I can't complain too much about the structure but god it is long. 3 hours with commercials every award or few awards. I like to see some of the winners and this year, I thought there were some good choices. The best part of the show was Gervais' humor. It lessened some of the boringness.

Why do they even invite con-artists like Gwyneth Paltrow? She should be shunned by Hollywood for selling lies and harming people's health with her fake fugazi Goop company.
Also, they absolutely BUTCHERED Joaquin Phoenix's speech by muting large parts of it... I mean, yeah sure, he dropped a few f-bombs, but just mute the f-bombs, DON'T MUTE HIS ENTIRE DAMN SPEECH! I had to search for a few minutes on google just to find the uncensored, unedited speech that he delivered.
Ricky's opening monolugue was good, but they gave him so little screen-time in-between the nominations that you hardly noticed that he was still there after his opening speech.
AND of the entire 3hour broadcast, a full hour of it was advertisements... I mean, come on! You wouldn't show ads in-between a 3hour movie, so why show ads in-between a 3hour live-broadcast?! Instead of showing ads, you could show wide-shots of the actors sitting at their tables, or show something backstage... that would actually boost your ratings (which btw, have been on the decline for 7years straight now). No wonder your ratings are declining year-on-year!

Firstly, Ricky was the star and without him it would've been so boring. He was right over 3 hours with adverts is so long! But the opening monologue by Ricky was one of the sharpest and the best for years. He was able to capture the sentiment of people watching the program and kudos to Ricky for that. Almost all of his lines were quotable and were repeated in the offices the next day! Bring him back on again!!
Some of the winners of the awards were surprising and could've done without the speeches by some of them - Patricia Arquette,Michelle, etc.
All in all a higher rating only for the one and only Ricky Gervais!
Loved Rickie Gervais' parts. That's all I watched. Hilarious! He's the best.
As always every year before the big meal "The Oscars" I watch the appetizer that being "The Golden Globes", this year's edition the 77th one was okay and funny with blunt and outspoken Gervais as the host once again who was bleeped out many times as his tongue used foul words. Anyway many awards went as expected as most of the TV awards went to the streaming networks, however the mighty "Netflix" was shut out with "Hulu" and "Amazon" products and works being winners. "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood" rained king with it winning best musical comedy, and the man Brad Pitt winning best supporting actor award, this gem looks like the "Oscar" front runner for best picture as the "Irishman" was shut out! Joaquin Phoenix rightfully won best actor in a drama for his slick cruel twisted origin take on "The Joker" . And mister nice guy Tom Hanks was honored and he got emotional, plus Ellen was honored the Carol Burnett award as she's a gal that does good kind things for people. A big surprise was war picture "1917" winning best drama. Overall good and tasty a good lead to the always main course "Academy Awards".

Ricky Gervais: You could binge-watch the entire first season of After Life, instead of watching this show. That-that's a show about a man who wants to kill himself because his wife dies of cancer and it's still more fun than this. Okay? Spoiler alert. Um, season two is on the way, so in the end, he obviously didn't kill himself, just like Jeffrey Epstein.
