I've always loved the original series and the college years series that followed. Sadly this new series is too modern and cool for me. However I'm 38 now so let's face it I'm not the target market for this show. I'll stick with the originals.

I don't think the pilot for the show was good. The only reason I watched past the first episode was because I was bored and didn't have anything else to watch, but I'm glad I did. Not only was the second episode stronger but I found myself laughing as each episode went on. It took a minute to find it's groove, but I find it enjoyable. While very different from the original, this show still manages to show it's heart as time goes on. I think if this show was made earlier it would've fit well on alongside shows like Awkward and Faking It. It's not without it's flaws but I wouldn't mind seeing more of it.

Look guys, the original premise of this series was over the top cheesiness and that worked in the early 90's. It won't work today so I love the tongue in cheek way that this reboot pokes fun at itself and the original series whilst still being enjoyable. I liked the original as a kid and I don't mind this as an adult. It's not groundbreaking or amazing but it's different and watchable and I was able to easily watch the first series with a fair amount of enjoyment. Can't ask much more in a netflix based world

I was soooo looking forward to this reboot because I grew up watching the original. This just tries wayyyy too hard to be woke and politically correct. I'm a person of color and found the constant making fun of white people ridiculous and offensive. Content like this serves no purpose, but making the racial divide in this country worse. What a complete disappointment and waste of time.

This show isn't meant to be the same as the original. It's more satirical and introspective. It makes fun of how ridiculous the plot and storylines were while laughing at itself for even exists.

This show is bad, the acting, most of the characters, the storylines, the humor, the attempt to tactile political issues. All terrible! But strangely enough, it's enjoyable and I can't wait for season 2. It does have a different feel than the original but seeing the original characters integrated with the new generation is awesome! Love AC Slater and I'm glad he is a main cast member and not a reoccurring character. His original dance off scene was awkward and a great nod to all of us 80s- 90s kids obsessed with SBTB. AC still looks great 30 years later...

More woke drivel. It's like the reboot was spawned for the sole purpose of mocking and apologizing for the original version of the show, which is ridiculous because the original version had nothing to apologize for. It was a silly and fun tween/teen sitcom. Hollywood needs to stop this BS. It does nothing but stoke the problems that it purports to help.

I don't get why people are putting so much hate on this show...maybe it depends on what you liked about the original. This reboot is pretty wonderful though. I never took the original too seriously, but enjoyed it just the same. And I love how this new version pokes fun at the ridiculousness of the original, while still embracing it and even falling guilty to the same tropes it pokes fun at...and mostly on purpose.
It's very self aware of the franchise, but also has a soul all its own that's pretty enjoyable.
I'm not sure what people were expecting it to be, but i'm just happy it's not the exact same show with different people (im looking at you "Saved By the Bell: The New Class")... This version is the original version sifted through the Degrassi filter...and seasoned with 30 Rock...and they managed to pepper in some Glee and High School Musical...with a little hint of Parker Lewis Can't Lose. I dont know how such a new show could feel so familiar but still be so fresh. It could even be it's own show, but im happy its tied into the Saved By the Bell world...cause it works there. It's silly...and funny...at times smart...and its adorable.
That theme song though....that kinda hurt lol

Corny? Definitely. Cheesy? Absolutely. Funny? Of course. So were all the previous incarnations going back to Good Morning Miss Bliss. 11 Year old me still enjoys the 2020 iteration. (Although not a fan of the new theme)

It's trash. Not funny. Stupid dialogue. Bad acting. Manages to be more corny than the original and the comedy writing is already dated. Avoid! This is my third review because they keep getting rejected. Hmmm...I wonder why.

This is like a 8, but I'm trying to offset the silly 1 star reviews that missed the entire point that this is making fun of the original show for ever existing and allowing some of the things that happened in them. Re-watch the original sometime and if you still think it's good? May God have mercy on your black soul. So if you take new series serious? Wtf are you doing with your life? This is satire and I laughed almost immediately at the kid reading the book upside-down because he was learning about Australia. That's the kind of stupidity they did in the original and it was stupid then. Guess what? It's straight up cringe today. Hence the premise of some of this show is poking fun at the old and giving a shoutout to it all at once. The longer I watched the funnier the new cast became and it became all at once. If you are closed minded and can't let someone live their own life and be who they want? You're not going to like this. If you don't know that sometimes people try to be progressive and fail miserably? You're not going to like this show. It's a shame because I even laughed out loud a few times and I'm not easy to please with humor. If you can be bigger and open minded? ENJOY.

