy but is not affected by it at all and we are left confused why isn't she affected. It touches on too many things for its own good. I liked it but didn't love it maybe bcz the conflict was not well outlined so it left me for wanting more. I thought some subplots could have been done away with as they didn't add much to the main story. Nevertheless it's an interesting watch so go on and check it out on Netflix.

The movie picks up a very different issue. Girl is widowed at an early age. The lack of seriousness during intense scenes makes you feel that this movie was made in a hurry. The comedy scenes are nicely done. Acting performance is good but could have been better. The movie tries to make up with a very happy but unrealistic ending. Over all its a good one time watch.

Pagglait is yet another great addition to the series of Hindi movies dissecting the middle class Indian families and their hypocrisy.
It is a Dramedy focusing on a young widow & the extended family surrounding her during the 13 days of mourning after the death of her husband.
Most of the movie is within a house. A house crammed with so called relatives and their "well intentions", their gossip, their superstitions and their regressive mindset. Which is a perfect setup for the kinda dark comedy & chaos that makes you chuckle & uncomfortable at the same time.
This role fits Sanya Malhotra like a glove. She delivers her performance like a breeze. All the supporting star cast members are also terrific with their roles and add to the ensemble brilliantly.
The screenplay effectively balances the contrast between the rituals of death being performed vs the lives that are being lived for those 13 days. It is the mirror that I'm sure most of the Indian society will not want to look into.
The OST of the movie is singer Arijit Singh's debut as a Music Composer, and it stands out melodiously as a fresh album.
Overall I really enjoyed Pagglait a lot and agreed heavily with everything it had to say.

Brilliant and a very well written movie. Dialogues are terrific, delivering a sharp stab of sarcasm or a sudden spot of humour.

My Rating : 7/10
It's all in the details - 'Pagglait' is a Bollywood drama/comedy. The plot says - 'Widowed soon after marriage, a young woman grapples with an inability to grieve around quirky relatives and a startling discovery about her late husband.'
It's sharp, subtle and just a beautifully told story which in Bollywood is referred to as 'slice of life' - parts comedy, drama, sadness, bickering - everything is here like a bhel-puri...or should I say pani-puri?
Just let the story unfold, it's engaging and fun - have a Pepsi too while you're at it! Nice work team - Sanya Malhotra, Sayani Gupta, Sheeba Chaddha, Ashutosh Rana, Raghubir Yadav, Jameel Khan, Rajesh Tailang (and everyone else) and let's not forget the Dadi and Arijit Singh's background music and score...Nice one Team Pagglait.

Story starts with a complicated situation and goes on with it's flow and the various consequences.
Performance of all the actors was mind blowing.
Specially the casting of this movie is brilliant. You can tell that supporting cast is more surprising then the main lead. Above else Music as well as situational comedy is looking totally fresh and you can enjoy it. Sanya Malhotra is one of my favourite actress because she has this charm in het act that i like the most. So if you are looking for the unique and fresh content than this is it go for it.....

I didn't have much interest in this film but it really surprised me.
Pagglait follows Sandhya, a widow who grapples with an inability to grieve, quirky relatives and a startling discovery about her late husband.
Umesh Bist doesn't have a great filmography but he does show potential with his latest venture, Pagglait. There are so many issues Bist wants to bring to our attention and I liked the way he handled them. There is a level of subtlety within the execution of the film and what it's trying to say which I appreciated. The film could have been overly dramatic in its presentation but Bist keeps the story, setting and its characters grounded at all times. It was interesting to see the mentality of a large family like this, how they would approach a situation like this and the way they act when money gets involved or when they get caught doing something they scold someone for doing. It's a nice social commentary that exposes the length some relatives would go to for their own benefit despite the sad situation.
At the heart of this film we have Sandhya. Not only does Sanya Malhotra deliver a great performance as her but Bist uses this characater to say a lot about women in India. There are many characters in this film and, perhaps, may be too many. The large cast do a great job playing their roles but there were too many subplots involving them and got in the way of the main character's storyline. I wish more focus was given to Sandhya's character so that her arc felt more satisfying. The pacing is quite slow which may not work for some people.
As a whole, Pagglait was an interesting film that you wouldn't normally see from India. The performances were great and conveyed a lot of issues present in India. I think Umesh Bist shows his worth as a writer and director and I'm intrigued to see what he comes up with next.