Granted, I had zero expectations for this show, but I thought the show overall was a fun ride. I watched all ten episodes and it's not going to win any awards or anything but for a reboot of an already cheesy show from the 90's, I feel like this show really accomplishes what it sets out to do. The new kids are charming and the old cast fits their roles perfectly. I'm also a big fan of the transgender representation in the show, it's bold and very progressive for a show that bares the same name as such an iconic show from the 90's. I really think the people on here are being way too hard on a show that really isn't meant to be taken that seriously.

Nope, nope, nope, and nope. Made it only 13 mins in, pokes fun, yes but in a mean way. Acting was bad, characters just seem like the show is trying a little too hard to be something, but that something is bad, very bad.

I didn't expect too much, but this show is just bad. I grew up on the original and I admit that watching it now is pretty corny, but it's still fun. This reboot is just painful. I know times are very different now, but it's just like those terrible Disney teen shows. So maybe it's an ok show for today's teens. But for me it's painful and unwatchable. The acting is terrible.

I laughed out loud at least 5 times before the opening credits even rolled. This isn't a remake of the original, but takes place in the same universe while satirizing the hell out of it. It's my new favorite show.

So I'm a huge fan of the original show. However I knew this wouldn't be the original. If you can't get passed that, don't just give 1 star reviews because it's not that. In its own its a decent enough show. The show uses a lot of sarcasm, and I'm a fan of that.

A show that doesn't understand the struggles of racism or the art comedy but attempts to make sense of both in one of the most embarrassing failures I have ever seen. Every ethnically diverse character communicates so unnaturally due to dialog clearly written by the most self-loathing white people ever. The storyline about her being afraid to run for student president as a minority feels like it pulled from a different decade. In a generation where Hip Hop and Latin music are chart topping and well-respected acts you have to expect the racism experienced would be more subtle. You know like it is in real life. Apparently not. Show missed the mark big time.

I don't get all the hate. As a fan of the original, I really enjoyed how they have so many references to the OG while still maintaining storyline geared towards today's teens. It was really entertaining and I like the new characters!

Yes, the acting could be better, and the story lines are predictable, but the original was just as bad, so people complaining this one is not a masterpiece is not fair.
It's a fun watch with a hart and a lesson to learn, and diversity is great as well

Where do I even begin?... This pathetic attempt at a reboot was simply terrible.
Everyone involved in this mess needed to realize that the spark of the original series cannot be recreated. The original characters aged with time and so did that spark. That connection can never again be the same.
The brutal truth: Nobody cared about any of the cringe-inducing woke new cast. The only reason to tune in was to see the original cast back in character. But the original cast is not the same now as it was back in the 90's.
SBTB 'The New Class' of 1993 can now say that it isn't the worst incarnation of the SBTB franchise anymore.

The show was great. Don't write a review if you're just here from the drama and haven't seen it. It's that simple. These kids deserve a season 2.

I loved the original series - it was a staple of my teenage TV schedule! I put off watching the reboot as I expected it to be rubbish but I was surprised to find I quite like it. I think a lot of people are missing the point that it's taking the mick out of itself and the original though. That's what I like about it. Also it's meant to be silly, it always was!

Ok so it's not the original we all know that and it was never going to be!!!!
I loved the old ones and that was corny but this feels so forced and is filmed so strange it really feels like the old cast needed money so used the saved by the bell name, I only watched the new one because of my Miss 10 year old but she even said it's lame! She is now watching the old ones saying they are so much better and funnier too!

I made the mistake of prematurely judging Cobra Kai before it aired thinking it was going to be terrible, but it turned out to be a great series. Well the same goes for this show. I binged all ten episodes. It was pretty much a modern day version of Clueless with some Saved by the Bell throwbacks. It was about getting old, staying young, and growing as a person. They poked some fun at woke culture, and delved into some current issues without throwing it in your face. It's just a shame it isn't on a bigger platform and won't get the wide audience it deserves.
